Oh my God... these previews look sweet. The whole show looks like Hogan and the writing staff did their homework.

Almost makes losing John worth it. I have a feeling the show's gonna be very, very sorry it did this in the long run, but short term the material's just been one home run after another.

Can't wait for Thursday.

LOL! That was the character of Kathy Roberts.

She released a statement saying, "You have only to look around you, read your daily papers, to realize that we cannot, any of us, live with life alone..."

She also told Agnes Nixon (then head writer at the time), "Here, it's your problem now!"

Irna only really did it because ATWT was struggling in the ratings at that time. Needless to say, a few months later, ATWT would become the #1 rated soap and stick there for 20 years.

I didn't want to watch the clips but it was just so damn tempting!

The best episode of Days of our Lives I have ever seen. I have been watching for the past 11 years, and there has never been an episode like today's, not while I was watching. Nothing comes close. The writing. The directing. The acting. All three were supurb and really brought this episode to be what it was, and that is simply amazing.

Whoever thought of opening the show with that pier scene from 1991, is a genius. I loved the way it phased into the present with Marlena now on the pier hoping to find John. Instead, she gets Roman. It shows the irony of the whole situation.

The pub scenes felt so realistic. Just to see all of the family and friends banning together getting things ready for the dinner after the funeral. It was nice seeing everyone in one room. It's great seeing Celeste again. Where has she been?

Sami said the line of the freaking century. "This day is not about me, you (EJ) or Lucas!" Never thought I'd hear someone say that. <_<

Victor's entrance was amazing. It added so much drama to the show. John Aniston has such a presence about him. I got chills when he stormed down that aisle. They need to utilize him more. Victor is a powerful man. He's not cartoon-like like the DiMeras. I'm more scared of Victor than Stefano. Not so much Andre. After those disguises (the woman, then the clown), he's one scary dude.

The eulogies were beautifully written and performed. James Reynolds, Martha Madison and Deidre Hall blew it out of the park. Josh Taylor even blew me away with his speech. I loved it. It was a nice little homage to the Roman/John mess.

King, I think you may be right about Roman. There was something in the way he was talking today during his speech. It sounded like he felt victorious as he is the last Roman standing. If he was the one that hit John, this is going to open a new can of worms. Could you imagine what the Bradys will think if he killed on of his own? If Roman was the one that killed John, it better be Roman, no pods or replacements, nothing. I want Roman to have killed John in a sick and twisted way of thinking that by killing John, he finally has his life back that he feels John stole away.

Just greatness. It saddens me to know that DAYS has no chance in hell of getting a nomination, let alone the win next year at the Emmys. They so deserve for these past few weeks.

21 posts for a show that hasn't aired yet.

That's great!

I hate soap opera deaths. It's strange but they're always hard to take, as if they're real people that we're having to say goodbye to.

Brings back so many memories over the years of other characters loved and lost.

Having been a 30-year veteran of this show, something tells me this story is about to take a dramatic turn. I truly do NOT believe we have seen the last of Mr. John Black.

I'm just glad that Hogan is writing the way he should be. The balance still needs work, but it's well on its way.

I'm sorry that John is being killed off. One thing about Wednesday's show. I have though Diedra Hall has just been so-so for a little while. On Wednesday, she was super. It was one of the best performances I have seen in a while. I put it up there with some of those given by Erika Slezak.

    • BTG also has Uptown, but I really don't love that set.
    • According to this article, Victoria Rowell says was asked to audition for Anita Dupree   https://apnews.com/article/beyond-gates-renewal-d7369f7a60a0a992483294acb950ef6d
    • For years I did NOT go by Laura's opinion of Luke. Today I certainly do not go by Laura's opinion that Sonny somehow is good for Port Charles. Actually when it comes to being a judge of people's characters, and the issue is Laura, I just remember Esme.
    • Good point. It would provide some conflict with Jack. As much as I am not interested in Claire, I don't find it difficult to understand why she might be a bit reluctant  to commit to a guy who has already been divorced twice or is  3 times?before he is 30. That's a natural obstacle that Claire would be hesitant about. But in GC every relationship is true love and various past marriages are forgotten.
    • He had no chance of getting on The Sopranos

I’m in NYC, and I can’t help but wonder if NYC prosecutors, politicians, etc. ever felt the way that Laura did, back in the 80s-90s when they were taking down the mob.  “Oooh, don’t put John Gotti in prison. The guy who comes in after him might be worse”
    • Happy 18th Birthday, Sophia! I like that Tate gave her a birthday party. And that Marlena counseled him about whether or not he has feelings for Sophia, and his relationship with Holly. I like how messy Tate is and I hope he continues to be messy. He just needs to have more argument/fight scenes with Doug III

Days just needs to work a little bit more on establishing better chemistry between Tate and Sophia, but I still think that’s mostly due to Rachel Boyd. Sometimes, I think that Sophia might secretly be scheming, but with the way RB plays it, (if that’s what they’re going for), it doesn’t seem to be working. Tate was also really sweet and dorky during the party too The drug scenes didn’t do much for me though. I don’t mind that Kevin panicked and ran off with the drug once he heard Steve and Shawn coming, but I felt like that story was the weakest part of today. But I am interested in seeing what happens next. And I couldn’t help but laugh when I noticed that Steve and Shawn had matching jackets Btw, I see Mayor Price established a quid pro quo with Xander today lol I wouldn’t mind that being more than just a plot point. It could lead to some pretty good drama if it’s handled correctly. And it would be a lot better than Xander declaring war on Sweet Bits/Chanel and Felicity.  And Stephanie, finally having her mother to confide in about her life, her relationship with Alex, etc. has been one of the best things about the Paula/Jeanne episodes. The book thing still seems very Ron/Jamey-like though, mostly because it’s so centered around Alex, sort of like how GH used to make storylines about Liz all about Finn or Franco Hopefully, Stephanie talks to Kayla about the book. I’d like to hear more of her perspective on it. I also like that Kayla and Marlena were there for each other as well. These are such better ways to use all three of them. And, we got an update about John One other thing I’ve noticed about the Paula/Jeanne episodes (except for the ones that are worked on by Jamey) is that they’re longer than Ron episodes. Episodes usually clock in at around 40-41 minutes now, as opposed to 35-37, or as short as 31. I like that.
    • Also Victor being the obstacle for Kyle/Claire feels forced. If anything it should be Diane. Diane has a history of having issues with the Newmans, doesn’t she? Jack could be the one trying to reel her in while she’s meddling in Kyle and Claire’s relationship. They’re making the characters of Diane, Victoria, Nick, Sharon be way too complacent when they could have a stronger role in the younger characters like Mariah/Tessa, Kyle/Claire etc
    • A year later we had these ratings for the week of May 11-17 1987. This was probably the last time the CBS soaps (at least til Dallas’ finale) ranked this high. Dynasty had already ended its season.  CBS reran the Dallas Early Years movie on Saturday night against Golden Girls’ season finale, which was the failed Empty Nest back door pilot.  Interestingly a repeat Family Ties was #1 this week. The week before the season finale of Family Ties beat out Cosby as well, but it was Cheers that beat them both out with Diane’s exit.
