Charles Keating!!!! I work at the Guthrie Theater, in the fine dining restaurant, and he is currently performing in "The Home Place". Anyway, I was walking out the other day, and there he was. I told him how I have been a big fan of his, and that I used to be obsessed with Port Charles. He said, "Oh, vampires..." to which I replied "how was it?". He flat out said "It was a bunch of bull [!@#$%^&*]." I thought it was the funniest thing in the world. When I proceeded to tell him that I collected episodes, he said "well, I hope you collect something better than Port Charles."

Big deal. Do you like everything at your job? The show isn't even on the air now. Why can't he have his say? The fans sure do. Since he was on the inside, I think his experience is more than enough to back up his statement. The time to speak up is while you're on the show, though. His opinion doesn't do much good now.

More about Labine's proposed Heart And Soul: "...Claire Labine, a former GH head-writer, also submitted a treatment to the network called "Heart and Soul." This spin-off centered around Ned and Lois Ashton, and took place in Brooklyn. The show would follow the lives of [the Cerullo] family and a black family also living in [brooklyn]..."

Becuase he's an actor who could appreciate a steady paycheck? I can see why it would be disappointing to fans to hear that I agree that he's mroe than welcome to his opinion...

And Ru I don't think you'll find anyone who doesn't think heart and Soul woulda been the better soap of the two--I remember how disappoited online fans were when PCharles won out

That show was apparently repacked to NBC as 'Union Place', when ABC didn't take to the idea. It was going to be retooled, without any GH references, but NBC opted to go with Sunset Beach instead, and Labine's creation died. Pretty sad, it would've been a 30 min soap too, the format where Labine truly thrives.

It's actually the other way around...Union Place was first pitched to NBC, I also heard PGP was interested in it as well, and then she packaged it as "Heart and Soul."

Charles Keating, although he pissed on the fans of PC, gets my respect for that statement. The people at ABC should have totally kept Karen Harris writing that show.

EricMontreal22, I have politely asked you to refer to me as RuAsRuAnAu. Is that too difficult?

My cousin is a soap buff and has loads and loads of soap stuff (scripts, tapes- she has every episode of AW 1999, cds, magazines, posters, autographs etc), so I'll ask her if she may have a copy of Heart And Soul.

I feel that Heart And Soul was thought to be less commercially appealing than the dreaded PC, so that is why ABC Daytime passed on it. And I also feel Heart And Soul was the superior of the two. :P

If you can find a script or even better the 30 min Pilot for the Josh Griffith/Linda Gottlieb/Michael Malone FOx late night supernatural soap 13 Bourbon Street that WAS filmed and came this close to being picked up--and Logan at TVguide used to rave about whenever he could just to makepeople jealous he had seen it--I will call you whatever you ask ;) To be honest whenever I try to type our your full moniker I end up mispelling it and fear you'd be more offended... You have seen my typos haven't you--it might be safer to go with Ru and know I mean no offence by it.

Yah Wendy Riche I believe convinced ABC that she could film Port C on the GH sets, etc--a LOT cheaper. Wasn't HEart and Soul gonna immediately move Tracey from The City (where I loved her) to their show? Also randomness but how long did Debbi Morgan last on PC?

But I barely watched PC--and didn't even know Keating was on it! who did he play?

My interpretation of his remarks is that he was basically mocking the fan, for his tastes, as well as the show. Charles Keating is who he is, and that's fine, but sometimes who a person is, is someone who has no respect for what someone else - stranger or not - likes. That's how a lot of people are. It might have made me think badly of him, if I had an expectation that he'd be a nice guy - but I didn't have that expectation to begin with.

    • Brook Lynn has been working my last nerve for at least 2 weeks. I was so relieved when she blurted out her teen queen story to her grandmother who is the most wonderful person in the entire world!
    • Just caught up and these episodes were absolutely amazing! Ambyr Michelle was soooooooooo good, and I felt so bad for Eva, I actually teared up. I love that Andre was nice to her, that was my favorite Andre moment of the series thus far.

I don't need to warn you that if you like this & want to keep it download it. Now, isn't she positively amazing?!!! Well, IMO she is. This is only the first episode that I've got her in. I think there will be more.
    • All true, and all an enormous problem on this show. -- The business stories are maddening because none of it makes any sense, none of it has any connection to the real world. As you said, sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers, and job switching is not a storyline. -- The deck chairs are constantly rearranged on the Titanic -- that's what this show is. Summer, Chelsea, Sally, and Chloe have been in design for how long? And we've never seen ANYTHING from them. Carrying around an iPad isn't enough. BOLD is terrible, but at least they show us dresses from Kohls and jewelry from Amazon. -- I know it's baked into the DNA of the show, but I will never enjoy seeing Jabot and Newman treat each other as if no other companies exist in the entire world. A new magical line of cosmetics is not going to bring down a company like Jabot. -- This is a writing problem, not a budget problem. An enormous amount of cash is not needed to write compelling business stories and show real products. This is writer LAZINESS.
    • Right? GOD FORBID Vanessa be allowed to cut her own mother-in-law down to size, when REVA REVA REVA needs a rival to sharpen her claws on. RME I mean, they could have, but Long and Curlee (like most HW) seemed to forget about characters once they left town. If they mentioned Trish five times in the ten years she was gone, I'd be surprised.  Yeah, Alex didn't really do friendship, other than Lillian. And most of the time, Henry.  And somehow, by the time she leaves, Sonni is some friend of Mo's? Mo is just everyone's default "friend". SMH.
    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
