Will Bree Williamson leave OLTL? Will Jess be re-cast?

That is a big question at OLTL right now. Bree's contract officially expires in November. She signed a five year contract back in November 2002 and premiered in February of 2003. Her contract is coming to an end and she is thinking of exploring other options. The major thing for Bree if she stays is she wants a very short term contract maybe a year or six months. She does not want to be locked down in another big contract. She is considering other options besides OLTL. I have to say when she replaced Erin Torpey, I really did not like her but I grew to love her much more then Torpey. Bree has been a great re-cast and would love for her to stay. OLTL might be re-casting Jessica if Bree decides to exit the program. Will Bree leave and can Jess be easily re-cast?

I would be devastated if Bree left. She's a very talented actress and has really made the role of Jessica her own. She hasn't given any indication that she's unhappy at the show, so I think they'll come to terms on a new deal, though it won't be for 5 years. I think she may sign for another 2 years, then may leave after that.

If Bree was to leave, that would be a huge loss to OLTL. Given that the character she plays is currently the most important in Llanview, her departure could cause ratings to slip by .1 or .2 ratings points.

I honestly don't think that they could recast her, since she is more popular than Erin Torpey was.

I am not so sure ABC would bring back Torpey either or if she wanted to return. She lives in LA doing her little music thing. The character of Jessica has changed alot since Torpey left five years ago. Torpey was a cute girl as the little girl grown up but what Torpey lacked was an IT factor/sex appeal. Bree has the whole package which is looks, talent, personality and that charisma Torpey lacked onscreen. Bree has been a great re-cast and she has grown so much as an actress in almost five years. She is definitely one of the show's most successful re-casts. I would miss her if she departed but understand she is young and this is the time to branch out. Five years on a program is a long time. Unlike Melissa Archer who I feel would not make it out of OLTL. I feel Bree has the opportunity to make it . Alot will depend on if ABC/Frons will give her a short deal with an out like a one year deal with an out. do you think Bree would committ to another five year deal? Get real that is way too much to ask someone to do that.

I don't think any of the young performers should be expected to commit to a four or five year deal. Daytime's future is not bright right now. I suspect that is why REG left. She didn't want to be tied down for four or five years.

As far as Bree, I think if they wanted her to stay they could work out an arrangement like they have with Kelly Monaco that would enable her to pursue other opportunities. I believe they have the same type arrangement with David Fumero. If she has other opportunties, she would be foolish not to explore them. I also think they would try to get Erin Torpey back. I personally think Bree captured the more mature Jessica. However, Erin Torpey and Frank Valentini have been close so I would imagine he would try to get her back. Erin would come in after five years and I think could do a fine job. Personally, I hope they work something out with Bree. They didn't with REG so i expect Bree to leave.

I wouldn't say that Bree has the 'whole' package while Torpey had none. Jessica under Bree has lacked the nuance to really play a strong, rootable, innocent character without coming out wholy naive -- which is why they ended up creating Tess. Torpey probably could have played believing in teacher Haver without coming off as a stubborn pampered princess. I notice how little they have given Jessica a career under Bree (a token attempt at publishing once every year or so), but one could easily picture Torpey's Jess following eagerly in her mother's publishing footsteps. However, the role and what they want out of it has changed so much, I don't see them bringing back Torpey.

I would really hate to see Bree go, but I think Jessica COULD leave the show..I mean she does have the whole Nash/Jared storyline going on now, but since she got ill, she has been on the backburner. I really hope she stays though, she's one of my favs on OLTL.

I think Bree does do a much better job in the part right now than Erin did. I also think she is very popular. However, as Sedrick said, she can be recast. And she would have to be recast. The character is more important to the show than the actress.

Hey Max. Jessica Is NOT The Most Important Character on One Life To Live. They Act like John McBain is the most Important Person on One Life. Natalie is on more than Jessica. Todd and Blair are more Important than Jessica. Also, They used to have Asa or Viki and Dorian. Jody

    • Agree to disagree. I think both Jason & Carly do human connecting pretty much all the time. Sonny is different. And I think Jason's return is pretty clear. It was, and is, about Jason's capacity for self-sacrifice & his capacity to dedicate himself to a thing or person or whatever in a very singular, possibly even extreme way. Steve has tried to make the point to fans that Jason would have possibly done this for other people, not just for Carly. If I try to follow that to some conclusion, I ask myself who? Danny? Yes. Jake? Yes. Sonny? Yes. Sam? I'm not sure. Liz? I think so,  probably. Monica? Definitely.  Any other Q? No. Spinelli? Strong maybe.  What do you think?  One thing that helps me think about it is the speech he gave when he talked about getting the new ink. (tatooed arm) Valerie Cooper? Or Spencer?
    • After Season 1 they jumped to Season 25. I queried why but they didn’t reply. They’ve also added the episodes to their on-demand section too (as well as live streaming them)  Oddly, some S25 episodes are the longer 21-22 minute edit used for international distribution, but the majority appear to be the shorter US edit. They also blur out the B&B web-address at the end of the credits which I can’t fathom why. They’re also very diligent in ensuring the ‘BBL Distribution’ slide is cut from the very end too - there’s an abrupt fade out of the music which typically would overlay into the distribution credit.

    • Dante jumps to conclusions Remember when Dillion went with the Spencer's to help Lucky in 2015 Dante assumed an affair andslept with Valerie then called lulu a wĥore  Only after explaining did Dante apologize
    • Did anyone see this? It was really good and far more important to the future of the MCU than people expected. The fact is its not a Thunderbolts film but stealth

This was definitely Yelena's movie. I love how she was utilized
    • A lot of very interesting commentary, thanks! Thoughtful, considered, etc.  I found myself chuckling since as a current fan of GH one thing we lack is romance. Here, you're complaining about too much. I sure get it when it manifests as Fight about G, make up, Fight About G again. That's a stuck couple, right? Who needs it?!!!  Wrong Donna, yeah, sorry, it has to be survived. The Right Donna DOES return.  Criticisms of Felicia Gallant .... No comment.
    • Brooke was a commercial mainstay back in the day.. she probably made more money and treated better doing that then how she was sort of treated by the show during her time on the show. Ironically.. Kelly was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs

    • I am probably veering more toward the classic thread, but I felt like her original run had her more as a moral voice for the Quartermaines than was needed (I thought her connections with Sonny and Brenda made more sense).  Sonny, Carly and Jason are all suffering the consequences of being too prominent for too long. They are above any relationships due being unable to form human connections. I do still wonder just what their original plans were for Jason this time, if they even had any.
    • Perhaps Lujack/Beth should have been the other couple involved in that location story with Tony/Annabelle instead of Claire/Fletcher or Jim.   Since Lujack was a Spaulding, the whole fallout could have caused him to further distance himself from having anything to do with Spaulding and Alexandra and as a result, pushes Beth away and potentially back in Phillip's direction. Out of the three Pam Long major mystery/action stories in her first stint.. the fishing mystery story was probably the best... although I did kind of enjoy parts of Infinity and the cabin mystery stories as well.
    • I’m now realizing all of Nick and Sharon’s screen time last month all revolved around Phyllis and then they took a “trip” to visit Noah and still haven’t been back? That’s super lame. They should be involved in a lot more and COULD be, especially where any of the Newmans are concerned (Sharon in particular, since I don’t care much for Nick unless he is in the presence of Sharon).
    • Now, you are just not being grateful for the right things!!! There was not even ONE Elvis on velvet!!!! I want to say how magnificent I think it was that we are so unified in our condemnation of the show giving little Ally to Sam & Amanda, so quickly & relatively young & so newly married. Paul, here, I love your description of a different couple that they could have been.  Xanthe, I similarly love your suggestion here, a GREAT one, of how if they simply MUST do the bambino thing how they could have made it better by giving Amanda a very realistic struggle with becoming a mom, etc.    So, I'm sorry that most of us would put Sandra Feguson/Robinson smack in the middle of any pack, as average, but it's nice that some of us saw more, substance, when we got to Brunette Amanda!!  FAST FUN FACT, gleaned from a Locher room: Tucci is not only lucky enough to be Stanley Tucci's baby sister but she & Lorna #1, Alicia Coppola are besties & godparents to each others kiddos & talk on the phone every day.
