Sveta beat Ash in straight sets. Funny how she’ll have like an annual breakout performance then struggle the rest of the season.

So happy for Sveta...I can't stand Ash dull game. Ash being #1 is laughable.

Why is Patrick Mouratoglou participating in this documentary about last year’s US Open final drama? Hasn’t he done enough damage?

Super happy for Sveta!  She's always been a fave.  The worst thing about no cable is the tennis I'm missing :(

I signed up for TC Plus but learned Tennis Channel is not included. I got my $99 back quickly!

I have cable but no TC, so I’m only watching what airs on ESPN2, which has been most of the later rounds.

Keys/Kuznetsova final. Rooting for Sveta.

Totally rooting for Sveta.  But from what I've seen, Keys has been played the best tennis of her career.

Yeah, Keys has been playing with a lot of intelligence and restraint, harnessing all her power. I still don’t love her, but I admire how she’s playing.

And Novak unraveling after dominating...

He’s already gotten his Golden Masters-completing title here AND against his Cincinnati nemesis Federer, so losing wouldn’t be a big deal. But some of his tactics in the last few minutes.... have been rodonk.

He was pissed after the loss. How could he let a tired and injured player beat him?...lol

I guess he was stunned at how Medvedev served two first serves and blasted ever shot back to him. Medvedev will move up to #5 in the world with win today but by Monday will drop back to #7 in the world. I still believe he'll be ranked #5 for the US Open. Medvedev won't have anything left for the US Open though...he is gassed after three straight finals.

Svetlana went from struggling to get a visa into the country to finalist and contender for the title in Cincy. Great for her.

These interviews between Prakash and Venus were very popular on social media and did absolutely nothing to quell speculation that there was some flirtatious undertones going on, lol.

I read on Twitter, Venus played a role in Sveta getting the wildcard.  It was a snippet but I couldn't find anything on it.  I hope one of you detectives have something.

I read about that too.  There's some confusion as to how much of a role Venus played in this but it wouldn't be unusual since a number of years ago, she intervened in a situation for an Israeli player who was denied entry to a tournament in the UAE, even though the player, Shahar Peer was ranked high enough for direct entry (presumably for political reasons) to help the player get access to the tournament's main draw the following year.

Venus has engendered a lot of goodwill over the years, and much of this she has done very quietly, with few people knowing (she has donated tennis clothes to players without clothing contracts, some she has made brand ambassadors while others, little known journey-woman players, she has simply given them EleVEN tennis and workout clothing).

Now that I think about it, I slightly recall that Peer's issue (with the UAE) may have been a visa issue as well, but I'm not sure.
