Hurkacz was serving incredibly. He probably would have been any other player.

Eubanks with the break in the fifth set!

If Eubanks takes it, he’ll play Medvedev, a winnable match for him on grass.

Edit: He did it! Stefanos was lucky to get this far. If that Murray match hadn’t been suspended and continued the next day, he probably would have lost, as Murray had all the momentum. Eubanks can definitely take Medvedev. He might even have a road to the final, but Alcaraz or especially Berrettini (who seems back in form) would be huge challenges, no doubt.

This article is backing up my point that tennis, unlike other industries could use a bit more AI, especially the intelligence part as the lines judges at Wimbledon are not making good calls. I only saw parts of Venus’ first round match so I didn’t realize that a bad call essentially cost her the match, but this isn’t the first or even second time bad calls cost her a match at Wimbledon.

No disrespect to Swiatek but Svitolina played Iga the way I had been thinking that the other WTA players should’ve been playing her, the way most players used to play the #1s, put her game under consistent pressure and see if it gives way, and in this case it did, to the point that Swiatek was making errors, seemingly out of nowhere at times. Serena used to proclaim that when players faced off against her, everyone brought their best game against her. I got the sense, at times that this wasn’t the case in some matches against Swiatek. I don’t know if this was Svitolina’s best (she also made some questionable shots but knew when to clean up her game) but she knew that in the era she started playing professionally, the pressure was usually on the higher ranked player and the challenger played that principle for all its worth.

I guess the Eubanks fairytale had to realistically end at some point, but still who had him making the quarterfinals, even after his grass-court title? And no doubt his star will rise and $$$$ will be coming in. He’s a great advocate for himself and tennis in America when the sport desperately needs one, especially on the men’s side.

Eubanks is kind of the story of the tournament - along with Svitolina - similar whether or not she pulls it off.  Ugh with Medvedev - he's so lifeless.  Constant Constipation is playing (that's what I say).  Or dude with perma-lipcurl.

Eubanks was noticeably crestfallen at not being able to pull off the victory but when he’s had a few moments to recover and really think about what he’s accomplished this Wimbledon fortnight, I mean his first main draw tournament at Wimbledon to the Quarterfinals, that is quite an achievement, hopefully this spurs him onward.

    • What consequences are there to suffer? He didnt commit any crime and everyone already hates him. If anything this will set back the progress he's made with Naomi
    • Yes and I also loved how she focused on Chelsea and Naomi when she spilled Bill's involvement in all of this.
    • Danny: Don't drink it. Just hold it. Rocco drinks three laced cups.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
