Hey Ryan! I trust you 100% to speak for me if you wish. :) You know most of it... including the stuff you know I won't say here.

You know, I don't expect everyone to understand completely the situation. Most have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, yet are compelled to push forth their speculation (as always tainted with a bit of nastiness - no surprises there).

In short, for those not in the know, I'm tired of the abuse and harrassment. In one instance, I had to contact law enforcement as a result of ongoing harrassment (even impersonation!) of me by some loser in Indiana who has this weird fascination with "Santa Barbara". Then, of course, the drama Errol had posted about this past February (Kenny knows about that one better than anyone!)... and another drama shortly thereafter with a WoST board member who turned out to be a fraud. Of course, the standard abuse and hate which has always been in the email. Lump it all together and you get a steaming pile of poop that NOBODY would want to deal with. I have been very open about my feelings on all of this (though Mr. H seems to think sharing nasty emails is a sympathy ploy). Dude, sympathy ploys are for the sad and lonely, of which I obviously am not. Mike, you don't have ANY idea what has gone on... because, despite what you obviously think, I haven't posted or discussed publicly all of it. But there are several folks here -- yes, here at SON -- who know about these things, particularly the more private stuff I won't disclose.

The site has NOT shut down. The media will be accessible until August 2009 as I must honor membership committments. I shut down the forum because I was publicly maligned there in a way I felt was inappropriate. It started relatively tame enough with a discussion about Rosie's exit from "The View". Some members felt my dislike of Rosie was a result of some ridiculous gay-hate, which is absurd, as is as bad as calling me a racist or bigot. It simply ain't true. I was then accused of masquerading as another poster, which is equally absurd. As everyone can attest, particularly my old friend, Boozy Smurf, that I don't have to hide behind secret identities when firing off my opinions.

I just found this all to be over the top, offensive, and disgusting. And the surprisingly intolerant rants of those who should know better made me quite angry. Rather than perpetuate this sort of thing, I thought it best to silence it.

Anyway, I don't have much more to say about it. As I have said to others, I can now sort of fade off into obscurity and enjoy having my life back without harrassment and constant nonsense. Things are going to good in my private, personal life to let online foolishness upset the balance.

Thanks to those who understand... and a big "get over it" to those who don't. I don't exist to provide unlimited soap-viewing pleasure to the masses. And, as All My Shadows has mentioned, a good portion of the material (sadly, in some cases, the very material I posted at WoST!!) can be seen at YouTube.

Thanks for the information, Brian! It's always good to see you around these parts.

Sounds like you've been dealing with alot of drama and unnecessary bullsh!t. Can't say I blame you for throwing in the towel.

LOL - oh my god, you've exposed me as a screen name I havent used in over 4 years after you banned me from your site cause some of your crazy posters kept starting fights with me because I didn't feel Another World was the end all and be all of daytime. I feel all naked and exposed now. Eeeek!

I think it's very very sad what's happened with Wost. I used to be a member as well...and chose to leave when I felt that the "off topic" forum was OUT OF CONTROL. lol. I felt that some thought they were "god" and threatened some posters. It was very awful. I did feel a sort of anti gay feeling as well...again, this was all in the off topic forum...and when I defended some of the gay posters who were being greatly offended, I was basically shown the door. I never made a fuss over there...often enjoyed the site....however, I did not like that after paying to use the site...and simply defending some folks over there, I was basically shown the door. I was promised the board would hear my side and get back to me, then I was simply told to just leave the site. (with no refund). I find this all very scary so, folks, please know that there are always two sides to every story. When I joined that site many board members were thrilled because they said the site needed more younger people who could add to the discussion.

I'm just thrilled that a classy site like this is available and it was a great place to come when I saw some things going on over there that were just very very strange.

Aww, Kenny... you are one of the few who know everything. I appreciate all you've done and how you have been there. It really has helped. Same for Ryan and Na'Vell. I wish I had known a year ago what I know today about some things AND some people. Might have changed some things. Funny how people are so judgemental without knowing the facts...

As for YOU, BOOZY... LOL!! At this point, I can't exactly remember how that all went down. But I admit that, when you were gone, things lacked a bit of spark. No joke! Eeek!

Aw, Brian, I must say it is sad to see your site fade away. I loved discovering it all those years ago and finally being able to hear all the previous theme songs to Guiding Light and every other soap opera. It was a great lil treasure to uncover. And despite not posting much in recent years, I loved your forum because it joined together so many well-thought intelligent posters who loved the soap days of yore.

I can understand your disinterest in the current goings-on in daytime; it's like watching a sick grandmother growing weaker and weaker, and you hope things will turn around and she will be her spirited vibrant old self... but you know it's never going to happen. I myself will probably be shutting down my own site soon due to lack of time and interest.

Hopefully, there'll be another forum where WoST refugees can congregate together again :)

Enjoy your soapy stress-free life again :) You deserve it!

Brian...

When I read your post it almost made sick! Not anything that you said, but to the things that I shrugged off as malicious rumors to be true, not to mention I had praised two of the individuals in my earlier post(now I know what Kenny was alluding too!)...I feel dumbfounded now! And I KNEW there was a reason I decided to avoid the Rosie thread, even though I had started it(by posting the news she was leaving the View).

I always thought you were an fair and friendly moderator, always on top of making sure the forums were clean of spam, politics, etc. When I ever went it the message board felt like a home. You were always giving people second chances and the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes they would realize their mistake and the peace continued...sometimes they went psychotic afterwards. Sadly, those latter people have severely abused the trust you had extended out, and ruined it for all of us.

To keep it short, Brian thank you taking the time to explain everything and for all the hard work you put in those fourms, and I hope you'll stick around the net for quite some time...after a well-deserved vacation!!! :)

Thanks, Dustin... but don't be too sympathetic as it may look to some as if I'm fishing for it! <_< Since it sounds as if you have a handle on all that has went on behind the scenes, feel free to email if you have any questions. I'll tell all to anyone who wants to hear about it. I just won't post publicly about the specifics, particularly as the involve certain individuals.

Keep in touch, okay? There are so many people I have gotten to know through the site over the years and I don't wish to lose touch. You probably won't see much of me around the net, though. Work and private life keeps me very busy -- and that is far more rewarding than anything I have done online and the positive reinforcement I get from personal and professional endeavors is awesome.

Good luck to you, Gray Bunny. Ya know, the soaps just ain't what they used to be. I used to get excited when there was a big firing, or a new producer, etc. No more because it happens time and time again -- and the results are rarely much better. I no longer follow any soap. Heck, the spotty updates at AOL keep me from watching the classic stuff there, too. It's just depressing. For me, life day to day is far more interesting.

    • The rumor Zimmer writes about sounds like something Paul Rauch would have told Zimmer about Jacqueline Courtney as a way to discredit Courtney as Rauch loved to do that sort of thing. Zimmer probably just retroactively fit it into her story. Zimmer does not have good sense of time in her memoir. Who knows?!!? Zimmer strikes me as someone who always has to be competing with women.  Zimmer and 1986: If I had no context and someone told me that someone in the 1986 scenes would win four Emmys, I would immediately pick Denniston. Granted, I've only watched about a week's worth, but my word, Zimmer just fades into the background even when she's the main player in the storyline. There's no life in her performances. It feels that Zimmer is unhappy and that she's letting it impact her acting.
    • I'm dreading going into the ninth season; I've got to be mentally ready for it.

Does not help these seasons are damn near thirty episodes. Twenty-two should've been their cut-off.
    • True. I did enjoy the episodes surrounding Greg's faux death, too. @Liberty City Agreed, it started pretty slow, but once Jill falls off the cliff, I was more invested for some reason. Yes, I genuinely enjoyed the episodes surrounding Greg's fake death. I agree, it began quite slowly, but once Jill fell off the cliff, I became much more invested for some reason. I guess bc more of the cast was working together.
    • Shouldn't Laura talk to Kevin first before agreeing to her brother Martin moving in with them? Her house is like a hotel for people she never sees -- like Lucky, who she's unaware of his latest departure as a man who runs away from everything. Meanwhile, Lucky is busy giving away his cabin to Isaiah, who we've barely seen him with.
    • With Sean Kanan as Carl Ivati.
    • These episodes have been delightful so far. I enjoyed everyone who stood at the podium today, as it reminded me of all the decades of history.
    • I've actually enjoyed Lucky's return for the most part, but his "farewell tour" scenes this week are just so weird, and they keep pointing out all the opportunities the show has missed to make him more vital to the canvas. Like I think his scenes with Isaiah today--where he gave Isaiah the deed to a cabin Luke built--were the first time we've seen the two of them together all year. Why go to all the trouble to build up this friendship when Isaiah was introduced, when they basically abandoned it as soon as Lucky moved back to Port Charles?
