I think Nixon was a great President, or he planned on being one. He had very good ideas. He was just a super politician ,as I call it, which means he would do anything in the name of politics, which is why he made those bad decisions. Reagan....[!@#$%^&*] Reagan.

Nixon definitely was not a great president. Freezing America's wages has to be about the dumbest thing anyone could ever think of doing.

Ronald Reagan's policies I disagreed with, but not once do I doubt that he loved his country and was trying to do the best thing for it. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for George W. Bush. I highly doubt that he loves America at all.... he has his own best interests at heart, and that's sad.

#1, since Thomas Jefferson was alive in the 18th century, I seriously doubt that Ronald Reagan knew him personally.

#2 Clinton got the nomination in 1992, and it's highly unlikely that Reagan had the mental capacity for irreverence at that stage of his life.

#3 The quote you're referring to didn't come from Ronald Reagan, wasn't about Bill Clinton, and wasn't referring to Thomas Jefferson.

#4 The quote was from the 1988 Vice Presidential Debate and utterred by Lloyd Bentsen to Dan Quayle, in reference to his comparing himself to John F. Kennedy. Here's an excerpt from that Transcript, courtesy of PBS:

QUAYLE: And I will be prepared to do that. I will be prepared not only because of my service in the Congress, but because of my ability to communicate and to lead. It is not just age; it's accomplishments, it's experience. I have far more experience than many others that sought the office of vice president of this country. I have as much experience in the Congress as Jack Kennedy did when he sought the presidency. I will be prepared to deal with the people in the Bush administration, if that unfortunate event would ever occur.

Bentsen won the debate with that line alone. Kudos to Quayle for opening himself up to it.

I have never understood the fascination with Reagon and his poilicies which beneifted only a few.

Reagan was one of the greatest Presidents, and history has shown as such.

The only ones who disagree are the die-hard liberals who want something for nothing.

What Reagan did after Carter virtually destroyed the country was give everyone hope and excitment about the future. Reagan actaully cared about the country and not his legacy. Kind of like Bush now. He is not building his legacy, he is doing what HE thinks is right for the country. Agree or disagree, but a President who goes against many is not trying to be popular, like Clinton, who only cared for his legacy.

CLinton did some good, don't get me wrong, all Presidents do.

I do not understand why people are so hard on RR, when he did so much.

"W" I understand why there are those who just hate all he does, good or bad, because they can not get past certain things and look at every situation rationally like an adult.

But the quote even if he said it, was obviously tongue-in-cheek.

Which again, it was funny for a DEM to say something like this, but it turns into a vile misquote if a REP says something as a joke.

The bitterness never ends! Pretty sad to be those people.

The fact remains that he did say it. But there's still no need for some DEM/REP political mumbo jumbo argument. It's not a political argument, it's a factual argument.

Sounds to me like you're making the same misjudgement that your party tends to make.

Yet, you make biased arguments AGAINST Liberals and Dems, and think that it makes you a middle of the road person, who is so much more rational than they rest of us.

These people here have the right to love, like, dislike or hate any publically elected official they want. If they feel that GWB is a great president, fine. If they think he's the worse since Buchanan, that is fine as well. Who are you to keep telling people that they are wrong for how they feel?

Wrong Roman. He is the worse since Hoover. Just kidding. I hate Reagan and I have no problem saying it. I think Nixon was a good President Nixon and I have no problem saying it. I'm moderate and vote for the right canidate, and I have no problem saying that. We all have our prefrences.

Roman, in my eyes, are are truly a GOD.

I have say that Ronald Reagan was a pretty good President, but I also believe that Jimmy Carter was as well; however, he has been a better ex-President then a President, with Habitat for Humanity and everything.

Despite his personal problems, Bill Clinton was also a pretty good President.....this country was a whole lot better off from 1993-2001, then we are now. Geogre W. Bush is an idiot.

Nixon was not a good President, and neither was Herbert Hoover.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy were smoe of this country's best Presidents IMO.

Reagan was a genuinely nice guy and I don't doubt he loved his country, but his policies were headscratchers.

He used his "trickle down" theory to piss on America.
