I don't think anyone can spin this positively at ALL. All of those "oh they may leave after 13 weeks" or "maybe they won't catch on"... There is no plausible reasoning behind this AT ALL. What this means is more time for Shelle since these characters are going to be involved with them, and LESS time for characters that NEED airtime. Budget can't be a problem, he's hired 2 new people, I don't care HOW CHEAP these actors may be, it can NOT be cheaper than using actors on your payroll already. The whole face of DAYS is changing and I think that is the ultimate bottom line. :(

I'm starting to think Hogan Sheffer was hired for only one purpose: to get DAYS cancelled.

This is stupid!

What about the supposed budget crisis?

Why put new people on contract when the available talent, like Drake and Deirdre, is being badly underused?

Completely illogical!

I like Joy Bisco but WHAT THE ****ING HELL IS THIS ****!!!

All I can say is we better see alot of Bo/Hope/John/Marlena going forward or even I will be PISSED!!! .

Seriously, WTF?!!

I won't stop watching and I do feel the show is better and the balance is returning but this is a major downer for me.

I never liked her at all on Port Charles. And I have seen that actor too and don't care for him much either.

And to the person that wants to see him as a love interest for either Marlena or Kate - more power to them. I don't want to see him neither either of them. And don't want Joy Bisco near Lucas or EJ.

As to NBC wanting the show cancelled - yes they do. But the hiring of these newbies would have little to do with that. I highly doubt that NBC has much to do with the characters that Hogan is creating. It was said when Hogan was hired that he had control in the stories area. I don't know if he has a say in casting like JER did but who knows at this point.

All I know is this is not a good move even if the characters are only around for 13 weeks. Fans are already mad and bringing 2 more characters in with them on contract is not going to help matters at all. And even for fans that don't read the mags they are going to see them. So it is not going to go over well with them either.

I am not going to blame Hogan totally for this because this could very well be Corday trying to bring on cheaper actors because NBC's is tightening things.

Whatever the case, it sucks. I didn't like Bisco in the beginning but I grew to like her. I would be alright if they were recurring but damn why contract?

I don't think it will be a HUGE deal as long as their is balance and the big 4 are back on. If not, then Days us in even worst trouble then now.

Newbie or not, I am getting sick of the constant women falling for Shawn. I liked Jan and am ok with Willow, but I in the past three years all we have seen is women falling for Shawn. Jan, Mimi, Willow, and now possibly this new girl.

I want Shawn's trouble with women after him to end. It's getting so tiresome.

    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
    • You've been seeing him all along. You just didn't know it was him, I guess.

    • Where to for Dana? She's pissed off the Duprees (most of the cast), alienated her daughter and will she be welcomed by the Have Nots at the diner? Maybe she can befriend Ashley and Derek and liven up their story.
    • Melissa Ordway announced she was moved to recurring back in November but is still credited with the contract cast members.
    • I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.
    • So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

P.S Maybe Evan will surprise me. Who knows.
    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
