I'm toying with pairing Nancy and Joe ... could be dullsville, but it would pit Nancy and Paulina against each other and kind of put Rachel in the middle. Should she side with Nancy, her half sister, or Paulina, who ended up being almost like a daughter to her ...

My main concern is having all of these ideas and then having them not be done justice in daily form. Sigh. I'm nervous ... lol. And It might take a bit but the balance could be a little difficult. I'll find a happy medium though.

I really want to see classic soap reruns again. SOAPNET badly needs a second channel. I'd kill for reruns of the current soaps.

I'd love Santa Barbara. I know that would be my kind of soap. And actually, I really want to see reruns of GL. I have the history book and I'd love to see it.

With all the hoping of an AW blog, I'll definitely work on it and start planning out my story arcs!

Any suggestions, right now, are welcome.

I am so glad to finally see a thread for Another World. One of my all time fave soaps.

A few questions though....

How much longer until Sharlene "dies" in the boat explosion? (One of my fave characters)

Why did Cali Timmons leave as Paulina? (love her as Paulina, i have searched and searched and can't find out why she left anywhere???)

When does Mark Pinter take over as Grant? (never really cared for him as Grant)

I was sad when Anne Heche left as Vicky/Marley. She had amazing chemistry with Paul Michael Valley. Jensen was annoying to me.

Like all of you I am not looking forward to Frankie or Ryan's death. the show never really recovered after Frankie died.

Can't wait to read this new blog!

She was let go. TPTB wanted to take the character in a new direction, so they picked up Judi. I think they wanted her to be more sympathetic, since they were going to officially make her Mac Cory's daughter. Though most would disagree, to me, it was one of the biggest mistakes the show ever made.

Judi Evans's first weeks are beyond dreadful.

Judi was who they wanted orginally but she was otherwise engaged. So when she became available, they droped Cali for her.

It orginally happened in November of 91 but it will happen in October on SN.

Early June on SN. It was originally early July of 91.

Sometime in August on SN though he orginally started in September of 91.

yes, i'd have to say that i'm really looking forward to Jensen and judi taking over these roles. i liked cali as paulina, however, she really did not imo have the best writing for her character...her story almost became secondary to who shot jake. and, after 5 months of who shot jake, i'm STILL waiting for the ending of the storyline. the getting to the shooting and the shooting itslef was much more fune to see than all this crap since he's been in the coma.

I've loved this show since the '70's. I must say, Swajeski's tenure was my second best era of the show. Firt, belonging to harding lemay of the '70's. Jensen as vicky was incredibly painful at first....about 6 months. however, once she settled into the role, she was on fire. imo, she had much more chemistry with ryan. I loved anne, i've loved ellen, and i greatly grew to love jenson in the role. I liked the way she took the best parts of both of the twins, and, over time morphed them into one great character. I say to all....watch....who knows, you might like it the second time around. How can anyone not LOVE the canadian remote shot of her wedding to grant? she's soooooooo beautiful.

finally, as different as this show becomes at times, isn't it simply wonderful? a huge breath of fresh air compared to today's crap? i'm just thrilled to be able to see some great writing and acting and people on the screen who are not 16 years old for an hour! I'm greatly looking forward to rachel and carl's love story coming up...they did a great job with that stuff. Bye anne...you were outstanding...hello jensen....welcome...and thank you for keeping our vicky front and center and keeping her a very believalbe and appealing part of the show! I will greatly miss sharlene....i think she only has a couple of months left as well....great great show....glad we can chat about it. one more thing....lol.....they have totally NOT used iris and the great carmen duncan to her abilities....i'm sorry swajeski could not have written for this major historical figure on the show.

    • Thanks again @Paul Raven  It shows you just what a unique and memorable performer Denise Alexander was that I can see her in these moments and hear her even though I've never watched any of the material. On paper it probably wasn't up to much, but I do wish I could see her playing it. Meanwhile, the Diana material continues to seem like one plate of ass after another...I was thinking she had finally been able to move on with the therapy breakthrough, but then we're right back with her believing Peter and Leslie are having an affair. I don't know how much further off the material is that made Valerie Starrett leave, but I can't blame her.  I see less and less of Jessie anywhere in this - is this when Emily's health troubles were starting to phase her out of story? Going a few summaries back, writing out Lee, Caroline, her son and his wife seems so rushed. It's a shame Marland, or whoever, killed off all of them (aside from Lee), as they might have given Lee some story down the line. Or maybe the daughter-in-law survived too - I can't remember.
    • Thanks!  I compiled the list and posted it for the 59th anniversary in November, but just made the updates now for the couple of new cast members we've had since then! Didn't realize until I did the update that Peyton is the first-ever contract actor born in Nevada, so that's another state off the 0 list!
    • What I love about this story is that I can empathize with both Lulu's point of view AND Lois's point of view. I can understand why Lulu thinks it's important for the truth to come out and why she feels a moral obligation to let Dante know he has a son. But these good intentions have gotten all mixed up with her hatred for BLQ, and so she's going about it like a self-righteous bully who hasn't thought through all the consequences of this reveal. And I can understand Lois's thought process keeping this secret. She couldn't bear to give her grandson away to strangers, and so she arranged an adoption that kept him in the family. From her perspective, it's worked out beautifully because as Gio grew up as a "Palmieri cousin", he got to know his father Dante, his mother Brook Lynn, and his grandfather Sonny. She just had the hubris to believe that she could play God and keep the secret forever.  Maybe it's just getting to see Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright in full-on catfight mode a few days ago, but the show is starting to remind me of Guiding Light in its heyday, where most of the drama comes from the interactions of long-running characters who are likeable in some ways but have enough fatal flaws that they create their own problems. That's a sharp contrast for the way GH has generally been written since the JFP era, where most of the drama comes from external threats: supervillians, Sweeps month disasters, the mob shootout of the week.
    • Wow, @JAS0N47, that list of states was impressive! And I never knew that James Read hailed from near me! (I was born and raised in a nearby city, about 15 minutes away!) (Liked him since he played Murphy Michaels on Remington Steele when I was a kid. As an older kid, I also loved him on North and South!)
    • Oh, I remember this vividly! So trippy to see Mike Brady as a devil-worshiping judge. LOL! (With the mustache and curly hair in some pics, Reed seemed to have a surface resemblance to early-Jeopardy Alex Trebek!)
    • This makes Karen, now this & a guy on Facebook named Brent Costel. Sony is really deleting so many files.
    • Tracy is going to be excited but only if she is no longer under arrest. Where is Marty when he is needed?! But, in case he is truly out of pocket, then where the dickens is Scott Baldwin? Scotty, Tracy needs you. And you know how she is.
    • I’m so excited to see Tracy’s reaction when she finds out Gio is the great grandson she was wanting Jason to find.
    • I think Lulu has had a point. Gio is Rocco's half-brother. Rocco is Lulu's son. And, she is still in love with Dante. She tried to get Brook Lynn to be forthcoming. Then she gave Lois the same chance. It was an accident that the two women were screaming at each other enough so that Gio heard every single stinking word they said.

And Leslie looked good in that leather.
