GREAT post Cal AGAIN! ITA.

But, even though many do not care about Zane or TJ and this is not meant as offensive but I think they should. TJ is a Lord and a Manning(I consider them a key family too just because of history with Irene, Tina, Todd, etc.). Zane is even bigger just because he's a Cramer, Buchanan, Lord, and most of all Victoria Lord's great grandson. That's just my opinion.

Both of Kelly's sons were Cramer, Buchanan, Lord, Riley somehow the disgust factor is too high on Zane for me.

TJ may be a Lord Manning but Todd already has Starr and Jack and there is nothing that TJ contributes that they couldn't have done with them. Then there is the 12 month pregnancy which even calls into question the Lord Manning part of the equation.

Nothing would have saved Margaret. Her original conception was correct -- glorified day player. Sometimes that really is all that a character ever should be.

I agree with everything except for this. She had the potential to be a long term character, or at least an off/on character like she was for a while (Janet, Sheila....nearly every soap has one).

That doesn't make them all good. We've had psychos before and I thought Margaret was the absolute worst. From her torture and rape of Todd played for laughs to Tari Signor's unbelievably awful 'playing for the balcony...on Mars' theatah acting, I wanted to kill myself every single day I had to listen to her voice.

Simply having a character who is a psycho does not automatically make the character funny or interesting or watchable. She was the worst I can recall.

I enjoyed her initially and thought she could be a longterm obstacle to Todd and Blair and in any story involving BE or Kevin. I thought they went over board after the kidnapping.

From the beginning, I haven't been a fan of Higley's humor, and the Valentine's Day rape and parody of Blair were just about the worst taste I could imagine (although I am not a huge fan of KDP's singing).

I thought she passed up an excellent chance for a very interesting long term villain with a hidden agenda and Llanview ties: Mrs. Bigelow. We were never filled in on how Todd met her, but it is obvious she had his trust. She had a number of delightfully whimsical eccentricities, like her cat and those glasses. She had been the best Todd foil since the parrot (and a better one, I believe)- From her position, she could have wreaked havoc with most of Llanview, with or without Todd's knowledge. Just make her Allison Perkins mom, and see where it goes. Instead, she got killed at the hands of Margaret for the Dorian/Blair play with a corpse.

After the baby was born, a sane Margaret had potential - especially with Todd, jr missing.

Thank you, so much, all of you. I'm a sporadic OLTL viewer at best , or have been since MALONE PART ONE.

I think we were spoiled back then by having the best show on TV, not just soaps but all of TV.

There will come a time...

By the time they got through with TJ's birth there was no going back. Margaret's pink slip was in the bank as she'd done too much to too many in too short a time. Consider Jack's kidnapping, then Ace's with the scissors, the rape, Blair in the trunk, attacking Starr, killing Bigelow and hitting Marcie.

Margaret 2.0 was shrill and annoying cartoon. She served the purposed of making Todd pay in some respects which on some level appeals to some. But the over the top camp has a short expiration date on it and Margaret was long past her expiration before they ever got to the floating corpse. The only villains which ever last long term have some dimension of humanity that the audience can relate to. Margaret2.0 didn't. If Malone had ever considered the player to be anything more than a brief plot point then they should have remained with Margaret 1.0.

I don't see how she ever would have been a true obstacle to T/B unless they were going in for yet another kidnapping. As to BE even her utility there was played out with her tampering with BE's quarterly report. You can only go to the well so many times with the same plot point. They did suggest an interesting tie in to Margaret and the baby with Keke with Kelly's OTT reaction to Todd the baby killer and Margaret's fixation on Uncle Kevin. Of course all of that never went anywhere. They might have gotten some milage out of that but even at it's most extreme there is only so long they could play that out.

When you add in the macabe brand of humor that they attached to Margaret -- things like a baby book with bullets from "daddy's leg" and the ripe jokes much less the fractured fairy tales it's not going to play long in Peoria.

You know, here is another thing I really hope a new OLTL writer will change someday:

Viki being in these constant triangles. Whether it's men fighting over her, or her fighting women for a man, this is getting tiresome. I still want her rivalry with Dorian to live on, but we have gone through SO many triangles with her. There was Marcy Wade, Steve Burke, Maria Roberts, Tom Riley, Sloan Carpenter, Dorian, and others who I might be forgetting.

That is when I really got down on Higley. Rape humor is not humor. I don't care if it is a male being raped or a female. The jokes that Margaret told, the double entetres (misspelled), the Blair skit, all was offensive.

At least we agree on the sane Margaret thing :). I really thought that Higley would go somewhere with it....but nope, she crushed all my dreams...

Higley is a dream crusher...it's what she does. Same with Frons and Valentini.
