Members Jess
This may be posted somewhere else, and if so, I apologize. There is talk on the boards that someone has been promoted to co-headwriter on OLTL. Scotty, do you know anything about this?
Members allatwitter
In the new SOD Frank Valentini says Ron Carlivati has been promoted to co-headwriter.
Administrator Toups Posted February 15, 2007 Administrator Share Posted February 15, 2007 Good for Ron. I think he and Shelly Altman are the most senior (in terms of being on the staff the longest). He's paid his due.
Members Dr. Jay S.W.
If this is real, I am happy as hell. Not that I don't believe the OP, but can anyone confirm this??
Members Chris B
Well I guess this could explain the change, but I expected Kay Alden. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for Higley.
Members allatwitter
It's in the Feb. 27th issue of SOD if you want to confirm it.

Members Tzelkos
Good for OLTL making this move. Wasn't it reported here last fall that at the very least McTavish would get a co-headwriter at AMC if November sweeps didn't do that poorly? She managed to avoid even that! Amazing. Members SlezaksOLTL
Good for OLTL. Is this a good news thing or what does a Co-HW do? Do they also do lead stories or how does this work. Since he has been at OL for over 10 years will this help fix a few things in their inconsistancies of characters, and will he maybe write more for vets like Viki, Nora, Bo, etc? What is the thought is this good and will it help balance out the bad of Higley? I hope Viki (Erika Slezak) finally gets something with a new co-HW it is quite obvious Higley hates Viki. Members Dr. Jay S.W.
Co- HW's can very well write lead stories like the HW. Just put it like this, Ron is Co-HW which also makes Higley Co- HW so their powers are balanced.
Members juniorz1
I gotta say I've been tuning in to OLTL a bit more of late and there's an obvious change going on there. If it's Ron making the difference, good for him. I will say that what I've seen doesn't feel even a little bit like Higley.
Members Andre
Dena used to be a senior writers on the DAYS staff when she was promoted. And it was a disaster. So experience really can be quite meaningless.
Members Dr. Jay S.W.
Yes but she sucks and Ron doesnt. Period
Members Ryan
That's not necessarily true. Some people work best when part of a team (as in they aren't responsible for making big decisions). Jean Passanante sucks as a solo writer, but she was fine when she was part of Hogan's team. The moment she was promoted to Co-HW the show began to suck. We hope that Ron will do a good job. I hope this will be OLTL's way of phasing Higley out, and pairing Ron w/ Kay once she gets more familiar with the show.
Members Scotty
This is the first I have heard about it Jess, but it is certainly wonderful news! I am presently working on the report.
