Many said in the thread about the college ratings this week that Days would see the most benefit from the college ratings being counted now, and I think they are right. Days got big help from them but even them counting didn't help them on Friday. I would hate to see what Days rating might have been on Friday without the college rating.

The college thing is overrated.

It's not like everybody drops everything, they huddle around the TV and no one speaks a word for the hour X soap is on.

At MOST I'd expect a 50,000-80,000 reflection in the ratings.

I don't know. It is hard to say how much they affect the soaps. I know that the research said that Grey's Anatomy rose 5% in that desired age group the first episode they counted it.

And you look at Days in that specific age group (18-34) they rose .3 back to number one. That is a pretty hefty rise in HH's in any category in this day of ratings.

And in HH's all that matter is that particular TV is tuned in. The students could be coming and going but the show still gets the HH rating for that particular set.

Wow, GH tied B&B. :o But not surprised. I havent seen B&B lately. Surprised by ATWT drop thought it was better last week. And I see Wednesday and Thursday shows the best of the week were the highest. I also not suprised by the jump in Thursday's episode of GL. It was a very good show.

Total Viewers

7. ATWT 3,156,000 (-142,000/-154,000)

8. GL 3,093,000 (-5,000/+186,000)

WOW! That is what I call way to close for comfort for ATWT, less than 70,000 viewers away from being number #8. Someone needs to wake up Barbara Bloom.

I just thought I'd point something out... Did anyone ever realize that more men watch Y&R than women 18-49?? I find that to be surprising. You would think soaps would care more about men, but they don't.

It needs to wake up Jean Passanante and Chris Goutman. GL could overtake ATWT in total viewers and HH's next week. It was serve JP after the crap she has given us lately. Maybe then she will get the boot!

I don't understand why college students would be desirable for advertisers though. Most of us are as poor as dirt.

I'm not surprised B&B is now tied with GH: Bradley Bell is killing B&B. There's nothing on that soap interesting me right now, and the imminent Phoebe/Rick SL will turn off even more viewers.:rolleyes:

If DAYS bring back Matt Ashford(Jack) in a big way, if only on a short term basis, and hype this to the max, that should help the ratings. :)

True, but college students are one of the groups with the highest debts, whether it's credit cards or loans. Maybe that's why advertisers are after us. We spend a lot.

I'm so glad that GH is catching up to B&B. Bell has ruined BB with his crappy storytelling, writing, and constantly shuffling of couples. Bridge is the worst thing that's happened and now another incestuous relationship with Rick and Phoebe. Bell hasn't has an original idea in 5 years. I was hoping Day would be the show to pass B&B, but hopefully this will be a wakeup call to Bell, to stop insulting the intelligence of his fans with crappy stories and re writes.

:o I had to make sure I read right when I saw that GL got a 2.6 on Thursday. It even beat ATWT that day. When was the last time that happened???

Wednesday's show should have been a lot higher...I thought it was better than Thursday.

Check out that huge drop come Friday..and still, it manages to beat Days in total viewers. I'm glad the show didn't sink any lower. Right now, it looks safe and with the writing being the best it's even been in a while, there shouldn't be anymore big drops.

Brand loyalty. Catch the consumer when they are young and they'll stick with your brand for life.

^^ Exactly. 50 year olds may have a lot more money, but they are often (not saying always) set in their ways. During teens and early 20's people are choosing the brands and products they'll probably be using for a long time to come.
