He knew it was a total joke and he deserved to go home weeks ago. It's not like he could honestly be shocked that America doesn't think he's good enough. He should be shocked that he stayed on so long. Had he been totally oblivious to the entire ploy, I would feel bad. However, he was in on the joke. He knew he was the laughing stock of Idol and he praised it. Good for him! I think it hit him the hardest when the crowd actually cheered for the first time about leaving.
