Shrine to the Soap Hunk Winners Announced

Wow the NBC fan bases really stuffed these ballots this year. I am shocked they beat the ABC fan bases that usually stuff these polls. I agree with some of these but some of these are totally because of the NBC sweep. Overall the winners are okay, but some had a better choice.

NBC - 13 wins

ABC - 2 wins

CBS - 1 win

from http://www.soaphunks.net/awards8.php

Best Hunk

James Scott (E.J. Wells, DAYS)

28.9% of the vote

Eric Martsolf (Ethan Winthrop, PAS: 25.4%)

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS: 17.6%)

Justin Bruening (Jamie Martin, AMC: 15.9%)

Colin Egglesfield (Joshua Madden, AMC: 12.1%)

The powers-that-be at AMC should be kicking themselves now. After killing off Ethan Cambias last year, James Scott was promptly snatched up by DAYS in May 2006. Seven months later, soaphunks.net voters have named the Salem Bad Boy the Best Hunk in all of daytime, making him the third DAYS stud in history to win the top award. Scott ended up victorious in five out his six categories this year. Adonis 2006 winner Eric Martsolf of PAS finishes a strong second, and continues the now 3-for-3 trend of the Adonis winner not winning the Best Hunk prize. His PAS co-star, Adrian Bellani, finishes third in a rare nomination here for a newcomer, while James Scott's former AMC co-stars, Justin Bruening and Colin Egglesfield, round out the top five. Scott's Best Hunk win leads a massive comeback for NBC overall: last year the network managed just one award; this year, it's 13!

Hunkiest Soap

Passions (NBC)

48.6% of the vote

All My Children (ABC) 19.7%

General Hospital (ABC) 17.1%

The Young and the Restless (CBS) 8.1%

As the World Turns (CBS) 6.4%

With the biggest margin of victory ever in this category (and the third biggest of any category), the hunkified, constantly shirtless cast of NBC's PASSIONS cruises to an easy win for Hunkiest Soap. It's the susder's second win here, after taking the prize in 2003. This win also means NBC has won the Hunkiest Soap award in seven out of eight years. Last year's winner, ABC's ALL MY CHILDREN, slipped to second place in 2006, thanks to a late surge of votes that vaulted it over third place GENERAL HOSPITAL. The CBS entries, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and AS THE WORLD TURNS, finished 4-5...distantly.

Best Hunk Over 40

Don Diamont (Brad Carlton, Y&R)

29.3% of the vote

Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing, GH: 26.0%)

Thorsten Kaye (Zachery Slater, AMC: 24.0%)

Jack Wagner (Nick Payne, B&B: 11.9%)

Paul Satterfield (Spencer Truman, OLTL: 8.8%)

After two consecutive years of playing bridesmaid, Y&R's Don Diamont returns to the top of the category he owns. Known in its early years as Best Hunk Over 35, Diamont has now won this category six times in eight years. (Diamont was also named the Sexiest Soap Hunk of All Time in early 2006.) His win also is CBS's lone victory in the 2006 awards, and Diamont's personal seventh. GH's Rick Hearst finishes a strong second, followed closely by AMC's Thorsten Kaye. A fourth place finish for Jack Wagner marked B&B's best showing this year, while OLTL's Paul Satterfield takes the fifth.

Most Missed Soap Hunk

Justin Hartley (ex-Fox Crane, PAS)

33.1% of the vote

Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo Dupres, AMC: 26.3%)

Jensen Ackles (ex-Eric Brady, DAYS: 24.6%)

Shemar Moore (ex-Malcolm Winters, Y&R: 13.4%)

Brandon Routh (ex-Seth Anderson, OLTL: 2.6%)

Aquaman? Green Arrow? Nope, apparently soaphunks.net voters want Justin Hartley to still be Fox Crane, as the former PAS star takes top honors in one of the year's most competitive categories. The win is Hartley's fourth of his career. AMC vet Josh Duhamel (of LAS VEGAS), this category's winner for the last two years, slips to second. That's just barely ahead of third place DAYS alum Jensen Ackles, now featured weekly on SUPERNATURAL. Y&R's Shemar Moore finished fourth and extends his winless streak to 11. Not such a superman is OLTL's former man of steel, as Brandon Routh limps into fifth.

Hunkiest Newcomer

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS)

35.1% of the vote

Brandon Beemer (Shawn Douglas Brady, DAYS: 28.0%)

Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake, GH: 25.0%)

Mark Cameron Wystrach (Fox Crane, PAS: 9.2%)

Michael Dempsey (Alan-Michael Spaulding, GL: 2.7%)

In a particularly strong year for this popular category, overall nominations leader Adrian Bellani triumphs as the Hunkiest Newcomer of 2006. This close race saw DAYS' newbie Brandon Beemer lunge into second place, followed by a strong third place finish for GH's Jason Thompson. Mark Cameron Wystrach, who debuted on PAS right along with Bellani takes fourth, while lone GL nominee Michael Dempsey takes fifth.

Most Shamefully Clothed

Steve Burton (Jason Morgan Quartermaine, GH)

35.7% of the vote

Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery, AMC: 23.4%)

Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman, Y&R: 20.8%)

Grayson McCouch (Dusty Donovan, ATWT: 12.6%)

Dax Griffin (Shane McGrath, B&B: 7.6%)

Steve Burton's refusal to strip down on-screen has become the stuff of legend here at soaphunks.net, so it's no surprise that this year the GH vet takes the award for Most Shamefully Clothed. Following him are 2000's Best Hunk winner Cameron Mathison from AMC, who once upon a time was always shirtless but has since become more stingy. Y&R's Joshua Morrow takes third, followed by the too-covered Grayson McCouch of ATWT and Dax Griffin of B&B.

Best Chest

James Scott (E.J. Wells, DAYS)

32.4% of the vote

Eric Martsolf (Ethan Winthrop, PAS: 27.6%)

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS: 23.0%)

Mark Collier (Mike Kasnoff, ATWT: 11.3%)

Mark Cameron Wystrach (Fox Crane, PAS: 5.7%)

Best Chest is almost always a tight race, and this year was no exception. DAYS' James Scott chalked up another win here, just ahead of No. 2 Eric Martsolf and No. 3 Adrian Bellani, both from PAS. Last year's winner, ATWT's Mark Collier, is fourth in 2006, while PAS' Mark Cameron Wystrach's fifth place finish makes me wonder if some voters don't need glasses.

Best Pecs

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS)

32.3% of the vote

Steve Burton (Jason Morgan Quartermaine, GH: 24.1%)

Austin Peck (ex-Austin Reed, DAYS: 21.2%)

Colin Egglesfield (Joshua Madden, AMC: 14.4%)

Mark Cameron Wystrach (Fox Crane, PAS: 8.0%)

On the rare occasions that he wore a shirt this year, Adrian Bellani certainly filled them out nicely, as soaphunks.net voters handed him another win, this time for Best Pecs. The PAS hottie bested the efforts of runner-up Steve Burton from GH and Austin Peck from DAYS, both of whom have won this award before. AMC's Colin Egglesfield takes fourth, while PAS' Mark Cameron Wystrach rounds out the list.

Best Abs

Brandon Beemer (Shawn Douglas Brady, DAYS)

26.3% of the vote

James Scott (E.J. Wells, DAYS: 23.3%)

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS: 22.2%)

Justin Bruening (Jamie Martin, AMC: 18.0%)

Mark Cameron Wystrach (Fox Crane, PAS: 10.2%)

In a ridiculously close horserace, three of the guys led at one point, but the one leading at the end was DAYS newcomer Brandon Beemer and his eight-pack. Co-star James Scott, who won this category last year, finishes in second and records his only loss in the 2006 awards. A strong third is PAS' ripped Adrian Bellani, with Adonis 2004 winner Justin Bruening from AMC in fourth. And how abs like Mark Cameron Wystrach's wind up in fifth place is beyond me.

Best Butt

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS)

39.1% of the vote

Thad Luckinbill (J.T. Hellstrom, Y&R: 26.2%)

Colin Egglesfield (Joshua Madden, AMC: 18.7%)

John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex Balsom, OLTL: 9.7%)

Zach Roerig (Casey Hughes, ATWT: 6.4%)

In perhaps the biggest surprise of this year's awards, Y&R's Thad Luckinbill stripped down to his bare bum on "Nip/Tuck," but still only manages a No. 2 finish to category winner Adrian Bellani of PAS, who decisively took first place for Best Butt with almost 40% of the vote. AMC's Colin Egglesfield stripped down to his skivvies onscreen enough to finish third, while OLTL's John-Paul Lavoisier and ATWT's Zach Roerig--ahem--bring up the rear.

Best Arms

Eric Martsolf (Ethan Winthrop, PAS)

30.0% of the vote

Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine, GH: 23.4%)

Adrian Bellani (Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, PAS: 21.9%)

Greg Vaughan (Lucky Spencer, GH: 18.8%)

Mark Cameron Wystrach (Fox Crane, PAS: 6.0%)

After 11 nominations, PAS' Eric Martsolf was in danger of becoming one of the biggest losers in Soaphunks.net Award history, but he finally manages a win this year as the Adonis 2006 winner's bulging biceps take Best Arms. The news isn't as good for runner-up Tyler Christopher of GH: he's now 0-for-10 in awards history. Adrian Bellani of PAS, nominated in all the "below-the-neck" body categories this year, takes third place. Last year's winner, GH's Greg Vaughan, takes fourth, while PAS' Mark Cameron Wystrach has his hot guns finishing a surprising fifth.

Best Hair

James Scott (E.J. Wells, DAYS)

30.8% of the vote

Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Roberts, DAYS: 22.6%)

Thad Luckinbill (J.T. Hellstrom, Y&R: 19.3%)

David Fumero (Cristian Vega, OLTL: 14.8%)

Ingo Rademacher (Jasper "Jax" Jacks, GH: 12.5%)

In the only repeat victory this year, DAYS' James Scott takes Best Hair two years running, even though his tresses have gotten shorter during his stint in Salem. Scott's nemesis on DAYS, Bryan Dattilo, is his runner-up here, while Y&R's blond bombshell Thad Luckinbill finishes third. The much-needed haircut for OLTL's David Fumero helps him to a fourth place finish, while fifth place finisher Ingo Rademacher of GH had a higher No. 5 showing than in any other category this year, with a 12.5% finish.

Best Smile

Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake, GH)

32.1% of the vote

Aiden Turner (Aidan Devane, AMC: 21.2%)

Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman, Y&R: 20.8%)

Colin Egglesfield (Joshua Madden, AMC: 17.3%)

Paul Leyden (Simon Frasier, ATWT: 8.6%)

In the first-ever victory in this category for a newcomer, the pearly whites of GH newcomer Jason Thompson earned him a strong victory for Best Smile, putting him ahead of last year's winner, Aiden Turner of AMC. Toothsome Joshua Morrow of Y&R finishes a strong third, while AMC's Colin Egglesfield and ATWT's Paul Leyden round out the top five.

Best Voice

James Scott (E.J. Wells, DAYS)

47.0% of the vote

Aiden Turner (Aidan Devane, AMC: 17.7%)

Thorsten Kaye (Zachery Slater, AMC: 14.8%)

Paul Leyden (Simon Frasier, ATWT: 11.1%)

David Fumero (Cristian Vega, OLTL: 9.5%)

Our awards' new category this year ended up being one of the biggest runaway wins of 2006. DAYS' James Scott used his sexy British accent to easily take first place, with a whopping 47.0% of the vote. Fellow Brit Aiden Turner of AMC is the runner-up, while co-star Thorsten Kaye's German accent ends up in third. ATWT's Paul Leyden takes his Australian accent to No. 4, while OLTL's Latin lover David Fumero winds up in fifth.

Best Eyes

Brandon Beemer (Shawn Douglas Brady, DAYS)

25.1% of the vote

Eric Martsolf (Ethan Winthrop, PAS: 24.8%)

Colin Egglesfield (Joshua Madden, AMC: 21.2%)

Brody Hutzler (Patrick Lockhart, DAYS: 16.5%)

Ingo Rademacher (Jasper "Jax" Jacks, GH: 12.4%)

In the year's most competitive race, DAYS newcomer Brandon Beemer takes Best Eyes by a razor thin margin of 0.3%! Beemer's peepers bested runner-up Eric Martsolf of PAS, while AMC's Colin Egglesfield took the bronze. Last year's winner, DAYS' Brody Hutzler, finished fourth. GH's Ingo Rademacher, the first-ever winner of this award in 1999, takes what's actually a strong showing for fifth.

Best Face

James Scott (E.J. Wells, DAYS)

36.2% of the vote

Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake, GH: 22.7%)

Justin Bruening (Jamie Martin, AMC: 19.6%)

Thad Luckinbill (J.T. Hellstrom, Y&R: 12.3%)

Paul Leyden (Simon Frasier, ATWT: 9.3%)

It's a decisive win for DAYS' James Scott here, his fifth victory of the 2006 awards. GH newcomer Jason Thompson takes second, while AMC's Justin Bruening gets the show position. Unfortunately, fourth place finisher Thad Luckinbill's loss here makes him the owner of an unfortunate new record: 12 nominations, no wins.

Yeah some of these results are  and  .

I've never really thought James Scott was that attractive. He has a better look on DAYS - but still doesn't do much for me. He sure isn't a hunk - so the Best Hunk is a big WTF? Especially over all those other fine hunky men he 'beat'.

Anyway, thanks for posting Steve.

I totally disagree! James's win as Soap Hunk was well deserved. Many people think he is very handsome and extremely sexy. AMC, your show, could have had this winner to represent them, but they decided to stick with the "older" crowd. The younger guys, Colin and Justin just didn't bring in the votes.

Days sought out a winner all around for their newest character. James is great to look at and he can act.

I'm very proud of him and my votes! 2006SoapHunkJS.jpg
