August 31, 200718 yr Author Administrator I'm surprised that LML hasn't fired Natalie Minardi Slater yet. She eliminated everyone else from the old squad. Do it LML! Let Natalie go out of the terrible Y&R as soon as possible. Same here. I'm very surprised she's lasted this long. I bet she wants out though. Working for LML is not worth all the headaches. LOL Saturday you will be posting the ATWT news Toups? Yup. News from ATWT......and another soap.....for a total of 3 updates.
August 31, 200718 yr Author Administrator I can see it now, "Jean Passante named new EP of ATWT, in addition, she'll continue her duties as head writer." Maybe..... "Megan McTavish and Dena Higley join Jean Passanante as Co-Head Writers."
August 31, 200718 yr Member Saturday you will be posting the ATWT news Toups? I'm confused, is there some big news pending I know there is some stuff coming up that seems like it can't be her writing it, but could it really happen
August 31, 200718 yr Member I can see it now, "Jean Passante named new EP of ATWT, in addition, she'll continue her duties as head writer." Umm..anyone remember the Y&R boycott?? News from ATWT......and another soap.....for a total of 3 updates. Good to hear. What is the other soap? Maybe..... "Megan McTavish and Dena Higley join Jean Passanante as Co-Head Writers." Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
August 31, 200718 yr Author Administrator I'm confused, is there some big news pending I know there is some stuff coming up that seems like it can't be her writing it, but could it really happen It's not big news like a HW change. It's just a staff writers update. Good to hear. What is the other soap? DAYS.
August 31, 200718 yr Member It's not big news like a HW change. It's just a staff writers update. Damn!!!
August 31, 200718 yr Author Administrator DAYS: - Roy B. Steinberg last listed as Supervising Producer on August 29 - Stephen Wyman last listed as Co-Executive Producer on August 29 (it felt so good typing that!! ) - Edward Scott first listed as Co-Executive Producer on August 30 (and this too!!)
August 31, 200718 yr Member Jean Passanate seems as entrenched as Megan McTavish was at AMC. If that is the case, prepare for a few more years guys, sorry to say. I just can't see how ATWT/CBS can justify keeping her on, and no one could see anyway ABC could justify keeping McT on so long at AMC.... Its really bizarre. Its like the mantra in daytime these days is stick with the devil you know. There used to be head writing changes like underwear changes. A team could get overhauled like 2 or 3 times a year. Not anymore.

August 31, 200718 yr Member Toups:Regarding Y&R writers and tracking who writes each day's scripts: Gottesfeld/Bennett are still writing scripts Ahern/McLaughlin are breakdown writers Stanley is breakdown writer DuFour is breakdown writer So when Stanley is listed alone, the script is by Gottesfeld/Bennett When Ahern/Mc are listed alone, the script is by G/B and A/Mc wrote the breakdown When no one is listed after Slater, then it's usually DuFour's breakdown and G/B script. Just to clarify a bit. Are you the one who attened a soap opera writing course with Natalie?
August 31, 200718 yr Member P. S. I have only now seen that Valerie Ahern wrote for Desperate Housewives and was a writer and executive story editor for Clueless!! I'm not sure how I missed that... Edited August 31, 200718 yr by Sylph
August 31, 200718 yr Member I have taken several writing courses and seminars by soap writers. Going way back. I've hung out with now-deceased Joe LeSeur in NY who wrote for AW and was good friends with Dorthea Ann Pursur. I've taken courses taught by Barbara Seiger at the New School in NY. I've seminared with C. Labine, J. Passanante and others. And I used to wait on Melissa Salmons when she'd come into my store in the village in NY. I also know a few writers on staff of some shows today. I was trying to clarify the YR writing credits. Ahern and MacLaughlin write breakdowns exclusively, so when they're names are listed alone in the credits that means that one of the headwriters wrote the script. THat would usually be Bennett/Gottesfeld who are continuing to write dialog and contribute to story. James Stanley is exclusively a breakdown writer so when his name is listed alone the dialog was penned by Bennett Gottesfeld. When no name appears after the headwriter list (Latham.Hamner.B/G, Dufour and Slater) that means that Dufour wrote the breakdown and B/G wrote the dialog.

Sorry to keep harping on this, but I, for one, have NEVER understood the Y&R writing credits. Could you possibly demonstrate what you're talking about? For instance, All My Children credits are listed. Written by (Head Writer(s)) Barbara Esensten James Harmon Brown Written by (Associate Head Writers) Addie Walsh Chip Hayes Michelle Patrick Amanda L. Beall Jeff Beldner (story editor) Written by Stephen Demorest (breakdown writer) Karen Lewis (script writer)
