Hehe- I remember they used to show those couples in pairs. Shane & Kim were always on the same days as Steve & Kayla. Justin & Adrienne always were on the same days as Roman & Diana. I knew before I opened the thread that those would be the top 8 actors of that year- they were all you saw!

So Angelique de Wendt played a character named Charlene? I remember her playing Lexie for a time.

Forgive me for my unsolicited commentary, but I want to revisit some of these characters.

4. Genie Francis (Diana Colville) 149 -- Loved Diana! It was so great having Genie on "Days." Loved her friendship with Mike, her romance with Roman (John), her adventures in Greece, and her fears that Marlena was still alive. Stefano kept taunting them, and the mystery woman kept appearing everywhere. When Diana was kidnapped by Stefano, he sent Roman (John) a photo of Marlena and Diana together. The ISA said that the photo was doctored, but that the shot of Marlena was recent. Eventually, it was proven that an actress had been pretending to be Marlena. Now we know Stefano really DID have Marlena . . . somewhere. Genie and Matt Ashford had some good shouting scenes. I remember Diana stealing the icon from the museum and confronting her mother about the disk. My favorite scene was on the island, in the simulated Roman Brady house, when the mystery woman turned around and Diana said, "Marlena, you are still alive." But the story got stupid when Cal showed up. Then, when Genie's contract expired, the character simply got out of bed in the middle of the night, wrote a goodbye note, dyed her hair black, and sneaked out of Salem. At least she left her share of the Spectator to Vern.

5. Charles Shaughnessy (Shane Donovan/Drew Donovan) 145 -- It was so wrong on so many counts for Shane and Kimberly to split up. But they ruined this character when it was revealed that he had known all along that Roman was alive, but had chosen to save Drew and let Roman stay with Stefano. He was further destroyed when he slept with Kayla!!!

6. Judi Evans (Adrienne Kiriakis) 120 -- I love Judi Evans, but Adrienne was often very, very boring. Loved her scenes with Anjelica. Hated the stupid literacy storyline with Emilio. Hated the crush Neil had on her. After she left Salem, Justin was on his way out and then learned that Alexander was alive. Suddenly, we have Adrienne rushing back into the Kiriakis mansion for one final scene. That was a surprise, and I miss Judi . . . all over again . . . already.

8. Patsy Pease (Kimberly Brady) 114 -- One of my all-time favorites. The producers did her wrong. (And what ever happened to her husband, Philip Collier? He hasn't been mentioned in any of her return visits.)

9. Charlotte Ross (Eve Donovan) 107 -- Hated Eve, but I can't listen to "O Holy Night" without thinking of Nick and Eve. Brings tears to my eyes.

14. Jane Elliot (Angelica Deveraux) 91 -- She was awesome!

16. Billy Hufsey (Emilio Ramirez) 83 -- What did Jennifer or Adrienne ever see in this doofus?

18. Karen Moncrieff (Gabrielle Pascal) 77 -- Hated her!

19. Billy Warlock (Frankie Brady) 72 -- Couldn't believe it when he slept with Paula.

20. Lisa Howard (April Ramirez) 71 -- Hated her and her whole stupid family! What a waste of airtime!

22. Joseph Gallison (Neil Curtis) 68 -- I miss Neil. Let's just hope that he and Liz reconnected at some point.

28. George Jenesky (Nick Corelli) 56 -- Hated him as Eve's pimp. Hated him for trying to force Frankie and Jennifer to be in a porno movie. Loved his phantom-like return from the dead and his unlikely friendship with Steve. Loved the Christmas stuff with Eve. Hated how they turned him into a murderer.

30. Arleen Sorkin (Calliope Jones Bradford) 53 -- She never should have agreed to play the robot twin. She was better with Eugene, but Ethan was okay. What was the point of her return for the Shawn/Mimi and Marlena/Alex weddings? She was so out of character in planning Marlena's wedding. She didn't even attend the weddings after planning them. And where was her goodbye scene? A la the Wesleys, I hate it when old faves come back only to disappear with no goodbye scene.

32. Jay Robinson (Monty Dolan) 46 -- Useless character.

33. Valerie Karasek (Serena Colville) 43 -- What a cold-hearted woman.

*. Darrell Utley (Benjy Hawk) 43 -- I want Benjy back.

36. Michael Bays (Julio Ramirez) 37 -- Another useless character.

*. Joseph Campanella (Harper Deveraux) 37 -- He was great. I never had him pegged as the Riverfront Knifer, but he did poison Kayla for a while. When he was unmasked after trying to throw Kayla and Kimberly off the roof of the loft on the Fourth of July, it was a total shock to me! I did NOT like the ghostly visits that he and Duke made to Jack, though. Stupid!

39. Sherry Hursey (Paula Carson) 33 -- Slut.

42. Ryan Brennan (Max Brady) 26 -- Cute kid. I never found out for sure. Was he related to Missy?

43. Joe Colligan (Ethan Reilly) 24 -- Liked him.

*. Silvana Gallardo (Rosa Ramirez) 24 -- Rosa and Monty? GMAFB!

45. Sandy McPeak (Orion) 23 -- Cool stuff with Benjy and the triple rings that formed the key to the fake Roman Brady house on Stefano's island.

47. Christopher Stone (Bill Horton) 20 -- He was sleeping with Janice, who, as a child, was Mickey and Maggie's foster daughter. Still a little on the incestuous side, if you ask me.

49. Scott Colomby (Jose Torres) 18 -- Stefano DiMera, he was not.

62. Samantha Barrows (Noelle Curtis) 11 -- I liked her a lot! She and the original Carrie (Andrea Barber) were good child actors.

*. Pamela Brull (Ellen Hawk) 10 -- She didn't last long before being murdered on the pier.

*. Camilla More (Grace Forrester) 10 -- Did we really need Gillian's twin? And why did Neil have to fall for her? Bland!

68. Chelsea Noble (Kristina Andropolis) 9 -- Didn't she take turns sleeping with Justin and his Uncle Vic?

77. Morgan Woodward (Phillip Colville) 4 -- Another mean old guy. He was Jock's friend Punk on "Dallas."

*. Angelique de Windt (Charlene) 1 -- She also played Lexie (after Cyndi, I think). She seemed a lot taller and a lot more masculine. Renee is the best Lexie we've had!

Love that unsolicited commentary Dr Chip and I agree for the most part.

I have to say that of all of Salem's nefarious teenage rabble-rousing parent-troubling devils, Charlotte Ross was the best. The character was absolutely horrible to Kim but the actress was just awesome.

Jane Elliot rocked the house! Genie was great too.

I didn't buy Bill and Susan Hayes' new book, but I skimmed most of it at a bookstore one day. Susan made an interesting comment about working with an actress who later moved to prime time. She made her sound like an arrogant [!@#$%^&*]. From the context of what she was saying, it sounded like she was referring to Charlotte Ross.

Learn something new every day! I've got that book on hold at the library by the way, so I'll check it out for myself soon.

I have the book- LOVED IT! :D

56. Steve Burton (Harris Michaels) 13

I'd kill to see such averages for him on GH now. Alas, Borg has eaten the show.

Rumors out of the NYPD Blue set are that she was a bit of a [!@#$%^&*] there too, at a minimum "difficult to work with." Shame because I really love Charlotte Ross. She's a kickass actress.

I agree. Forget Carrie slapping Sami at the church. I still remember when Kimberly slapped Eve at the hospital. :-
