AMC: Jonathan has replaced Jamal in storyline...

So I was looking at the recaps on ABC.com for the past few days, etc. I read through them and there has been NO mention of Jonathan - but there has been Jamal's name everywhere. Since Jamal's portrayer up and left AMC without a warning - TPTB had to make a quick decision to throw Jonathan into the role that Jamal was supposed to be playing in this entire Emma/Kate crap.

So there is the explanation for Jonathan sticking his nose in all their business and all of a sudden caring about nothing else than to save Emma and Annie. It was supposed to be Jamal, but the guy suddenly quit and left AMC scrambling.

So all that drama yesterday about Jonathan vs. JR....here is a small explanation that could help fan the flames maybe?

So? NOW they choose to act like they never heard of recasting?

Awww the poor poor PTB.

Like R Sinclair said they could have recasted, and they had no obligation to let Marcus Patrick leave. He was signed to a contract! They could have made him wait until they eliminated his role.

Or better yet, why couldn't ERIN have been plugged in. Erin and Jamal were basically the same character.

So this doesn't change anything for me. Jonathan is an annoying freak.

Thanks for the info though, that had never crossed my mind as the reason.

Marcus was so not working in the role anyway. The role was a mistake from the get go because it seemed like they had no idea what to do with the character.

I wonder if Connie Fletcher is on the chopping block because, like I said, Erin could have been given those scenes. Also, given Erin and Aidan's history, it would have made them more interesting. Well, not more interesting. Just interesting.

Also, while I was always impressed with Jeff Branson during his initial run and then during the Forrest Gump story with Lily, I am not liking his "acting" lately. I can't put my finger on it but for one thing it seems like sometimes he slips into the brain-damaged form of speech randomly throughout scenes.

Both Lavery siblings need to go.

its pretty much a sad state if all these characters are that interchangeable with each other. Jamal's not around, so let's give Jonthan his lines, which Erin also could have recited.

Connie Fletcher I would imagine isn't that big of a ticket so they'd be more likely to keep her on the backburner and not take a huge hit. Erin has become useless and really has no storyline looming. Unless its connected to her brothers. I think they should cut their loses and have Erin take some corporate job elsewhere. Its really too bad because Erin had potential and Connie is a decent young actress. Its too bad the stones she had for her initial few months are all but gone and all she does is prop her brothers now. Erin had fire. The character though sadly can't go back to that.

I don't find Erin interesting she adds nothing to Fusion and she is no longer needed to play mediator for Jon and Ryan now that Jon is healed. There's nothing for her to do and the cast on AMC is already oversized. I've never really cared for her character and I don't think I will at this rate.

I would agree that Erin could of used the Jamal material much more so then Jon. Jon's all the sudden caring for Annie seems rather sloppy. Erin would have made a bit more sense.

They never should have brought Marcus on to play Jamal. From the get go you had to wonder if they were just making his stuff up as we go along. He originally was supposed to just be this law student..... to mix it up with Erin. The fans say why isn't he Jamal, boom he's Jamal and it took like a month for the Fryes to even know he was in town. It was ridiculous. Last we heard from him he was asking Erin out on that date. Hmm so I guess Erin is getting a good story, off screen

Jamal, Anita and Reggie are all running around Pine Valley  with no actors playing them. Its so lazy of the writers to at least explain their absences. That basketball camp Reggie is at only can last so long.

That's what pisses me off. Isn't Reggie a little too OLD to be going to summer camp? I mean, his ex-girlfriend is a cosmetics executive afterall.
