All: DAYS or Y&R

I watched the entire Y&R marathon - which was amazing because I usually turn it off half way thru one show.

But I had to watch to see what Mr. Kim was up to. I love that story.

I like him in scenes with Jack and Victor (I am so glad Victor is back to normal). Y&R is fairly easy to get into.

I am not going to watch the Carmen stuff. I wish she would just leave town. I won't be able to watch that story.

And I'm not sure who Sheila is....

Sheila is Lauren's psychotic arch-nemesis. She's pretty much the BIGGEST daytime villainess.

KR, you're name is now simply, "King"? What's with all the changes?

And back to the subject of this topic, I think DAYS is in better shape right now.

Y&R has just bored me to death... sorry to say.

I'm done now. I swear. KR was just too short.

Based on overall performance, I'd have to say that Y&R is currently better than DAYS. Y&R is currently on a roll (IMHO) with their set of rotating frontburner stories. LML and her team are doing a great job and though some may question her decisions, eventually we see there is a reasoning to her sometimes called "madness". As Chris perfectly stated, she and her team appear to be trying to find a way to write for everyone. Though some characters may not have their own story at the time, they are contributing to another which is good. Compared to last year, Y&R is 100%.

We're seeing great stories that are based on plot but driven by the characters. That is something that soap fans in this day and age aren't really used to getting. It's either plot, or character driven, not a good combination of both.

As for DAYS, with all of the progress they've made, there is still some things that need to be changed. But I think within a year, two at the most, DAYS will be on the right track (and I'm not saying they aren't now).

As far as the pacing goes, I am liking that you now have to tune in or you'll feel like you've missed something (this goes for both shows). I remember that last year on DAYS, I could not watch for about a week and it would seem as if people were having the exact same conversation that was on when I last watched. DAYS isn't the only soap guilty of this (GH has become VERY repetitive with their dialogue), but it appeared as if they were the worst offender.

As someone who watched a lot of Hogan's work on ATWT, I can see the similarities in the characters, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I think at first people me see it as a copy, but I believe that in time he'll find a way to branch out from it.

Each show has it's own positive and negative things going on right now. I consider both shows to be in transition and will continue to be in transition for a while to come.

My only comment is that I totally agree with Chris B. and Ryan C. :) Well I guess I will add that for the first time in years I am looking forward to a November Sweeps on Y&R, because I know that it won't be boring this year.

Very well said too Ryan.

Well, these two soaps have always been by #1 and #2 for as long as I can remember. Historically Y&R has definetly been the better written soap and has been the more realistic soap (big time).

I will say that both soaps are leaps and bounds better than the rest of the soaps (except ATWT, which is doing good too right now).

At this point in time, I would say DAYS is the better soap at the moment, but again they are two totally different soaps and it is hard to compare them. I think DAYS has a better and more talented headwriter, but I do not have a problem with LML.

Y&R I think is currently producing better acting, though DAYS' actors have REALLY stepped it up...however DAYS is still in transition and I expect the actors will only get better and better.

As long as Y&R, DAYS and ATWT (my favorite 3) all remain as good as they are or better I will be happy!

Now if this was a DAYS or GH, DAYS or AMC, DAYS or B&B, DAYS or OLTL then there is absolutely no question WHAT SO EVER which soap is the better soap.

I am with Mitch. Days, ATWT, and Y&R are head and shoulders above the rest right now. I am just really down on Y&R for the reasons I mentioned in my previous posts. ATWT is consistent but there is just such an excitement around Days right now and in the writing that I just feel it is the best at the moment.
