Jerry Orbach was gone for several years and the show continued just fine.  With some good casting, there's no reason TOS couldn't thrive.   With all the former soap and the Broadway actors in New York, it's easy to find cast members.  OC is doing reasonably well due to Stabler, and decent writing.

As much as the former cast is appreciated, just changing districts with a different cast of characters would work and the others could be referenced as former/ current colleagues.  Besides, Anthony Anderson will be looking for work now that Black-ish is ending. He could be the captain now...

I stopped watching L&O about a decade before it ended. The show became too focused on paper-thin "oh let's cover THIS scandal now" material and lost any soul, and a number of cast changes had made the show a national joke [just ask Elisabeth Rohm...). I wish they had kept the show on at least one more season, because I do get why Dick Wolf wanted that record, but unless they commit to going back to the early, gritty days of L&O, without the glossy cast and vacuous tone, then they should just leave it to the past.

I doubt they're looking for huge ratings for this and will settle for "solid" which it should do. It's obvious this will be taking the planned place of the scrapped L & O: For The Defense on Thursdays. NBC will get a solid night of programming.

need them to explain this set bullsh!t right now

Also, not going to lie, I'm tired of the persistent crossing-over of Special Victims Unit and Organized Crime. Once in a while feels special, but, at this point, this feels like two-hour hybrid series: Organized Crime Victims Unit.

    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
    • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
    • He a dirty dog! Those are his kids and he hurt everyone. At this point he needed to just come clean. I can't believe I was lusting over this man! I hope they aren't quick to forgive.
    • The way I took it is that he did not want to confirm or deny anything until he talked to Nicole first. He was very calculated with the wording he used with Martin and Kat
