IMO, best actors and actresses were: Lesley Anne Down, Sarah Buxton, Sam Behrens, Kathleen Noone, Priscilla Garita, Gordon Thompson, Clive Robertson (I never liked the character of Ben, but Clive was good, IMO), the woman that played Francesca (I forgot her name..)...

Lisa Guerrero Coles played Francesca.

Sunset Beach was a VERY entertaining soap. It had a mix of camp and traditional soap, though often tending towards the former. Unlike some, the dialogue was more adult and production values were in fact excellent- you had a LOT of location shoots. If the writing was more even, it might have been great.

Sarah Buxton is a comic genius, she made Annie the most irresistable vixen. Who can forget her unique chemistry with Lesley Anne Down and the hilarious fights? I think she deserved an emmy for her work on the show, because she also had a desperate streak in the part that made you root for her.

Dominique Jennings as the psychotic Virginia was also a hoot and a half, Sam Behrens was an outstanding anchor for the show and Kathleen Noone brought real heart to the character of Bette. Those were all my faves. Priscilla Garita as Gabi was a fantastic character, she was perhaps the most complex and interesting of the entire show in its 3 year history. Oh and i agree about Francesca... she made a huge impact. Such a [!@#$%^&*]!

My fave moment was when she popped out of the cake at Grenadines after being shot in a slinky catsuit and screamed "YOU!" at the crowd of suspects, who all happened to be standing together lol.

The show was great.

Sarah Buxton was by far the best. She was the star of the show.

Annie > Meg

I liked SUN- especially the first 2 years of it, and some of what was going on towards the end (Francesca's murder was killer). Some of the better performances over the years: Sarah Buxton as Annie was a revelation. Annie was one of a kind & Buxton brilliantly infused her with all the qualities (desperation, quirky, beeyotch, seductress, cunning, vulnerable). Great find. Some other notables on the soap: Leslie Anne Down (Olivia), Sam Behrens (Gregory), Lisa Guerrero Coles (Francesca), Kathleen Noone (Bette), Eddie Cibrian (Cole), Vanessa Dorman (Caitlin #1), Priscilla Garita (Gabi), Margarita Cordova (Carmen), Gordon Thomson (AJ), Dax Griffin (Tim), and Dominique Jennings (Virginia). I absolutely lovvved Cordova & thought her scenes with Garita were always on fire. My favorite rivals on the show for the last year.

I miss it, but not as much as Santa Barbara, Another World, or Loving.

I don't think it's easy to pick just one from that group.

All those actors were good...well most of them anyways.

Remember Tyus? Me neither.

But my favorites would have to be Sarah Buxton out of the women.

Annie was a great character and had to be fun as heck to play.

Loved Annie and all the stuff she got into.

For the men I will go with Clive Robertson.

Ben was the typical soap hero...but he was really good as his evil twin, Derick.

I want to see this show again.

I miss it.

The show was campy and fun, not trying to pull an Emmy reel like GH. That doesn't mean there weren't some outstanding actors on the show. In my humble opinion anyway.

Sarah Buxton had the role of a lifetime with Annie -- she just ran away with the show. Lesley-Anne Down, Sam Behrens, Clive Robertson and Eddie Cibrian were also on form.

Susan Ward (Meg) -- eh. She had bad days and good days. A lot of her best scenes were with Ben (Robertson).

And the dude from Another World who played Meg's father (John Martin?) was excellent. He was pretty much recurring but who knows if SuBe had lasted a few more years? He was kinda hot in a Robert Newman way, too.

One of the best actresses, for me, was Kathleen Noone as Bette. Class, fire and experience always shine through. KN could make me cry as easily as laugh. She was phenomenal!

And Priscilla Garita played my favorite character, Gabi. As MarlandRulez said, "perhaps the most complex and interesting of the entire show in its 3 year history." I think the best single performance I have ever seen on ANY soap (and I'm including Y&R, GH, GL, all the usual Emmy-winning suspects in that group) was Gabi's breakdown on the witness stand when she admitted that her father had raped her. Seriously, we've seen scenes like this on other soaps before. But I got chills and my hair stood on end when Garita did it. It was so raw and painful, in fact, that I felt I was spying on somebody's confession for real.

I for one could never get into Sunset Beach. It was very slow but not really in a good way, IMO. Yet, it was great in comedic performances.

Whereas many people think Sarah Buxton were the highlight of it, I thought very differently. Kathleen Noone along with Lesley-Anne Down were not just one of THE best duos on daytime but to die for when they shared scenes.

The rest of cast never did it for me. Some were okay, others just dreadful. (Overall they were still much better than those model folks on Passions though...) They often lost/axed their better performers to primetime or other shows...

OMG, y'all have no idea how much I floved SuBe. I think it would have fit in perfectly with DAYS and Passions, and I with NBC had gave it a little more time.
