Members jcal
Ponz - hey its jcal - any update on Matt and Missy? Their send-off? Anything? I can't believe that again they will not be on screen, together, next week... Corday is such a [!@#$%^&*] [!@#$%^&*].
Members Evan
I suppose the other character leaving might be Tek. The problem with DAYS is Corday: I doubt he will give Sheffer free rein. Whose idea was it to fire Matt Ashford? Sheffer wanted to keep MA on DAYS, he had a SL all prepared for the character of Jack, but he was overruled by Ken - not a good sign for the future, I think! For all of you so optimistic about the future of DAYS, I hope you guys get what you want or are expecting. As for me, I won't be watching after Jack/Jen's last scenes! Yes, Corday is a [!@#$%^&*] [!@#$%^&*]!
Members Keith
I doubt Corday the tool will keep his nose out of things, but I'm still optimistic, cautiously, for the future. For once.
Members jcal
Good point Evan! Corday will never give Hogan free reign. My fear is if at ANY point the ratings dip while under Hogan, Corday will start interfering big time and then the show will be cancelled for sure. I, too, will not be watching closely once J&J leave next month.
Members DaysForever
You all are forgetting what Gabe said: He said that Hogan Sheffer has been paid over $500,000 to headwrite by having free control over the writing. I remember him saying that. And I do believe him. Gabe, if you want to clarify it for yourself, please post.
Members jcal
Wait, HS is only making $500K? I thought for sure that he would be making at least a million to write DAYS but I guess with the budget, etc....
Members Keith
Yes, well, Reilly was given free reign, too.
Members SteveFrame
Before things get out of hand again, can we all just try to remember that alot of the stuff we are getting upset about is rumor. I have not heard anyone from the show confirm that Hogan wanted Matthew Ashford and had a story prepared for him. And Corday nor anyone has said yet that Hogan was making 500K and would have free reign. At least not that I have seen. As far as I know none of these have been discussed by a rep from the show, just picked as rumors here and there. I personally think Corday is dumb not to give Hogan free reign, but even Goutman didn't give Hogan free reign at ATWT. That lead to some arguments too. I think there needs to be some check and balance system, but I don't want Corday constantly interfering and keeping things going just because of fan bases, etc. He needs to let Hogan try to change some things. I also personally think that Jack is the type of character that Hogan would like to write for, but with that I can't say that he already had plans for Jack. Before I pass judgement on Corday or Hogan about the cuts, I will wait to hear from a fully reputable source. There are others I would have liked to seen cut, but no matter who was cut it was going to anger someone.
Members Moriah
I suppose that's a good spoiler for Lumi, but once again the focus is on Sami and Lucas is a nobody. Sami needs growth? Well Lucas was completely destroyed in the last two years, being turned into the next Austin. He needs just as much work.
Members sungrey
And look where it got us. Seriously, Hogan's the right person for this show. The one thing I worry about is Ken, and if he and NBC can keep their noses out of the writing then this show could be headed to heights I haven't seen since Sheri Anderson wrote it. I love what he's come up with so far. It's about damn time Sami grew up and it's even more damn time that Marlena got her friggin' mind back. Members Ponz
Well duh, Steve. They aren't exactly going to come out and say that their hotshot new writer wanted Matt on the show but the producer over-ruled him. It's like pulling teeth just to get them to comment on an actor leaving...they certainly aren't going to discuss the backstage politics behind it all. However, I have heard from enough reliable sources that the aforementioned rumour is true. Regarding Corday/Sheffer, I think it's optimistic in the extreme to think Corday would give 100% creative control to Hogan. I never saw Gabe's post about Hogan's creative control, but his first post about Matt's firing specifically said...."the producers want Ashford and Warlock out". Members DaysForever
OK. I finally found Gabe's (EricaKane4life) post about Sheffer's creative control and more: There.
Members SteveFrame
Well Ponz and DaysForever, I am through with all these "so called reliable sources". There was some of the stuff that all these insiders and reliable sources stated that has come true, but an overwhelming amount of it has not been true - including some of the stuff that Gabe told us. None of them have proven themselves to be anymore reliable than Soaps In Depth or Soap Opera Weekly or Soap Opera Digest with all their rumors and things. So no I won't believe them at this point. They have burned me too many times. I esp. got tired of all the conjecture that Hogan saved [!@#$%^&*], and then the next time we turn around he is the reason she got fired. And then there was all the stuff reported on all these online reliable sources that was supposed to be big stories for Carrie, etc. And then in another thread we have Stefano already returning and then another magazine comes out with a quote from Mascolo that says he hasn't been approached. There are just too many contradictions for me to believe anything. I feel that the rate of pay for Hogan is probably right, and I feel that he probably will have control. I don't feel he will want to do another show without it. I know it was reported a lot that he and Goutman had issues over several things during his stint at ATWT. I think some of them had to do with Hunt Block and the Craig character. Now whether Hogan's original idea was carried out or stopped - who knows. Maybe Goutman's interference is what made Hogan's stories flop at times, or maybe Goutman gave in and it was Hogan's actual story that flopped. We will never know on that. With this being Hogan's 2nd show, we will learn more about Hogan's style. And esp. if Corday does give him free reign. But even with that unless Hogan or Corday spill the beans, we will never know again. Who knows what caused all the problems with JER this time around. Those that hate JER say it was all JER's fault, and it was so bad because he was given free reign. But who knows how much Corday interfered with JER's writing. Alot of the problem could have been Corday. Unless one of them spills the beans we will never know, but for fans it will always be JER. I am just glad that this time when Matthew Ashford was fired that JER was no where near the show - this time it definitely wasn't his fault. And Ponz, I still feel that Melissa Reeve's leaving is what cost Ashford and probably even Warlock their jobs. The producers had a hard job ahead of them knowing they had to cut some vets to meet the budget cuts. Reeve's deciding to leave made the decision to cut Ashford and Warlock an easy one. I think that is the real reason they got fired.
Members Angie79
That is what I think too! I don't think it had to do with somebody not liking MA at all.
Members Drew
but if these are all happening around October, then Mimi wouldn't have given birth yet. Unless she's either a comatos incubator, or her baby is implanted into Bonnie upon her death. I dont see Lucas as being destroyed. Lucas matured alot over the last couple years, mostly to be superior to Sami. Lucas would only need minor tweaks. And going on this info for Lumi, sounds like Sheffer's gonna make them a combination of Simon & Katie and Jack & Carly. Loving it.
