  1. Well, i can tell you that at the 1989 Daytime Emmy Awards, which would have been awarding scenes & episodes that were broadcast the year before, so 1988., SB won 6 out of 9 main categories. Nobody has ever matched that. There just had to have been a lot of good stuff going on!
  2. I'll bet! Got anything to report?
  3. So, when I said that we now know that Clarie left of her own whatever & put in Pren (ThnxWRiche) did you think I was being sarcastic? Because I was literally thanking her for the information that no one fired Claire & CL was tired & hated to go & they hated to see her go, but you gotta let people take care of themselves. She gave up that info to me right after her Locher Room chat in the Notes to the chat. Sorry if I confused the issue. Isn't that quote upon joining the team just divine?
  4. No, I don't. Quickest look: Wikipedia: "On April 1, 2009, CBS announced that it would be canceling Guiding Light after a run of 72 years (15 on radio and 57 on television) due to low ratings. The show taped its final scenes for CBS on August 11, 2009, and its final episode on the network aired on September 18, 2009." However ATWT shows a Sept. date, so my mistake it's only GL that they did on April Fools' Day.
  5. So, now you've seen one item that Angela Shapiro fired her. You can run a tally. But, WR adores CL & vice versa. Or CL did while alive. RIP. Only Claire's own exhaustion, being tired of being the HW of GH, a 24/7 job for 4 or 5 yrs. takes its toll. Pete Lemay & others have talked about HW Burnout Rates. CL left at her own request. WR has talked about how hard & taxing the HW job is. Thnx for adding that!! 👏
  6. I just watched Matrix 4 Resurrections & boy was it ever good! And I woke up singing "Let's Dance" by Nile Rodgers & Adam https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=adam+lambert+nile+rodgers+let's+dance Lambert
  7. If only it had really been what it seemed: April Fool's Day!
  8. Well, she did flaunt the Kill the Lesbian trope. That was short-sighted. But, she does possess a gift. Gentleman Jack S2E3 5-9-2022 "Tripe all over the place, presumably." Maryanna: Have you had any dinner? No & it would not be unwelcome. M: I'm wretched. You've no idea what you've done to me. Destroyed me! You're not in love with her!
  9. The most glaring error one can imagine, Hinsey got the date of the ATWT & GL cancellation wrong. For god's sake, they announced it on April Fools' Day! How ya gonna miss that one?!!
  10. Lingering Questions Have Answers! GH: I know that the Daytime Day of Recognition started with all the soaps doing something to recognize HIV+ and AIDS one day around the 20th of June, but at GH, who started the Nurses' Ball? Was it Wendy Riche? Some information but not an answer. According to the GH Fan Wiki https://general-hospital.fandom.com/wiki/ the first Nurses' Ball was in 1994. Wendy Riche was EP from Jan. 28, 1992-Jan. 22, 2001. Answer: YES! We were right, she did think it up. Wendy Riche! It was her idea, that she pitched to #ClaireLabine & magnificent Writers @MicheleValJean @MulcaheyPatrick & Karen Harris & Elizabeth Korte & they loved it & ran with it & through the invaluable aid & assistance of Producers, Directors, the Cast, the Art Dept., Wardrobe, Hair & Make-up, Sound & Camera take us to Rehearsal & then the Nurses' Ball was born! GH: We know now that Claire Labine left GH by her own choosing, because she was tired, etc. (Thnx WRiche) so now I want to know who fired Wendy Riche & why in the heck did they do so? Angela Shapiro. Why? Who knows? She obviously couldn't see a gem in her midst! Mayhap & perhaps she was an FOJ!
  11. Yeah, I knew there were some crew in it & I knew it wasn't the whole cast (despite the fact that it looks like a CAST OF THOUSANDS, METRO-GOLD... ) but I didn't do an actual count, eeee. Thnx for making it more real by the moment. !! Whoa. I just cannot get over the size!
  12. Great idea! Why do I think almost any suggestion would be an improvement over what they do, do?
  13. Untrue. I know for a fact that she gleefully & cruelly took people to the cleaners for what *she* thought about *their* writing. She wouldn't have credited that not everyone wanted to write like her.
  14. Be still my heart. What lovely ideas. Cass's brother, Morgan Winthrop. So, you don't mean to tell me that ... Betty Buckley was a beard!
  15. Well, everyone knew that the Emmys had a bias against DOOL & they resented it. Some people even called it a Curse. Wooh-wooh. Weekly was good, to me, until they ousted Mimi Torchin & escorted her out of the building. Then, they were truly lost.
  16. A poster in another forum felt moved to speak & explain some things about the Daytime Emmys & make some reminders. He explained the Blue Ribbon panels being made up of peers, actors on actors, writers on writers, etc. And, they watch the reels & score them in points. When the points are tallied, it yields 2 things, at that same time, 1-the list of nominees and 2-the winner. Picked at the same time. The work covered is one calendar year, this year 2021. None of this year is eligible until next year. It is better for the genre if everyone wins some Emmy. It is not really great for one show to sweep it. The last time that almost happened was SB in 1989 winning 6 out of 9. Actors reels are 15 min. tops, whatever scenes you want, suggest about 3 scenes. (This person thought they should be 20 min.) Show is two full episodes, not edited. Writing & Directing are edited to show one storyline. He went over all the changes actor reels have been, from 4 episodes, etc.
  17. NBC had a 25 yr contract with SOD that just happened to come up then & there was no interest in a new contract. About the same time AOL's contract with SOD came up & there was no interest in a new contract. AOL had been their chats & message boards. I can't believe it's been 15 yrs since Jossip! Hard to imagine her staying away from controversy. I think she got her book out just in time. Soaps have had such a decline in interest, well, except for nostalgia aka classic soaps, that's still alive & well. And, to her credit, her book is good.
  18. The yr after AW went off the air, I was told that they lost 1 mil subscribers. The person who told me, who had reason to know, was not an AW fan but was of the opinion that a significant part of the loss was the loss of AW fans. I was a big fan of the Editors' Corner that they began to do. With all the regular features, they were insistent there be a balance. Thumbs had to balance, everything had to. So, since it is a business & they have weekly deadlnes, Wed., midday. Everything was pre-assigned. You knew you were doing a thumbs down, for example & that week you were really tickled with your shows. Too bad. Had to turn in a criticism. Like that, applied to all the regular features so they lobbied to get something like Editor's Corner which would be Editor's option what to write. They each had their TV tuned to a soap all day as long as soaps were on, so in theory everyone watched every soap. Obviously there's a big hole in the bucket, shows are on opposite each other! But, they watch a lot of shows. I thought Hinsey's favorite show was Y&R. She was completely taken with Michelle Stafford who is a friend of hers. I didn't realize she had her column back. Sorta suprising, sorta not.
  19. My mother's local affiliate, Greenville, SC, did not air Yr 1 of SB & then they didn't air the last year, either. My mother was so mad.
  20. I kinda dread knowing. I have friends who used to work there. He*l I have friends who still do work there. I guess what I do is ... worry.
  21. Overheard: reference to a long, tiring tape day; feeling that the whole cast was there & that they'd never worked with so many people in their life.
  22. Yes, the fact that he was there to assist John Randolph in preparing for Pat's murder trial is part of what I found out & included in the new text for the recap. My oops that Maryanne wasn't born yet. I jumped to an unfounded conclusion when, of course, big sister Lee is right there in the recap. As to whether Don Hughes was in Bay City or not, you might be right, but that's not the way it reads to me. It is strange to think that Agnes would have been confusing the fans so. And, at that time they would've still been half hour soaps & I know there were plenty of people who changed the channel after watching AW to another network to catch ATWT! Adding: The ultimate AW expert, Eddie Drueding, has just gotten back to me that - It seems that info about Dru/ATWT is faulty in many ways. Dru came to AW in 1964; there was no AW appearance by Donald; John's daughter at the time was Lee; Michael Bauer never appeared on ATWT; and Dru wasn't actually related to the Matthews. And, so it goes.
  23. Of course I'm an old fuddy-duddy since I wish each cover was a onesie - one show, one character, one story or one couple! I am horrified at that picture they used, though, of JvD. Believe it or not, what's on the cover drives sales for in-store purchases. I'm sure there's some corollary to a theorem that the more shows you can cram on there, the more sales.
  24. A new bit of canon about another ATWT character coming to AW but being only offscreen. I was looking for something, else, on ATWT's wikipedia page when I saw this: Quote Donald works for Mitchell Dru ( Geoffrey Lum) on this sh... And I went into investigative mode. The conclusions create a new little tidbit of canon. The cast of characters: Mitchell Dru, an attorney from Oakdale (ATWT) now in Bay City (AW). Donald Hughes, another Oakdale attorney (ATWT) who at times works for Mitchell Dru or with him, also now in Bay City (AW). Mike or Michael Bauer, another attorney but from Springfield (GL), also now in Bay City (AW). Hope Bauer, daughter of Mike Bauer, also in Bay City (AW) with her father. What we knew before: Mitchell Dru was from ATWT but in AW but offscreen. Mike Bauer & his daughter Hope were from GL but were in AW onscreen. We knew nothing about Donald Hughes & he will remain offscreen. Now looking at the recap in question, we find we are here: http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/aw1966.html Another World Synopsis FEBRUARY 8, 1966 (EP. #441) This is my rewrite of the recap with these last names added in & the new info: At the hospital coffee shop, Mitchell Dru told Michael Bauer that John Randolph agreed to see him that very evening, then castigated the press for harping on Pat's trial. Joe visited Lee again to tell her that though she's torturing herself for all the things she's done to others, her feelings toward Pat haven't changed. Though he assured her it was too early for such a change, he felt she was capable of it if she made a real effort. Mitchell Dru introduced John Randolph and Michael Bauer, who compared notes on their daughters (Maryanne & Hope, respectively). Michael Bauer said he worked with Donald Hughes mostly on his criminal briefs, and had worked previously with George Hayes in a much smaller firm. John Randolph, impressed that Michael Bauer was itching for more responsibility, hired him since he'd been having to turn down cases, and also because Mitchell Dru was too involved with teaching to completely help out in the office while John Randolph took a few days to recuperate. Lee reminded Mitchell Dru of his warnings about revenge. Joe earned Lee's trust by not telling Mitchell Dru about her suicide attempt. Mitchell Dru told Lee of John Randlph's plans for Michael Bauer, and encouraged her to visit her father. In the hall, Joe dismissed Mitchell Dru's appraisal of his positive influence on Lee, then distressed him by saying John Randolph's surgery will cancel any meetings. Mitchell Dru then tried to convince John Randolph that Michael Bauer would be detained in meetings all day tomorrow. Note: George Hayes was a Guiding Light character played by Phillip Sterling (1962-1968), who went on to play AW's Rafe Carter from 1970-1971. Note: Mike Bauer & Michael Bauer are the same person. Additional: Lance Jackson:Donna, Mitchell Dru certainly got around on the Irna Phillips created P&G soaps! He was originally a character on “The Brighter Day”. When it was cancelled in 1962, Dru moved to Oakdale and “As The World Turns” and became a member of the the Lowell, Barnes, Lowell and Hughes law firm. He was considering representing Ellen in her quest to regain custody of Dan whom she’d given up for adoption but ultimately turned her down. I’m assuming that Mitchell Dru arrived in Bay City and Another World sometime in 1966. He was responsible for getting Mike Bauer to Bay City from The Guiding Light. I assume too that Mitchell was somehow related to the Matthews family because in this 1968 episode Alice refers to him as Uncle Dru. He must be the brother of one of the Matthews wives.
