Missed you & glad to see you back. Me, I'm thumbs up on the kids, both in the casting & in the new writing using family so much. Danny is my new delight. But I also enjoy Aiden & Rocco even though I have trouble telling them apart. Jake is harder but it's likely because he is playing so angry & sullen. Also he's had much fewer lines. Days 1 through 11 except for Day 8, I've been very happy camper. On Day 8 all of a sudden it was short scenes again & lots of cutting back & forth. I felt like I was at a tennis match.

I am amazed at what has happened in only 11 days. My problem with Rocco is that he looks so much like Aiden. I figure which it is either by family context or by dialogue. Rocco is not the one worrying whether his sourdough starter will work.

On her IG account yesterday Shannon Peace indicated a post would be coming soon about how breakdown writers also wrote dialogue at GH. I did not screengrab it but I thought I would watch for the upcoming one & grab it.

When I read this I was interested in her reference to Breakdown writers also writing dialogue.

That is how you spell it. And believe me people all over are saying green, acting coach, lessons. I would just refer you all to early Kristian Alfonso, Lisa Trusel & Missy Reeves. There is a very grand tradition in daytime of casting talented youngsters & letting them learn on the job.

When FiCore was instituted soap writers were set at odds against each other over it. Pro & Con, very strong feelings. Some of that still exists. And, like pre-FiCore if a show hired a scab on to write after a strike was over, the WGA fined the show to penalize them for giving a job to a non-union member over a union member. FiCore are dues-paying union members who can never vote, never serve on a committee, never hold office, etc. For what they give up they can write during a strike. (Their benefits like health insurance & retirement maybe stay intact.) Now if a show hires a FiCore scab to write after a strike there is no fine & no penalty because it's a union member. But, yeah, writers are glad to see the shows go on because everyone knows if they close the doors, they won't be opened back up. But, it is complicated! LOL Whew. Swajeski wrote it that Jake tried to convince Marley that she loved him & not to divorce him. NBC said she had to write it that Jake raped her. She said he never would. They battled over it. Finally, she gave in & wrote it their way, but in her head she decided at that moment, that as soon as her contract was up she was outta there. But, I do have to point out that Anne won an Emmy with that story on her reel. 🤔🙄😲🤪🙃 But, personally I never ever thought Jake would have raped Marley! I was amazed when I found that was also Swajeski's personal opinion.

The shows had deadlines for their ratings to be whatever they were supposed to be. Those deadlines were in late May, end of I believe. Susan D. Lee moved up the cancelation, even calling MADD back into the country from one of her foreign trips to do the thing. It is not known why Lee did this. We're really not in a position to know what kinds of contingency plans P&G/AW did or didn't have. I agree with you that they definitely should have had contingency plans. I agree 1000% with this. A different man was at ATWT the last several years than was at AW its last several years. And the real ending was planned around Helen Wagner, who died mere weeks before it would have been taped. Also, the rest here, where you compare Goutman/Ending/AW/ATWT, yes, totally agree. Also Goutman did specific destructive things to the show & the cast in the last several years. He did nothing like that at AW End. Plus, ATWT went from being the happiest set anywhere to miserable people. I was just discussing this with a friend the other day. They pointed out the situation with Goutman & Martha Byrne & said that was when they knew of it starting, which may have been the first destructive act. And he did that Q&A with Jen from Digest where he said he did not want to hear from fans because he knew what the show needed. What is true about that is that she gave him a chance to unsay that, asking him if he was sure he wanted it to sound that way.

I've finally capitulated. I was just a Carly fan hanging out with some Jarly fans. Now I've become Jarlyfied. Also I stopped resisting Chrome (Corinthos + Jerome). I still have no idea what Ava is up to but I'm going to relax & watch it happen. Spoiler I was specifically told that Ava & Sonny would not have sex in March. I'm aware of the calendar.

I heard that, too, but later I heard that it had only been a rumor & not something that had actually been considered. But, I have zero idea which is true. Supposedly the "clue" on screen was Donna holding 2 pillows & reaching out her hand to get a third one. ???

They found out they were canceled on April 12th, 1999, I believe. Their last real work day was May 25th, 1999. I know some people were at the studio for several days after that but nothing like the full cast or crew. A friend says he was the last person at the studio & that day was Memorial Day. So, they had a month & a half. Goutman asked for 2 full months. They said no. I believe he told them they couldn't do it in that amount of time. No idea what they said but they did not relent. They had their eye on PSSN's first day being the Monday after the break for Wimbledon. AW's last air date had to be June 25. What I didn't see was why they couldn't have been generous & let them work for 2 more weeks! Between last tape day May 25th & last broadcast, or air day, June 25th, wasn't that just lost time? But perhaps that time was spent getting rid of stuff & moving out of the studio. Wardrobe, sets, props, etc. ATWT was set to move into that studio, so I know there would've been deadlines that I don't know when they were. Total and complete agreement about Maisie & Quinn! I think that not only did AW waste Ed Fry but then ATWT underused him too.

Spoiler Valentin was the first ever contact to Pikeman & he was just in "Tomorrow On". Also Brennan was. He's Pikeman but incarcerated. But, looks like Pikeman is about to back in the thick of things!

And FinalMolly was great both yesterday & today. These two days have probably been the most challenging for her since she was cast last Sept.

I love & adore Donna Swajeski! Both at AW & later at GL. The thing about her writing AW during the strike & yes technically that made her a scab but she crossed over from the network, where she was a producer, and many many times producers write shows during strikes. A friend of mine wrote for AW & also for ATWT. But then he left NY, went back to school, got his PhD & taught soaps & drama at the college level. So, he dropped his WGA membership of course. Then when the next strike came Goutman would FedEx him the outline & he'd FedEx back the next day a week of scripts to Goutman. He picked up some extra change. Goutman had someone very good writing his show, who knew the show. But technically he was a scab. Anyone who "crosses the picket line to work" is technically a scab. Anyway, so nice to make the acquaintance of another Swajeski fan!!! I'm still mad at NBC for making her so mad that she quit.

I am absolutely loving how much freshness & energy Burton is bringing every day, every scene. Loved his reactions to news, baby Amelia, Bobbie's death, Britt's death, note from Monica & he's been gone such a long time & has so much on his mind but he is unfailingly thoughtful like congratulating Brook Lynn yesterday. Speaking of Brook Lynn's visit to the prisoner, AS taped with SB on his first day back, so there is an example of how wildly they tape out of order. That no doubt means that the first things they taped were all of the scenes in the Interrogation Room. What a way to jump into the deep end of the pool just the second he returned. Noticed immediately that it was the old style not the new style. The breakdown yesterday was written by Shannon Peace. I realized yesterday that this was her first job. I had heard that when she was fired she was extremely upset & now that makes so much sense because it means it was her first time to get fired. How awful for her. Most writers in daytime have been through this all a time or two at the very least. Oh, sorry, Danny is a new favorite for me. I can see he is going to give Sam fits! About the whole cadre of relatively new tweens & teens, so everyone is calling for acting coaches & lessons & sure I see that, they are young, green, have much to learn but also they seem very talented & have been good in interviews & seem like really hard workers & let's face, Jake looks like Jason & Danny is so very pretty. It is hilarious that Aiden is worrying about whether his sourdough starter is going to work so he will have bread to feed people, such a nurturer. And also Aiden & Rocco look too much alike.

Just another day in the hamlet of Port Charles, New York ... where there is an extremely high incidence found of amnesiacs & villains who have to be hospitalized with brain tumors & all manner of unusual psyche-affecting diseases ... I can't think of anyone besides Sonny who wants to kill him! Do you have some insight to add?!!

I'm glad you said this. I was thinking that Rachel was more an itch that Steve would allow himself to scratch on occasion. Of course, if he had not done so & kept it in his pants he'd have saved himself a world of trouble but there'd have been no soap!
