Promotion for this show is absolutely stinking up the place! Nothing from Frank, nothing from Varni which is actually okay with me, nothing from Patrick & nothing from Korte, that adds up to quite a bit of silence, if you ask me. It is my biggest beef with them. Meanwhile very quiet back channel talk says these are the very players who are fighting each other on everything from the longer scenes we love to ... who really knows what, but elements of the production style/writing. (Frank & Varni try to sell the idea that the longer scenes are boring. THEY'RE NOT!)

Said it is like two people who do not agree with each other are writing the show.

Thank you for replying. As far as Tammy goes, he had no intent to deceive. It was only Reva that caused him to initially conceal his true identity. And if things had gone another way he would've continued in the alias. She was a product of P&G's liking to promote from within. It was either MADD or JFP who plucked her out of reception & started her on the path of becoming a writer. She credits both of them with her success. She has made one quote I really like. "Script writing is the secret weapon of daytime. They paint the picture. A good script writer is everything." - Jill Lorie Hurst, 3-15-23, Locher Room chat room. She speaks highly of her co-HWs & also of Nancy Williams Watt. She has spoken of possibly writing a book about her time writing for GL. I totally agree here about both Ellen Weston & also James Lipton. Lipton was never successful writing anything. At GL, Weston's only HW experience, everything she wrote was a disaster. Someone who interviewed her said she had no clue how to talk about writing.

I just find it very disturbing that EJ knows but is going to keep it from Nicole. The rationale for it seems to be just being messy & soapy. And I think he does Nicole a disservice assuming she would leave him & be with Eric. I figure there's a 50/50 chance that she would stay with EJ & just co-parent with Eric. And, in fact she might be furious with Eric. He's been really stupid to go along as he has. By rights he should be suspicious about this baby. In general I find Stephanie to be stupid. I honestly do not understand why she is seeing him romantically at all. Is it weird to anyone else that we don't have writers credits yet? Has anyone heard any more names of scab writers? Not Shari Anderson. Well, I've heard that Sally Sussman came out of retirement to lead the team. If she & Shari were both writing that would've been a real powerhouse team. I'm looking for confirmation. Have we seen the last of Harris Michaels?

And, also, just trivia, but Roger Newcomb curated the Soaps DVDs that P&G had done, ATWT & GL & they planned to do AW next but then they canceled the whole deal & did no more. I happened to find out from him that they had problems with Music Rights even then.

Well, as I have said ad nauseum, in 1996 CBS gave GL the outline for the new production model but what they dictated for ATWT was in a way worse. It was a new narrative style. In her book Lynn Liccardo calls it pod storytelling, which is a good enough term for it for me. The opposite of the tapestry where different stories are threads being woven together painting one big unified picture also pod stories make something like an umbrella storyline a literal impossibility. Even the best writers would keep banging into this wall making them tell stories this different way.

I was reminded by this today that Cass had a real thing about being kidnapped at his weddings!!!

Ah! I see. Just so. And, I love that win even more because of how it came about. For some unknown reason Gloria Monty refused to put Jane up. Well, this didn't sit well with one of the secretaries, so she called Jane & told her to come to the office where she explained to her how to go about nominating herself. (This comes from a Michael Logan interview of Geary, Shriner & Eliot in Apr. 2013.) It is even odder because many many years after this win Elliot would not allow herself to be submitted.
