I never thought I'd live to see the day they'd bring her on tbh, but happy it's finally happening. Thrilled mostly for Lynn Herring who has deserved to have some family on the canvas for years now.
Where did people get the idea she was Michael's age? Even without soras, she was always closer to Maxie and Lucas' age than Michael. She was born before Lulu and years before Brook Lynn, both of whom are 40 something in the GH timeline lol.

Thanks for the heads up! This news passed me by but exciting! Love this premise and I'm just as shocked she agreed to this as I was Picard, but happy she did.

I'm not surprised tbh since she never seemed to fit well. I liked Lexi but I'd rather they just let Kristina rest for a while.
With Maxie and now Kristina gone, the under 50 year old female group on GH just stays being dire. Like Lulu, Molly, Willow, Joss, and Brooklynn is low key pitiful lol, and I like a couple of those characters! That whole female age range needs a desperate reset.

Amy Madigan is the best win in that category since Youn Yuh-jung, and before the two of them, that category had been dire for the past decade or two. The people mad about it are mostly Ariana Grande stans who learned about awards season last year lol, and I say that as someone who enjoyed Ariana in Wicked more than most. She's been hustling in movies since the 70s, never given up even when her career became just guest starring on Law & Order and Criminal Minds, and it's nice to see it pay off for her in this way. And to whoever mention Alamo Bay- I've gone down a deep Madigan rabbit hole recently, and while that movie is a little dated, her and Harris are electric together.
Thrilled for Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley.

I kind of came to enjoy him the last few times he was back. He's certainly better than a lot of the options out there. I just really fail to see what the purpose of this is, unless it involves Holly and their plans for Robert's goodbye. I'm guessing it's some sort of caper.
I'm curious to see how he does with Alexa's Lulu as siblings. I think they could work well together.

We've gone over this many times here over the years, but RC getting mad and changing the Bill story to Fluke was such a mess. They should have let it play out as Bill, especially since they were setting it up. There was no reason to start mentioning the Eckerts again if they weren't committed to going there. I don't have much of a desire to see Jenny again, but I echo the idea that Sly could work and they should try it sometime. Offscreen GH is filled though with characters that should have been brought back ages ago.
I've always thought Julia could work even now without Brenda. Probably not for a long term thing, but I think she'd be fun in a short arc. She's friends with Lucy, Felicia, Ned, and Mac. She knows Tracy. There's always the Sonny and Jason connection. I'm sure she met Carly during one of her returns. I don't know if she overlapped with Anna or not, but it was probably close enough they could just fudge it and no one care. I think they could do something with her still.

I'd be so down for an arc with a Tony lookalike cousin or something, lol. At the very least it would give people like Lucy and Felicia more to do than worry about Sidwell and Nathan.
I loved Sean and Tiffany as a kid and was mad at the time because people like Katherine and Lily were still there hogging up space. But yeah, in the long run, it was probably for the best they got a happy ending cause they definitely wouldn't have made it through the rest of the decade. Didn't they make an appearance during the later years of JFP? Something with when Robert or Robin were sick. It might have been on Night Shift but all thats all relative. I do think if it had been possible, FV and RC would have used them a bit in those years around the 50th.

Awful news. I've certainly said my fair share about Luke and the Eckerts on here over the years, but when he was on and committed, there was never anybody better. He was a huge part of growing up watching GH in the 90s and 2000s.
His relationships with Laura, Bobbie, Robert, and Lucky will get most of the attention, but I want to mention how good he was with a lot of the rest of the cast in that era. His relationships with Tony, Lucy, Felicia, Tiffany, Sonny, Carly, Nikolas, Alexis, Tracy- all so different, unique, and you really felt the connections.
Monica, Luke, Robert, Rick, and Lesley in one year is so much loss. Add in Bobbie, Alan, Nikolas, Sean, and Epiphany in the past couple of years and it's almost unfathomable.

There have been a lot of really beautiful tributes to Diane Keaton over the past week- the Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, and Goldie Hawn remembrances were especially poignant- but these two really stood out to me:
Her and Pacino clearly had a long complicated past as an on and off couple until sometime in the 90s (a lot of photos/letters/videos from when they were a couple have gone viral this week) but there was obviously still a lot of affection and love there

Samantha Eggar was way, way overqualified for that ludicrous mess on AMC, but she was just wonderful on TNG and in so many films. I'm a big fan of The Collector and The Brood, along with The Seven Per Cent Solution with her, Robert Duvall, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Arkin, and Laurence Olivier. Very 70s and of the era where they just threw a bunch of stars together but still very enjoyable.

I do have some sympathy for Geary. By the time Genie was defacto fired in 2002, he had been on the show a couple of times in limbo while she was gone. He had lots of stuff to do, but it wasn’t really actual stories that hinged on him and had emotional depth until the 1998 stuff with trying to kill Helena with Alexis and Lucky finding out about the rape. The Cassadine story was in a holding pattern while Genie was on maternity leave for over a year. And at first in 2002 after she left he was stuck in stories about what amounted to a blond wig on a mop. Fighting with Scott over Laura’s guardianship, then Heather Webber. The 2006 mini story was really beautifully written for what it was, but both of them were not happy about it. Genie has said she actually felt manipulated about them getting married again, that they both thought it was kind of hokey to go that route and was not clearly explained to them before it was already happening or they would have pushed back.
He was stuck there in limbo without her on and off a lot. The show was just able to cover for that better in the beginning than they were as time went on, and I do imagine that got irritating.
I feel like 2006/2007 is just when they both got tired of Luke and Laura and sort of became the end of the road for that. She was just able to cover for it better, obviously mostly because she was off the show. He just decided to lean full into the Tracy romance (which was fine, but I hate that it's now the de facto love story for her) and turned Luke into a drunk sleaze.
I do wish the show had had any sort of interest in getting Laura a good solid love interest in the years since then. I don't know that I would have stuck her back with Scott, but they could have done something. Now she's stuck with Kevin and that was a cute stopgap a decade ago but has really run its course at this point. I know they've enjoyed working together but she really deserves better than a c-level relationship with someone the show has little interest in.

Other than a few Nathan and Maxie fans on twitter, I don't see anyone happy or excited about the Obrecht clan being back and in full force. Nathan nor Britt are worth all this and neither of them can carry a story, much less a front burner one. I do find the show pretty enjoyable these days and feel it's in good shape, but the Obrecht family just is not it.
I always enjoyed Sam but in hindsight, cutting her loose was the right move. However it's now been over a year and Dante and Lulu still aren't close to being back together. I dread the thought of them making her keep Nathan afloat until whenever Maxie comes back.
I'm not going to go back and quote a bunch of people, but I don't remember Tony having disdain for Luke and Laura until around the mid-2000s when the Skye and Tracy stuff started up. Before that he always seemed okay with it. I know the hookers and affairs had a started a little before that, but it wasn't until around the Laura coma return that Luke basically became Bill. I do that the show has been interested in Lucky and Lulu in the past, even if they're not that interested now.
-
JMB's Lulu was also able to do romance stories in couples people liked and she had a real connection with Tracy, Luke, and Laura. I also thought she was able to sell being the heavy in stuff like the Georgie and Dillon mess and when she thought she was going crazy. Eden has done basically none of that. Best I can say is that she can be amusing and does work well with Laura Wright.

It's become the Frank Family Welfare Program. But I'd say that much more about characters like Sasha, pre-Drew Willow, Michael Easton, Roger Howarth, Chase, Curtis, Jordan, Molly, T.J., etc. It took everything short of an act of God to finally get Sasha, Howarth and Finn out. I do think Nina has run her course whereas I think Ava could still go on in the proper gear, but it is insane that you have so many of these other pointless characters who have been here either a decade or over (or close to a decade) and their history amounts to very little. It's Uncle Frank's house.
Totally. Again, letting people like Mac, Ned, Lois, or whoever linger and hang around is one thing. But heaps of these others need to be gone. I still can't believe how long some of these people have been standing around doing nothing. I swear that it felt like back in the day they got the Jenny Eckerts of the world out of there in a few years and they didn't have these flops just hogging up space after almost a decade. It's been over ten years with various versions of Jordan!
About Joss, I know they love her over there and probably know she's a lifer. But she's just not a leading character or actress and their insistence on pushing her as one is wrecking their younger scene. I don't know what the answer is since she's not going anywhere, but her as a WSB agent is not it. It's the same problem they ran into with Maxie and ER version of Lulu where they pushed them for years and years despite both of them running their course years ago. But their younger female scene has been in shambles for almost two decades now. Outside of the Trina and Emma situations, they finally got a good Lulu and they don't do anything with her.

3 hours ago, Vee said:It's crazy how Gio/Emma are not being treated like an A-story youth couple. I won't go into my typical schtick about how much they'd play these two 20 years ago, let alone 30. Neither actor would get any sleep, you'd have to bring the Monty coke tables back.
This is crazy to me because of all the shows, you could always count on GH to recognise when something was hitting with the audience and then run with it. You can say whatever about how it helped turn GH into the Sonny show, but once they saw they had something with Sonny and Brenda, they had them on constantly. Same with Robin and Stone, or even Georgie and Dillon.
About Ava and Nina, I don't mind either of them at this point, but I wouldn't really miss them if they were gone. I do feel like GH also used to be better about cutting the dead weight and not letting people linger around for years doing nothing. Letting people like Mac and Ned hang around is one thing, but most of these people who showed up in the past decade could leave and it have such minimal impact on the show.
-
GH has been borderline toxic in some ways and cliquey backstage for decades lol. A lot of the people that were divas and in cliques back then are still there! I think most of them have settled down though (Steve included) and are just happy to still be on the show and used, especially after the JFP era.
i do think there’s a lot of drama involving a few of the actors no longer there and two sides to these stories.

13 minutes ago, Vee said:I don't remember the details. I thought she ran around with him trying to help for a bit. I know that's how Luke and Holly briefly ended up prowling around the abandoned Alden mansion in Corinth from Loving.
Someone should've come at Holly's throat over the virus, be it Anna, Bobbie or whoever. They let her off too lightly for that, likely because the show realized immediately they'd gone too far with Holly and tried to quickly move her into lighter jungle shenanigans the next time we saw her in 2006(?).
They definitely realised they went too far and backed off it pretty quickly. But someone really should have been allowed to call her out on that. It's crazy it happened and just nobody said anything and all the vets just treated her like they always did.
13 minutes ago, titan1978 said:Is that the story where they ended up in Corinth in the Alden mansion?
Yes that's the one. I think Laura was there too! I forgot it ended up there. Since you mentioned Sean before, I think that was the same story where Luke and Holly tracked down his daughter for some reason. Or maybe that was some other nonsense. I just remember them going to find her for some reason that's lost on me now.

I never forgot that, or forgave her for it lol. I wanted someone to bring up the monkey virus just once!
Yes! She helped let Tony die and you mean to tell me Bobbie, Felicia, or Lucy never once brought that up to her over the years! Or Anna even!
Plus, wasn't she involved with whatever that mess was where Luke had been poisoned by polonium somehow? They had to trek around (with Laura at some point I think) looking for Jerry Jacks and a cure. It's been so absurd for years lol.

I am pretty sure he's older and it's the latter. I have been trying for years to track down the scenes where Luke tells Ethan or whoever the whole story of that ONS. I don't know exactly when they were so I can't even find a transcript on tvmegasite or wherever. I agree it's real murky timeline-wise, but it's nowhere near the idiocy they tried to pull with these recent insta-kids lol.
Sasha even regaled us with a story about how Holly ran off in her childhood to go run a con with David Vickers from OLTL, because of course she did.
I forgot about that. That was around the time GH let Tony Geary add in whatever he wanted so we got tales of Luke with prostitutes and that he'd been running out of Laura and Lucky for years to meet women. Good times.
Of course about David Vickers lol. Holly's had some of my favourite ridiculous stories, both onscreen and off, over the years. There was her and her lookalike sister or cousin that was a South American freedom fighter in a fake country. Her years long pregnancies. Her stint as a bioterrorist during the monkey virus (RIP Tony). Then she was somehow involved in one of the latter day Frank Smith plots. Not to mention how many times she's been kidnapped. She's really been through it lol.

The Sasha timeline is so stupid that I just have to laugh. I can ignore it though for the most part because while Sasha isn't anything to get excited over, I feel like that was something they did for ES and TR knowing that was probably their last big story. But honestly, none of Holly's offscreen time has ever made much sense to me. I still don't know when and how Ethan came about and when she met up with Luke! Is Sasha older than him? Was he born during the time they thought she was dead and Luke randomly knew she was alive? It's confounding.
The Mac and Dominique secret love child still takes the cake for me of craziest retcon. I actually really like Cody and I don't hate the idea of a Mac child but....we never saw Dominique offscreen from the time they met until she died lol. She moved on from Mac pretty fast as well and spent the last few years running around with Scott, Lucy, and Julia and then up and died. Why they didn't just make him Mac's child with some offscreen woman, I'll never know. It's like they just looked for women Mac was with and picked a name they thought most fans would recognise but not think too much about timeline wise. Plus I'm still confused on why she hid a baby from not only Mac, but also Scott and Lucy.
GH: Former "Y&R" actress recast in legacy role
in DTS: Previews & Spoilers
I hear you and agree I would have probably gone slightly younger as well. But everyone on GH older than Josslyn seems to be in some vaguely 30-40 age range already anyway that I doubt her actual age even ends up mattering. Like I couldn't tell you how old any of these people are supposed to be on the show. They just all vaguely seem the same age.
