  1. Is that actor Michael Beck (The Warriors) playing the worker at Frank's campaign office?
  2. Actress Elizabeth Eis, who played three roles on Dark Shadows, died earlier this year.
  3. I always liked actress Grace Matthews, who had played Claudia Dillman on The Guiding Light. Would you see if there is any information that you can post about her?
  4. Prior to being cast on Trapper John, M. D., actress Mary McCarthy (who, I understand, had been a child actress) played a girlfriend of Ray Gardner's on All My Children. This woman was physically abused by Ray, but, eventually, she did something that would put an end to Ray's current reighn of terror in Pine Valley. Does anyone know this character's name? The first name was Birtha, but I have no idea about the last name.
  5. I wish that Camilla (Mary Layne) and Spencer (Richard Borg) had been shown at the party.
  6. Originally considered for the role of Minnie was the late actress/singer Lillian Hayman (One Life to Live, All My Children).
  7. I had never known that Dack Rambo (later on All My Children and Another World) had been billed as Norman Rambo.
  8. O'Brien probably joined the show following the cancellation of Our Private World, the primetime serial.
  9. Ruby Holbrook, the then-wife of Hal Holbrook, later played Wilma Marlowe #2 on All My Children. Mr. Holbrook later married Dixie Carter (The Edge of Night, The Doctors).
  10. Yes, Henry Slesar eventually reconciled Adam Drake and Nicole. However, a more interesting couple (Steve Gutherie and Deborah Saxon) were never reunited. Also, I believe (althought this could have been done by Lou Schofied and Margaret DePriest) that Slesar began the show when Adam was in a relationship with Roxanne Carey (played by actress Martha Gilphen). Someone told me that there was a hasty scene which ended that relationship, but I had missed it. I think that everyone on earth would have been happy had Laurie Karr and her husband Vic Hastings reconcilled. I think that Liz Hillyer and Steve Prentiss should have returned to one another (again, that couple could have been seperated by Schofield and DePriest). I think that most pople waited for Tony Cooper and Jill Farmer on Somerset reunion. Was Slesar responsible for breaking up Sam and Lahoma Lucas?
  11. Miss Gray certainly was pretty!
  12. Is it possible to print something about Doug Chapin (Tony Cooper #1)?
  13. I am still trying to learn the name of a character on Loving. He was an African-American high school student who was the son of Corinth's Lt. Art Hindman. He was in class with the character that Luke Perry played. He did not know how to read, but he had been socially promoted every year despite the fact that he was iliterate.
  14. I have confused Mary and Sandra too over the years.
  15. That article was written by Robert LaGuardia, who later wrote the book Soap World. I wonder how it came about that Ron Martin was cast on the show since he was a twenty-one-year-old non-acting singer at the time? These two never got married. Susan later replaced Kate Capshaw in the role of Jinx Avery Mallory on The Edge of Night (also written by Henry Slesar). I think that she came from California to act in the role after Ms. Capshaw was cast in the lead of A Little Sex.
  16. Miss Graham later played Jean Scott on The Guiding Light. (I think that the character's first name was Jean.) Then, she disappeared to me, but I saw her on an episode of All My Children in 1984.
  17. Breaking up couples is common, but that particular writer (Henry Slesar) had a habit of breaking up couples and NOT allowing them to eventually re-unite. I think that some viewers become disinterested in their favorite couples and tune the soap opera out. This may be good for the present storyline, but I don't think that it is good for the eventual outcome.
  18. I think that Robert Cenadella was one of the best writers on soap operas. Somerset was not written poorly during its early months! One thing that may have hurt it, though, was that so many of the characters from Another World:Bay City crossed over to Somerset for cameo guest appearences. I had never seen Another World, and the crossovers would sometimes get in the way. Had Dark Shadows remained as it initially was (not turning into a horror soap opera), I think that Cenedella would have been an EXCELLENT writer or headwriter. Mr. Slesar has a pattern of breaking up the couples that he inherits or sometimes creates, such as Laurie Ann and Vic on The Edge of Night, Liz and Steve on The Edge of Night, Adam and Roxanne on The Edge of Night, Tony and Jill on Somerset, David and Emily on Somerset, Steve and Deborah on The Edge of Night, Winter and Logan on The Edge of Night, etc. This sometimes hurts his shows because the audiences are not happy.
  19. I remember that promo. I know that it ran during the final episode of Dark Shadows. The actress was the late Kathleen Maguire, who was appearing on the show as the wife of James Noble. She had earlier been on A Flame in the Wind/A Time for Us, and she succeeded Doris Belack in the role of Anna Woleck Craig on One LIfe to Live later in the 1970s. She was one of my favorite soap opera actresses! She also appeared in one of the Flipper movies with Robin Matson.
  20. According to what I have read online, Richard X. Slattery was a New York City police officer until 1960, so he apparantly was one during the time that he appeared on From These Roots.
  21. Did From These Roots and Our Five Daughters end on the same day? I noticed several performers from those two shows who were either in the original cast of Another World or were in the cast as replacements early in the run of Another World: Jacqueline Courtney (from Our Five Daughters), Leon Janney, Audra Linley, and Vera Allen.
  22. My understanding about the departure of Picard and Provo: Procter and Gamble discovered that they were a same-sex couple, and the company disapproved. They were removed from writing this show (that they had created, along with Concerning Miss Marlowe) and never wrote again for Procter and Gamble. Roy Winsor hired them later to write Love of Life. I think that they also contributed some scripts to The Doctors before that show became serialized.
  23. It probably should be pointed out that Constance Ford, when starring on the soap opera Woman with a Past, played the mother of actress Felice Carmargo, and Ms. Carmargo and Ms. Wyndham are sisters. So, the two actress probably had thought already about one another.
  24. That does NOT resemble Carol Roux as all to me.
  25. Wasn't Beverly Todd on Dark Shadows?
