The Clear Horizon
The show was later written by Irving Vendig, who had created The Edge of Night. He was also that show's headwriter for many years. He was also a writer for Search for Tomorrow, Three Steps to Heaven, and Paradise Bay and the creator/headwriter of Hidden Faces. Also Charles Polacheck, the producer, had earlier been a producer of The Edge of Night.

No, I did not understand. I thought you arithmetic was wrong. She quit twice and was written off once - that means that she left three times altogether. I will probably enjoy it more than you will yours.

It she was not on the show, then she would have had to left.

I was thinking that Anne Revere played the mother. Thank you for the corrections! By the time that everything was explained to Tony, I had stopped watching and was enjoying A World Apart on ABC.

Where the Heart Is (1969-1973)
It was asked how old Margaret DePriest is. I am not certain of her age, but she was an actress on The Edge of Night in 1964 - nearly forty years ago. She did not seem to be a spring chicken then.

Marcy was the wife of Tony Vincente who was confined to a wheelchair. Oscar-winner Anne Revere played her mother. I am thinking that she spoke with an English accent, but I could be wrong on that. She was desperate to keep Tony.

June Carter also played Cookie for a time on The Edge of Night. The Cookie role was created by Fran Sharon, and she returned to it. Ms. Sharon was playing it thoughout most of the 1960s. I had seen this clip of June Carter previously. Although I know of no clips of Beverly Lunsford on The Secret Storm, but she appears on reruns of Leave It to Beaver as one of Wally's friends. Jada Rowland left the show THREE times: when Ms. Carter and Ms. Lunsford played the role, when she was playing Susan on As the World Turns, and when she left and Amy was played by Lynn Adams. That Amy (other than Jada Rowland) was lighter-haired is not out of character for the soap operas in the 1960s. The role of Patti Tate on Search for Tomorrow was played by every physical type of actress. (And, even MUCH later, Mike Roy on All My Children was played by two very different actors.)

Love of Life Discussion Thread
Can someone help me? I never watched Love of Life except for one summer. (heavily, I later watched it, but eventually dropped it). Anyway, Barbara was being played by Lee Lawson. She had a neighbor who was German and was an older man. He was infactuated with her. This was around 1964. I THINK that Dennis Cooney may have been playing Allen at the time. I do remember that, a few months later, the actor who played Allen was changed. We hated the new one. Either Dennis Cooney or John Fink was the new one, but I think that it was John Fink. Oh, I did not finish the question above. Who was the neighbor, and what actor played this neighbor.? Any explanation of the storyline will be appreciated!

I thought during that time that Viki was going to be revealed as the mother of one of the O'Neill daughters - probably Joy because the show, when Kristen Vigard left, hired Julie Ann Johnson to play Joy. Julie Ann Johnson had a strong resemblance to Erika Slezak to me. (This was before if was revealed that Viki actually did have an older daughter).

Brooke was raped by Eddie Dorrance. She went on a date with him, but he raped her afterward. I believe that is when she had the abortion. Eddie died in 1978, and this was at Christmastime. So, it must have been 1977. So, three of the major female characters of All My Children were rape victims: Brooke, Erica, and Ruth. Above, I may have been a year too early. Eddie may have died in 1979.

All My Children Tribute Thread
Claudette's husband was named Spencer Montgomery. It was never said if Spencer was related to Travis and Jackson. They all had presegious relatives. When Jackson was first introduced, Sallie Gracie was playing an aunt of the two brothers. Anyway, the show never stated if these three men were related or not. Claudette's father was actually Jason Maxwell, although Margo had been married to Harry Flax at the time of her birth. Margo had been trying to get two sets of child support over the years. To say that Erica and Margo were friends is an exageration. Margo resented Erica. Margo allowed Erica to live in her apartment, but it was only because Margo was feeling a financial pinch and needed the extra money. Margo had struggled to send Claudette to a private school and was now needing to have money for Claudette's lavish wedding. Margo also was jealous of Erica because she was a new, young model and the career of Margo was coming to an end because of her age. Also, Erica was having an affair with Jason, Margo's former lover and Claudette's father. Margo moved to Pine Valley because her career as a model was over. She took a job at the Boutique. Later, Claudette visited Margo and announced that her marriage to Spencer was over. Paulette Breen was the original Claudette, and probably the one that most people remember. She moved to Pine Valley and became involved with the drug smuggling because she was a drug user and could not afford it so she allowed herself to be used in the sales. It was not Eddie Dorrance who was initially involved. Rather it was Hal Shea, the first husband of Kitty. Hal was using the name Hal Short. He was having drug shipments sent to The Boutique in shipments of soap. Both Kitty and Margo worked for Ann, who had bought The Boutique from Sidney when she left Pine Valley. Claudette eventually took a drug overdose, and she was sent away to prison. She later returned to Pine Valley being played by Susan Platt-Winston. She possibly would have died had Dr. Frank Grant not been there when she collasped. Following Kitty's death, Myrtil left Pine Valley. Both Erica and Claudette wanted Lincoln for themselves. Claudette, I think, actually fell in love with Lincoln. It was Myrtil who initially found the Kitty look-alike, Kelly Cole. Kelly was a musician (both a singer and songwriter) who was managed by Eddie Dorance. Eddie controlled Kelly by giving her drugs, and she was dependant on him. Myrtil brought Kelly to Pine Valley. Eddie followed. She became a singer at The Chateau, and he became the manager after Nick Davis (former husband of Kelly) left Pine Valley. Ellen Shepherd also worked at The Chateau at the time, along with its Ma"tre d Freddie. Kelly even tried getting drugs from Dr. Joe Martin by pretending to be sick with narcolespy. Claudette also had a one-night stand with Phil Brent (Erica's second husband). Susan Platt-Winston was pregant at the time, so I am pretty sure that the show toyed with the idea of a child whose parents were Claudette and Phil. Rather than that, they decided to make Claudette the killer of Eddie. I understand that Susan Platt-Winston only had about a 48-hour notice that she was being written off the show. She had a death scene in which she confessed to the killing. Her acting in this scene was horrible, and I think that it was intentional because she was angry about being written off. Kitty had initially come to Pine Valley looking for her mother. She even asked Kate Martin if she had any knowledge about her birth, but Kate knew little. Kitty died, and Kelly never found out anything about their mother.

Shelley Burch's characters (Delilah) simply disappeared. She had lost her buisness when her back-stabbing partner, Gabrielle, stole her fashion designing business out from under her nose. Delila had tried to keep the business and be a mother to Sami too, but Gabrielle took advantage of her absence and tried to pass the designs off as her own. So, the business collasped because Gabielle had been trusted. I think Delilah got into a cab, and the cab sped away. Actually, Delila was kidnapped with Lord Bove and Elizabeth Sanders were behind it. Rafe looked and looked and mourned the disappearence of Delilah.

You mentioned that Viki, Dorian, Tina, Blair, Renee, and Alex all wore furs. The character that I especially remember wearing furs was Delila Garretson. Later, after she had left the show for the second time, I read an interview with Shelley Burch in which she said that she had an eating disorder which caused her to leave the show the first time. The large furs were used to conceal her lack of size.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
In the clip above, there is a commercial for Brim coffee. Featured in the commercial as the police sargeant is Mari Gorman, who played Taffy Sims on The Edge of Night. Fran Carlon (As the World Turns) is seen later in the commerical.

I have a question about the above pictures. In one photograph of the wedding of Erica and Tom, there is a little boy. It does not appear to be Phillip Lima (little Phil). Who is it? I will add that my favorite Benny was Larry Fleishman and that my favorite Charlie/Little Phil was Robert Duncan McNeil.
