Love Is a Many Splendored Thing
I can't remember the name of the character, but he was a man who kidnapped Laura. I THINK this was just before Ms. Mills left the show, although I could be wrong.

Love Is a Many Splendored Thing
Donna was the original Laura Donnelly, one of the two Donnelly sisters (with Leslie Charleston playing the other one). They had a brother (originally played by Robert Burr), father (the late Judson Laire), and nephew (the late Shawn Campbell).

Well, did Gordon Russell work on both A Falme in the Wind/A Time for US and The Nurses? Also, continueing with Gordon Russell, in some ways, he carried his style from Dark Shadows over to One Life to Live (two very different stories). Karen Woleck and many of the Dark Shadows characters (Barnabas, Chris, and the more complex Quinton) were all bad characters who could not help themselves and wanted to be normal.

Love Is a Many Splendored Thing
I think that Donna Mills and the late Shawn Campbell looked enough alike to be related in real life.

HOW TO SURVIVE A MARRIAGE
Ms. Brill was on All My Children as well as The Edge of Night. On The Edge of Night, she played a widow who blamed Deborah Saxon for the death of her husband. She was trying to get revenge on Deborah. This was a very shortterm role. It was during a period that ABC was trying to get The Edge of Night characters be challenged with more trouble each day. I think that tit was during the time that The Edge of Night was preparing to expand .

Some of this may be repititous, but I wanted to say: Gordon Russell wrote A Flame in the Wind. I was not aware that Ralph Eiilis (who was a former actor) had worked on that show, so I appeciate the news. I also had not known that either men had worked on The Doctors. This may have been when the show was an anthology show with self-contained episodes or when the show had five-episode arcs in serilized form. Gordon Russell became the headwriter of Dark Shadows when A Flame in the Wind was cancelled. This was before Sam Hall (who had previously written The Brighter Day) was writing for the show. However, Grayson Hall, his wife, was probably already in the cast. Three of the writers who were working on the show at time were Ron Sproad (a former writer of Never Too Young and The Nurses and later wrote the serials Strange Interludes and Capitol0 and Joe Caldwell. Sam Hall was later added as a writer and became the co-headwriter with Mr. Russell of Dark Shadows. Ralph Ellis also wrote one (or possibly a handful) of episodes for Dark Shadows. After the cancellation of Dark Shadows, Mr. Russell and Mr. Hall were offered co-headwriting jobs at One Life to Live. This is the point, I believe, that Agnes Nixon mostly turned the reins of the who over to others (and I don't think that she would have done that unless she really believed that these writers were good and capable). I was watching YouTube on Friday night, and I found this episode from 1980s that listed the headwriters (of One Life to Live) as Sam Hall and Peggy O'Shea with the writers being Gordon Russell, Don Wallace (the originall executive producer of One Life to Live) and Lanie Bertram. Mr. Russell died in the summertime, and this episode aired in the summer, so I think that this was when he was leaving One Life to Live to work on the serial General Hospital. I was not too impressed by Mr. Hall and Ms. O'Shea (a former writer of Search for Tomorrow). I cannot remember who took their place. I do want to ask about John William Corrington and Joyce Hooper Corrington. Why were people so unhappy with their writing (along with the network)? The main thing I remember about their writing was the death of Samantha Garretson. They wrote that, or stopped writing the show just before her death. Sam Hall was brought back at that time, and was paired with Peggy Sloan. I think that the was a wonderful writer. However, she stated that the network interfered with the writing too much, she quit, and vowed to never write a serial again (all of which she did). The pairing of Sam Hall and Henvy Slezar should have been wonderful, but I don't think that there was much colaboration between them.

First of all, in Dottie's original run, she did not even know Jessie or Angie because they had not been introduced. Dottie originally was a little girl. Her father, Dr. David Thornton, was in love with Ruth Martin. David's wife (Edna) came to town with Dottie. David did not even know that he had a daughter. Dottie was sweet, but she could be bratty at times. Someone put poison in someone else's tea. However, Dottie switched the cups of tea when no one was looking, and David was poisoned. I don't remember what happened to Dottie after that. Edna stayed in town. When Palmer was giving an elaborate ball, she became depressed because she had not been invited. She met a man from Texas named Hank Ferguson. They eventually married and moved to New Orleans. Several years later, Dottie returned to Pine Valley. She had basically run away. She was wild, although I think that the writers may have eventually stated that she exagurated about her life in New Orleans. She bragged about going to the Quarter to hear the jazz bands. She became friends with Jessie. Edna later came back to Pine Valley also. Hank had died, and she inherited his fortune. One storyline that was begun but was later dropped was that Dottie was developing an eating disorder. Edna insisted that she follow a strict diet because she was getting overweight (although the actress playing Dottie was not big at all). Edna, feeling sorry for Dottie, began to pay Tad to date Dottie. Dottie feel in love with Tad, who did not love her. He felt sorry for her, so he eventually married her. Jessie and Dottie eventually ran to New York together. There was no romance between them, although I think that Angie may have been uncomfortable. The second actress to play Liza was Alice Haining. Liza was working at the television station, as was Dr. Cliff Warner. Cliff had a medical program, and Liza worked on it (maybe as a producer). She fell in love with Cliff. She later realized that he would only love Nina (who, I think, was married to Matt Connelly at the time). She received an offer to move to Baltimore to produce a program, and she left. Alice is a wonderful actress. I attended high school with her, and her older sister was in my class. The whole family is creative and talented, and they were good friends with the late Christopher Wines (the original Jeff Martin on All My Children). I have seen her in many plays at her college (after I had graduated) and in professional theatre. I feel that the soap opera producers always miscast her. She was always cast in a unsympathetic role (although Liza had softened toward the end of Marcy Walker's run and continued to be pretty nice when Alice played her.) I don't know anything about her role on Search for Tomorrow except that she played a record producer. She then joined Loving as a sick girl who was trying to hold on to her husband (I can't really remember, but it may have been Curtis Alden.). She then was on One Life to Live as Alice Johnson. Alice was one of the more devout members of Mitch Lawrence's cult, and she was a sicko. She tried to burn Cassie Callison Coronol at the stake. She also had Allison Perkins locked in her room. (Can you believe that Allison was one of the nicer members of the cult at that time, and she tried to talk the crown out of hurting Cassie?) She was then cast as Liza #2 on All My Children. She later joined As the World Turns in another unsympathic role. Alice in real life is the perfect ingenue. Yet (maybe because she was attracted to these roles), she was cast in the soap operas in unsympathetic roles. She would have been the perfect Hillary Wilson. (I hated the actress who played Hillary!)

I thought that Bree Williamson was an excellent recast. Andie Vega is one of my favorite characters on the show, although I only liked her when Wendy Pratt played the role. I hated the character when the first actress played her. However, I have forgotten why Andie was on trial. Could someone remind me?

Not only did Gillian Spencer return to acting at times after becoming a writer, but Lois Kibbee (The Edge of Night, Somerset, One Life to Live) did also. And Ian Martin also remained a popular actor after having written the serial Strange Paradise and Somerset. I believe that he wrote Somerset at the same time that he was playing Lois Kibbee's butler on the show. Also, Robert Cenadella (Somerset, Another World, The Doctors, The Guiding Light, The Secret Storm) was a writer, then he was an actor.

She looks beautiful! Only her hair is a lighter shade. I don't know how she keeps from aging - especially considering the amount of worry that she may have had due to her mistreatment. She mentioned Spike Lee. She worked with Mr. Lee on the film School Daze. She also mentioned not caring for one of her numerous leading men. I am sure that it was the actor who played Dr. Jack Scott (Arthur someone). I wonder if she spoke at the funeral of Lillian Hayman?

"Secret Storm" memories.
I have recently learned from someone else that Peter Hobbs was ill once. The role of Peter Ames was temporarily fill by the late actor Shepherd Strudwick (who was later on Another World, One Life to Live, and Love of Life).

I had books (novelized) about The Guiding Light, All My Children, and One Life to Live. They were paperbacks, published in the 1970s. The All My Children book concentrated on Phil Brent and Tara Martin. The One Life to Live book concentrated on Dr. Larry Woleck, Meridith Lord, and Karen Martin Wolek. The Guiding Light book concentrated on Kathy Roberts. All these storylines were originally written by Agnes Nixon.

I think AMC's writers paired up Charlie with Cecily because they were ready to dump the both of them and didn't know what else to do with them." That is what happened to Devin and Chuck around 1984. They were going to be paired and written out, but the producers decided to keep Chuck and to reunite him with Donna.

The theme was the one used in the late 1970s and 1980s. I added that because some people know the date of when the change took place. I have not seen any clips of Eileen Letchworth as Margo. I may have seen photographs. I failed to mention that Claudette was in love with Lincoln when she returned from prison. She kept hoping that he would drop Kelly and accept her as a new wife.

Yes, I actually prefer One Life to Live. I did not begin watching the show, though, until around 1976. This was around the time of the death of Victor Lord and the introduction of the Vernon family. The market in which I live did not have an ABC affliate until 1970, after One Life to Live premiered. I did not know anyone who watched One Life to LIve here. It was only when I was in college when I met two girls who loved the show. I still did not watch it, but I began a few years later.
