All My Children Tribute Thread
Yes, the character of Nigel Fargate died on the show. He was only written out, though. The actor who played him, Alexander Scourby, did not die in real life. He is now desceased, as is his wife, Lori March. Mr. Scourby appeared as Dr. Ian Northcoate #2 on The Secret Storm before he was on All My Children. Stephanie Braxton (Tara Brent Jefferson #2) was on The Secret Storm with him.

"Secret Storm" memories.
Paul Jenkins was an actor who auditioned for the role of Aristeed on Dark Shadows. He actually appeared on The Secret Storm and, later, as Professor Parks on primetime's The Waltons. He died earlier this week.

A World Apart
It didn't happen, which is why I posted the word "almost!" The All My Children producers were initially not pleased with the performances of Ruth Warrick as Phoebe. They were too dramatic, as she was playing Phoebe as a strictly dramatic role. The threat of dismissing Ms. Warrick is well discussed in her autobiography. She began playing Phoebe in a new way, looking for humor in the scripts and bringing it out; therefore, the need to replace her with Ms. Stoddard was eliminated.

A World Apart
Anna Minot was the wife of actor Joseph Warren, who played Larry Colby (father of Liza and first husband of Marion) of All My Children. John Devlin later played Jason Maxwell on All My Children. Erin Connor was the step-daughter of the late Haila Stoddard (The Secret Storm). Ms.Stoddard was ALMOST hired as a replacement for Ruth Warrick as Phoebe on All My Children.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
I don't know if these men are the same person or not, but' an Australian wine maker named Roger Hill has died. He was sixty-three years old. The actor who appeared in the movie The Warriors and later in the soap opera One Life to Live (and then, seemingly vanished) was also named Roger Hill AND was sixty-three years old. Is this the same person?

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I am very interested in producer Lucy Ferri Rittenberg. She was the executive producer of The Guiding Light from 1952 until around 1976. Does anyone here know anything about her that could be posted? Especially when she died (assuming that she has died). So many performers who later became more famous began on The Guiding Light during her time: Sandy Dennis, Dyan Cannon, Victoria Wyndham, Don Scardino, Christina Pickles, Nancy Addison, Billy Dee Williams, Olivia Cole, etc. I think that she was one of the greatest producers of the soap operas.

Love Is a Many Splendored Thing
I think that Love Is a Many Splendored Thing had daytime television's best villioness, Jane Manning as Jean Hurley Garrison.

Love Is a Many Splendored Thing
I liked the rape storyline. Mark was shown as a real human man who may or may not have kept some secret feeling for Iris. Laura was shown as a real human woman who was unsure of her decision to leave the protection of the church and to build a life with a man who had wanted a life with her sister. Iris was my favorite character, and I saw her as a victim and heroine. It was a very good triangle for a show which needed its viewers to stay with them and to identify with the past storylines.

Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
I think that Ms. Moltke was right for Victoria and that Ms. Barrett was perfect for Carolyn. I especially enjoyed Carolyn during the time that Elizabeth was in the hospital, having been put there due to a type of spell placed by Laura. Carolyn had always been somewhat passive in family buisiness, and Roger needed her approval or signature on some papers. Rather than continueing to be pasive, she took an interest in the situation. She refused to sign anything until she understood what she was signing, and she stood up to her Uncle Roger (who had always called her "Kitten"). Art Wallace or Frances Swann only allowed for an episode or possibly two, then, when Elizabeth returned to Collinwood, Carolyn acted the same way ths had, with a heightened curiosity about her father and a hatred for both Jason and Willie. The writers should have allowed the independent Carolyn to have remained.

Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
I understand that a new and not-so-innocent role was later written for Alexandra Moltke to play. (I think that it was Joanna Mills in 1840.) Dianna Millay also had agreed to return to Dark Shadows shortly before it was cancelled. She did appear in Night of Dark Shadows because the role on the show was not possible.

Of course, Mason Adams was later on Another World, and Skatts Cotsworth was on either Somerset or As the World Turns.

Radio Soap Opera Discussion
It was good to see Mandel Kramer. He was later on The Guiding Light and The Edge of Night (until retirement). I had not known that Amzie Strickland had appeared on a radio serial. I know that she was on the television serial Full Circle. Fran Carlon was on As the World Turns as Julia Burke (mother of Susan) and even later on the primetime serialized drama The Hamptons. It was also good to see William Johnstone in a pre-As the World Turns role (He played Judge James Lowell for many years.). He also played the title role on radio's The Shadow. Does anyone know if he was married?
