"Oh, I forgot to add John Karlen, who spent most of the 80s as Tyne Daly's husband on Cagney & Lacey and won an Emmy. Then there was Louis Edmonds, who spent many years as Langley on AMC." Also, Grayson Hall was on All My Children as a Tempo Magazine writer named Marge Gray (probably in 1971 or 1972) and on One Life to Live as Euphemia Ralston in 1982. Anthony George was on Search for Tomorrow and One Life to Live in prominent roles (Dr. Tony Vincente and Dr. Will Vernon #3). Nancy Barrett was on One Life to Live as Rachel Wilson, The Doctors as Kathy Ryker, Ryan's Hope as Dr. Faith Coleridge #2, on Somerset (cannot remember the character's name), and, again, on One Life to Live as Assistant District Attorney Debra van Druden. There was an often mentioned scene from One Life to Live in which the characters played by Mr. George, Ms. Barrett, and Ms. Hall were in the same scene (possibly on an elevator?) and mentioned that they seemed to know each other from somewhere. Clarice Blackburn was on As the World Turns and several other shows. She became a writer for As the World Turns and All My Children. Dianna Millay was on The Secret Storm, creating the role of Kitty Styles (the role later played by Dianne Ladd). Jerry Lacy was on The Secret Storm (role unknown to me), As the World Turns, and Love of Life. I think that he, too, may have become a writer. Joel Crothers played popular character on The Secret Storm, Somerset, and The Edge of Night. (He was even on the serial Santa Barbara.) Dana Elcar co-starred on McGiver. Donna Wandrey was Barbara Ryan #2 on As the World Turns. Roger Davis was the announcer on Alias Smith and Jones. After Pete Duel's death, he assumed the role on the show. Gene Lindsey was on The Doctors. Christopher Bernau was on The Guiding Light. Marie Wallace played India Delaney on Somerset. Bernard Hughes played a recurring role of a priest on All in the Family. He later had his own show Doc. He was also on The Cavanaughs, Mr. Merlin, and Blossom. Mitchell Ryan was in a primetime series called Chase. He was also on the primetime serial Executive Suite and on the series (with Susan Sullivan) Having Babies. He also had a series called Renegade. And, he was later on All My Children with Louis Edmonds. Michael Stroka was on The Edge of Night as Dr. Quentin Henderson. Susan Sullivan, other than being in Having Babies (mentioned above), was on Another World and several primetime shows.

ALL: Temporary Replacements
I had never known that Frances Sternhagen was a temporary recast as Eileen. I had thought that she was cast in the role. (Also, Frances Sternhagen returned to One Life to Live later as a judge, and I remember thinking that she had played Eileen in the past.) Both Mike Karr and Nancy Pollock Karr on The Edge of Night had replacements. Jeffrey Lynn played Mike. Susan Brown and Frances Helm both played Nancy at times.

I saw a clip on YouTube in which Elliot was talking to the nephew of his first wife. The nephew was, by then, a college professor. Who played this character?

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
I have been listening to a audio tape that had been posted on YouTube. The title is One Life to Live March 1, 2, 3 1978 CD 59. The poster was Jeff Cooper. These may have been recorded on an audio tape recorder. The voices sound squeaky, as though this is a little faster than normal. The female voices are easier for me to discern than the male voices. The female voices that I have heard have been Jill Voight as Becky #1, Claire Mallis as Dorian #2, Sally Gracie as Ina, Ellen Holly as Carla, Judith Light as Karen, Jane Badler as Melinda #2, Lee Lawson as Wanda #2, Kathy Glass as Jenny #1, Erika Slezak as Vicky #3, Jennifer Harmon as Cathy #5, Lori March as Adele, and Jacqueline Courtney as Pat. There are two male character who I do not remember at all. Both were connected to a character that I loved, Ina Hopkins. There was a man named Ethan Bottomly. He was evidently being brought in as a romantic interest for Ina. He and Ina kissed. Credit is given to Stuart Germain for portraying Ethan. There was also a young lawyer named Lionel West. I have since read that he was Ina's nephew. His scenes were with Becky. The scenes were about Becky consulting him because Richard wanted her to marry him, but she had already been married (prior to her introduction on the show) to Luke Jackson (Marshall Bordon as Luke #1). There was nothing romantic between Lionel and Becky. I am surprised, though, that he did not remain on the show because there was no other lawyer on the show, and, during Vicky's murder trail (in which she was accused of killing Marco), William Mooney as Paul Martin was brought over from All My Children to defend her. (I do not know who the actor was, and the poster evidently did not know either.) The males in the cast were Luke Reiley as Richard #1, Anthony George as Will, Jameson Parker as Brad #1, Nat Pollen as Jim #2, Michael Storm as Larry #3, Jeff Pomerantz as Peter #1, Lee Patterson as Joe, Michael Ingram as Vinnie #2, Byron Sanders as Talbot, Marshall Bordon as Luke, and Tom Fuccello as Paul. In the plot, Ethan and Ina kissed, Carla had tried to get Wanda to enroll in some college courses, Vinnie did not understand why Wanda would want to enroll unless the classes were domestic-type classes, Ed and Carla both wonder why Carla seems so restless, Dorian tells Peter that Melinda is unstable, Richard wants Becky Lee to marry him and to set a date, Becky is reluctant to do so, Jenny and Brad learn that they are not expecting a baby, Jenny thinks that Brad is relieved and she does not understand why, Larry and Karen are invited to dine at the home of Vicky and Joe, Karen explains to Vicky that she wants the evening to be special and declines the invitation, Karen (possibly in a flashback) recalls meeting Talbot, Vicky tells Joe that Karen is very nervous to make the evening special to Larry, Becky recalls being married to Luke, Pat and Paul are together, Paul wants Pat to put Brian's death behind her, Kathy tells Jim that she always falls in love with the wrong men (Joe, Tony, and Larry are mentioned), Larry (I'm not sure why) brings Talbot and Adelle home with him to meet Karen (but, of course, Talbot and Karen have met before), and Adelle tells Karen that she assumes that they (Larry and Karen) have an open marriage.

Flame in the Wind/A Time For Us
I think that it is interesting that Mr. Hardy mentioned Barbara Rodell and Gordon Gray. Barbara Rodell replaced the first actress (Audrey Johnston?) in the role of Jill Stevens on The Secret Storm. Gordon Gray created the role of Ken Stevens (and was later replaced by Joel Crothers in the role). Therefore, Ms. Rodell and Mr. Gray played a married couple later on The Secret Storm.

Ray Fulmer was on the final season of Hazel. Hazel, which had been on NBC, had moved to CBS. The show's star, Shirley Booth, used her own money to finance the CBS season. Ray Fulmer played the brother of Don DeFore. I guess that he and Whitney Blake (who was once the mother-in-law of David Birney of Love Is a Many Splendored Thing and The Best of Everything) were too expensive to use, so the two new characters were introduced. On the soap operas, Mr. Fulmer played two villians. I do not know why because he could have played some very nice characters. I understand that he invested his money very wisely and thus no longer has a need to work. I also understand that about Anthony Call (The Edge of Night, The Guiding Light, For Richer For Poorer, One Life to Live). Ironically, Mr. Fulmer and Mr. Call were in competition for the same lady (Dr. Sara McIntyre) on The Guiding Light. Perhaps they shared investment conversation.

I stand corrected about Harry Johnson. Harry Johnson was also a character on Dark Shadows, played by the late Craig Slocum. I wonder if, perhaps, the mention of a Somerset character could be a mistake. The Harry on Somerset used Presidential names. Ike was from Eisenhour, and Harding was from Dwight Harding. In his real name, Harry was from Truman, and Johnson was from Lyndon B. Johnson.
