  1. B&B was never as serious as Y&R. Y&R has drama while B&B had melodrama, but damn, when it had it, it was great. Stephanie vs Margo was an element we'd not seen in a Bell soap before. Margo wasn't quite a rival for Stephanie over Eric, but she took a shot at her every time she possibly could. Margo was a long suffering anti-heroine. Losing Darlene Conley was a bigger blow than I think anyone realized. Darlene's last year or two on the show weren't particularly memorable as she'd experienced some ill health and took time off, so there may have been a feeling that they'd transitioned out of the need for the Spectras and into the Marones (how wrong they were, Lesley Anne Down had nothing on Darlene). To me, Sally Spectra was what made B&B unique. No other character like her and she was a universe unto herself on the show. Losing Susan Flannery to retirement was always going to hurt the show, but I think it hurt it less than Darlene because there were other ways to source conflict on the show aside from Stephanie Forrester. While Stephanie could not be replaced, the 'space' Stephanie occupied could at least she filled by other characters. However, from an acting/talent perspective, losing Flannery really undermined B&B's credibility.
  2. Well the thing is Porsha is not that bright, so she's fearless.
  3. ATL I enjoyed this episode. My takeaway from the episode is that Marlo, bless her, is unhinged and unwell. Her quickness to anger, and her apparent inability to shake that anger off, becoming totally fixated on her rage, does not demonstrate a healthy outlook. Nene was the most likeable she's been all season and her conversation with Porsha was mature and flattering to Nene's maturation. I'm glad they acknowledged how awful that villa was - it was like Bravo was punking them.
  4. Such a treat to see Katherine and Jill in the Kay Alden era. Kay was still pathetic and Jill was still fierce. Jess whipping her mane around like a lioness and prancing about the Chancellor mansion in those peplum suits. The show really messed up with the poor recasts for Mackenzie that followed Ashley Bashioum - Mackenzie was the key to keeping the Katherine/Jill feud going via Billy. Once they turned the corner in 2003 there was no real chance of recovery. Such a shame.
  5. I'm Canadian - so Her Majesty the Queen is my Queen.
  6. Did anyone else dive into Season 2 like I did? What a show and what a glorious Queen.
  7. BH What was that? Kyle is acting like a dejected 15 year old whose jock boyfriend just dumped her for her nerdier friend. Whining and moaning and shrieking and crying? Big Kathy screwed her up something good. She's just so needy and vampire like. And she turns on LVP on a dime. LVP was probably the most 'emotional' we've seen her in this show aside from when she was talking about Max's adoption. She actually lost it a tiny bit with Teddy and showed her vulnerable side. She tried to make Kyle feel safe and secure and OK but Kyle was not having any of it because then she would have to give up the narrative that LVP is the villain. Dorit is, of course, an awful person. I am going to luxuriate in LVP's statement that she only really likes Dorit because of her great affection for PK. Those Brits stick together and I love it, even if PK is a rogue. I enjoyed drunk Rinna and Camille seeing Marc Bower. That was brilliant.
  8. Luann and Sonja both left early and are currently in the Hamptons. Luann had to leave early because of court. They would be INSANE to not have Lu as a main housewife. She is the #1 draw for me with this upcoming season.
  9. I had to look up her episode of The Middle and you're right, she was warm and charming in the episode. She should do more comedy, she is adept at it. Rinna has pulled back from crusading this season and has shown her life: her kids, her QVC business, her hustle to act, and it really improves her image. She's still there to stir things up, but she's keeping herself out of the fray to an extent.
  10. It's the finest medical drama ever made. Nothing has touched it, before or since. My favourite scene: one of the doctors, I think it was Susan Lewis, is looking at the board and it's clear. The ward is relaxed. Finally. They have a little small talk among the doctors and nurses and then there is a call about a major emergency coming in. Lewis looks at the board and says "Oh, sh*t." Cuts to the theme. Everyone in medicine has lived that scene.
  11. I think it is the first housewives trip in South America. That Dorinda gif remains *everything* and I’m going through withdrawals too.
  12. Yessssss. NYC has had so many organic events that are major for the core wives, they'd better not screw up this season. I cannot wait for it.
  13. I could accept Jill as a Friend of the Housewives like Camille is this season - but she is too fundamentally an attention whore drama queen at her core to be a Housewife who plays well with others. This last season of NYC was one of my favourites and I do not want that chemistry destroyed.
  14. +1 to you both about LVP and Kyle. LVP has seen the real Kyle all the way back in Season 1 when she exposed Kim's alcoholism in the back of that limousine. Once LVP made the comment about Mauricio getting the listing on her Beverly Park home I knew that her friendship with Kyle would never be the same. The drawbridges went wisely up for LVP when it comes to Kyle. MELBOURNE Another fun episode! Venus is a drama queen and her obsession with her looks is pretty damn obvious. Gamble putting her foot in her mouth is jaw dropping and amusing. Janet vs. Gina is epic because Gina cannot talk over Janet, who stared Gina down and didn't blink once. Janet is the prototypical Australian sheila - she is not going to be intimidated by Gina. This hasn't been a great season for Gina or Lydia, who have openly admitted to speculating about why Janet and her boyfriend temporarily broke up - not the actions of good friends. Jackie and Sally didn't have as much to do this episode but both add value to the franchise. This franchise is still so fresh and fun.
  15. Katie’s accident was straight out of Another World - Felicia fell through a skylight (and Linda Dani got a facelift)... Stassi is a lot of things but racist isn’t one of them. LVP was furious at Jax - and rightly so. I don’t think we’ve ever seen LVP like that.
  16. Marilyn is celebrating 25 years on HSN this year - that Pheremone perfume of hers is the stuff of TV shopping legend. And she keeps making new fragrances and is 78 or so years old. I’m sure watching this series would be torture for Marilyn but Judith’s performance was very sympathetic to her but didn’t compromise Marilyn’s strength. She is a very tough woman.
  17. Judith Light just did an episode of American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace in which she played Marilyn Miglin, the real life Home Shopping Network cosmetics and perfume doyenne whose husband, real estate tycoon Lee Miglin, was brutally murdered by Andrew Cunanan. She did, as always, an incredible job and if she's eligible for a guest actress Emmy (it being a limited series I'm not sure if she can qualify) the nomination (and perhaps win) is hers for the taking.
  18. Teddi is way too boring and self satisfied for my liking @Taoboi - an absolute dud. BH is very boring this season. As it was last season. This franchise has burned bright and burned out. We have none of the authentic drama of the first two seasons, all the crap of an overly manufactured reality show and it's pretty clear these women don't really enjoy being with each other socially and that RHBH is a job for them and nothing more. Tonight's episode had a bit of glamour, but it was all lipstick on a pig.
  19. Two things I love about this: 1. They gave her a garbage can 2. She asked for a garbage can! You really can get anything at Harrods. Viva Joan!
  20. Eva seems like she's ready to take part and stir it up.
  21. ATL So disappointed for Cynthia. That dude of hers came off very dishonestly - the editors had the receipts. I dislike Kandi's husband Todd - he seems like such a leech.
  22. That was another pointless episode of Beverly Hills. If I knew how to insert a gif file I would be inserting the Whooping Goldberg “You in danger, girl!” one from “Ghost”...this franchise is becoming totally irrelevant. Teddi is a huge dud. One of the most humourless and boring housewives of recent memory. Dorit is making an ass of herself. Rinna is stirring for the sake of it. Erika is a parody of herself. LVP and Kyle are carrying this show by themselves. And that isn’t ideal.
  23. Interestingly, Luann’s court date today was cancelled and neither her lawyer, nor the DA’s office would return calls to the NY Post. That would suggest, to me at least, that a plea deal is being worked out. As it should be. Luann didn’t even do a DUI. There are a million better ways she can atone rather than doing a minute in jail. Community service, paying restitution, a donation to the police benevolent fund, and making formal apologies to the hotel and the police will accomplish a lot more than jail ever would.
  24. Melissa’s jab about Kim was the best thing about that awful reunion. Siggy is terrible. Thank goodness she’s gone. Now she can fade away into obscurity where she belongs.
