Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
+1...Rinna hasn't done anything this season. And I haven't even minded. But she shouldn't try and twist what LVP said. Rinna knows she's contributed basically nothing but doesn't like being called out on it. I agree that letting Rinna and Erika go would be wise. Hell, bring on Faye, bring back Taylor. Dig Adrienne up from the grave and see if she'll do it. I was disgusted that Kyle didn't remember Lisa's grandmother. We all know who Nanny Kay is. It demonstrates that Kyle is as superficial as they come. That Erika recalled details with ease shows that, despite whatever else we can say about her, she IS listening. Kyle is all for Kyle. Always has been.

Dynasty: Discussion Thread
Watching old Alexis clips, you see how skilled an actress Joan is. The writing in season 2 - 4 was good and she amped it up. Yes, I'm sure you're right and that the writers of this version probably think of Colby Co era Alexis, late 1980s Joan with the coiffed Nancy Regan hair, and that's what they know of her, full diva, so that's what they're writing. And that's a shame, because they're writing the character based on the worst writing for her, rather than the sinister writing of season 2 - 4.

I watched her entrance in last night's episode. And then this promo. Nope. Alexis only in name. Nicollette has said in interviews promoting her debut that, although she's known Joan for years, she's never seen her performance as Alexis. It shows. And I wouldn't want to have to live up to it either.

NETFLIX: The Crown
I'm so glad you're enjoying it - I've rewatched it several times. I have what I'd consider a very good knowledge of the Royal Family (given that The Queen is my Queen it's only right that I should)...and this show has just made me respect and revere her more than ever. It also provided me with a greater understanding of Princess Margaret and how she wound up in the position that she did at the end of her life.

I’m with you. I’ve always thought she sucked.

Carole - lord. I didn’t recognize her either. She doesn’t suit being a blonde and whatever she’s done to her face has aged her.

ATL Nene and Kim are both terrible people and as fake as they come. BH Can we please have Camille back full time next season? Her VT’s about the lunch with Lois were flawless. Lisa Rinna’s mother is SO CUTE. I hope she’s lives forever. It was interesting to see LVP thank Rinna for her kindness. Erika remains awful.

The tone is all wrong. Joan's Alexis' first scenes, outside of the witness stand, were with Fallon and Steven. The Steven scene, in particular, when she basically tells him that she accepts him and talks about his childhood, is a beautiful scene and Joan emits a warmth and charm that makes Alexis' cunning in the following episodes effectively jarring. You see the two faces of Alexis. By having Nicollette's Alexis burst in full diva, it shows that all of the subtlety Joan imbued Alexis with is gone. Josh Schwartz is capable of writing a subtle character: Julie Cooper of The OC had these qualities. But it makes me wonder if it's really about whose playing the part. Melinda Clarke succeeded like Joan succeeded and Joan succeeded because Joan did her own thing.

+1. Tell 'em Karen. She is the only one with a decent tagline.

Unfortunately for Nicollette, it appears they are playing Alexis for laughs and smirks with camp in spades. None of what the early seasons (2-4) writing of Dynasty did with Alexis and Joan's menacing performance is in this performance, styling, opening line, etc.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I know that Teddi still keeps up with Kyle thanks to the interview she did with Heather McDonald’s Juicy Scoop podcast (her recaps of BH are hilarious). So it wouldn’t surprise me if Kyle got wise to how badly Erika comes across this season and adjusted her onscreen alliances accordingly. Erika gives ALL the f*cks with how sensitive she is. She can’t keep her anger bottled up an entire season. This is two in a row now. Rinna does look bored but this has been a reparative season for her image because she’s flying mostly under the radar and isn’t looking for conflict. Her VT in last night’s episode where she said she didn’t believe Teddi was stirring anything up is a good example. If she bails, she should bail after one more season where she is lots of fun. End on a high, not a whimper.

The blog is a must read. Teddi annihilated Erika. Erika is already on the defensive calling Teddi’s blog “pure comedy” but we all know why she doesn’t like it: Teddi nailed it. While Dorit is a really crap person I can’t say she’s completely heartless. I can’t say the same for Erika. She is so clinical and cold. The lights might be on but nobody seems to be home. Nasty and cruel. And word with what @Cat said.

First look of Nicollette Sheridan as Alexis...thank goodness Nolan Miller was cremated because he’d be turning in his grave.

She's checked into rehab: http://people.com/tv/heather-locklear-in-treatment-addiction/ It's so sad. Heather is basically living the lyrics of Lana Del Rey's 'Young and Beautiful'... I hope she spends months in rehab. She needs long term inpatient treatment in order to get a handle on this.

Ugh, Erika. What a humourless bitch. I can't wait for her book to flop, just like she flopped on DWTS. She is extremely overestimated.

I LOVED this episode of BH - LVP assassinated Dorit with sniper precision. Kiss the ring, Dorit, The Queen has spoken.

Indeed, the word on the street on Instagram is that they are filming. I can't imagine why else they'd all be together at a number of events, particularly a housewarming and an anniversary.

Apparently they were also filming at Stephanie’s housewarming party and Brandi was there.

Nope. Luann was nothing but nice to Tinsley and didn't make any negative comments about her history with the law last season. Luann looks amazing in that red dress. She's lost that alcohol bloat.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Kyle is the worst. She brought Frankel, her attack dog, to try and go after LVP but LVP kept smiling and laughing and there wasn’t a thing Kyle could do about that. Simply put, LVP didn’t take the bait. Kyle just whines and whines and whines. What a loser. “I wouldn’t have missed tonight. I had a jacket to pick up.” - LVP *snap* Erika was looking a lot like Morgan Fairchild with that chignon hair style. It really aged her. Enjoyed seeing Camille and her daughter. I loved LVP telling Dorit that she only grew to love her because of her longstanding relationship with PK. Dorit is hideous with her lies. She goes from trashing LVP to trashing Kyle in the blink of an eye. As fake as her boob job. Her kids are cute though. Rinna didn’t have much to add this episode but I do enjoy her a lot more this season than last. But supporting Kyle’s stupidity doesn’t reflect well on her. Harry Hamlin is the unsung hero of Rinna’s scenes - I can’t imagine him sitting in his dorm room crying, poor guy! They do have a sweet marriage. I’ve been liking Teddi more and more since the episodes at her beach house. LVP giving vile Kyle an apology took the wind out of Kyle’s sails - she can’t use it against her anymore.

Heather is so tragic. It appears that she's an alcoholic with mental health issues and codependency who doesn't think twice about mixing prescription pills and booze. Ageing is hard. Ageing in Hollywood when you're Heather Locklear and you used to be known as one of the most beautiful women in the world - it would be excruciating when you're as insecure as she appears to be. She's back dating some guy she knew in high school after Tommy Lee, Richie Sambora, David Spade, Jack Wagner, a plastic surgeon and who else knows...she can't hack it alone and she really, really, needs to learn to. Her spells in rehab haven't stuck, she's been in this same cycle for a solid 10 years. It seems to me that work kept Heather on the straight and narrow. She was Aaron Spelling's 'lucky penny' but now that penny has tarnished and Aaron isn't here anymore to save her with work. If he was alive, you can bet your last dollar she would be working for him.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
B&B was never as serious as Y&R. Y&R has drama while B&B had melodrama, but damn, when it had it, it was great. Stephanie vs Margo was an element we'd not seen in a Bell soap before. Margo wasn't quite a rival for Stephanie over Eric, but she took a shot at her every time she possibly could. Margo was a long suffering anti-heroine. Losing Darlene Conley was a bigger blow than I think anyone realized. Darlene's last year or two on the show weren't particularly memorable as she'd experienced some ill health and took time off, so there may have been a feeling that they'd transitioned out of the need for the Spectras and into the Marones (how wrong they were, Lesley Anne Down had nothing on Darlene). To me, Sally Spectra was what made B&B unique. No other character like her and she was a universe unto herself on the show. Losing Susan Flannery to retirement was always going to hurt the show, but I think it hurt it less than Darlene because there were other ways to source conflict on the show aside from Stephanie Forrester. While Stephanie could not be replaced, the 'space' Stephanie occupied could at least she filled by other characters. However, from an acting/talent perspective, losing Flannery really undermined B&B's credibility.
