  2. CBS played a TV movie from 9-11 that displaced Simon& Simon and Knots that week. Upon further investigation, it appears Dynasty did air that week but didn't make the top 20. Dynasty had yet to break through in the ratings at that stage. Premiere week Sept 27 - Oct 3 1982 Thurs 10-11 Hill St Blues 18.2/31 20/20 17.7/30 Knots Landing 16.1/27 Fri 9-10 Dallas 22.5/38 Knight Rider 15.4/26 Battle of the Network Stars 10.8/19 Fri 10-11 Falcon Crest 19.3/34 Remington Steele 12.5/22 Battle of . . 10.8/19 Dynasty was pre-empted for a TV movie Money on the Side.
  3. Week ending March 21st 1982 Dynasty scores its highest rating to that point 23.0/41 to rank 11th for the week. Dallas was #1 with a 26.9/44
  4. Falcon Crest scored it's all time best rating week of Feb 21st 1982 when Lana Turner made her first guest appearance. Dallas 29.9/48 ranked #1 60 Minutes 27.7/44 #2 Falcon Crest 25.2/43 #3
  5. Primetime Ratings week ending Feb 7 1982 #3 Dallas 28.4/45 #13 Falcon Crest 22.0 /39 #69 King's Crossing 10.2/16 (3rd lowest ranking of the week) Knots Landing was pre-empted that week.Not sure about Dynasty but think it may have been pre-empted also as it did not appear in the Top 20. No ranking available for Flamingo Road.
  6. Coincidental that Fern played a character with the surname Ewing!
  7. Moving Flamingo Road to 9.00 Mondays would have put it up against MASH and ABC Movie, both top raters as well as displacing the NBC Monday movie which often scored big numbers. Flamingo was tried at 9.00 Tues for a few weeks and didn't do well.
  8. A November 1981 syndicated soap opera column stated that John Burnett was the new headwriter with Millee Taggart and Courtney Simon as assistants.That never came to pass.I've never head of Burnett,. Does anyone know more?
  9. Gerald Gordon became the third actor to play Mark Dante.The previous Mark, Michael Delano, was only on for 3 eps. Apparently, the Pollocks wanted Gordon for the role as they had written for him on The Doctors but he was playing hardball. When the show expanded to 45 mins they had to go ahead with the Mark character. When contract negotiations were settled Gordon stepped into the role.

  22. Someone needs to interview Fran Myers. She has been a part of soaps since the mid 60's .I'd love to read her take on the genre and her memories of GL in the 60's and 70's.

  24. August 83 Daytime race among three networks is getting hotter. For week of July 25, according to NBC, CBS and ABC tied with 6.7 rating, while NBC scored 5.5, closest it has been to competition in five years. In shares, CBS had 24, ABC 23 and NBC 20- closest NBC has been to ABC since March 1980.
