  1. Nephew Christopher Meyer, Florence Camargo her mother, Victoria, son Darien Minnick, sister Felice Meyer and brother in law Alfred Meyer
  2. Jill was definitely more tenacious in her pursuits and she was prepared to work for it. I think it would have been better had Jill been at Jabot after her first marriage to John. It would have been more realistic than a young wife sitting around at home. That would have provided more conflict with Jack and Ashley at work, especially if Jill's ideas did have merit and she felt she was being stymied. That way she would have been more entitled to a share of Jabot. Nikki, on the other hand, showed no interested in any intellectually stimulating work- look pretty in front of a camera - OK. She became a society wife-always dressed to the nines at home. I think Nikki was a little underwritten in those years as to what she actually did with her time. But the idea of her working is something I don't believe Nikki would adjust to. The idea might appeal but I don't know how focussed she might be. If this was actively addressed, it would have been interesting. They could have explored that Nikki actually found ,after stumbling, that she was capable but I think as the years went on the writing was less specific towards the character.
  3. I was quite happy for Brad to be killed off. I liked Brad well enough and DD as a performer but Brad had pretty run his course. Of course they could have found things for him to do - that holds for any character- but then he would have become yet another character endlessly romancing new characters or revisiting the past. He's worked his way through Traci, Ashley, Nikki, Victoria, Sharon etc Brad leaving town was a viable option, but then you have the task of explaining or ignoring his absence.
  4. Nancy Malone Guiding Light ?? From an interview with Ernest Graves “One day, an actress broke her leg, and it was 10:30am and we were worried, but Walter said, “I’m calling Nancy Malone, so don’t worry!’ Nancy arrived, glanced at the script, and did the show perfectly!'”
  5. Penny was engaged to Tom Pope but he stepped aside so she could re-unite with Jeff. Early 1966 1967 Ellen with daughter Carol Ann (later Annie)
  6. Chuckling... I can literally see Jeanne delivering those lines. Again without that vulnerability Kay/Nikki wouldn't have worked. If Nikki was just a dumb slut, Kay wouldn't have given her 5 minutes. At what point did Nikki mature somewhat? I think during her marriage to Victor and then affair with Jack,OG Nikki was still present. Was it the marriage to PB's Jack that started a change? I can imagine Nikki married to Terry Lester's Jack would have had a different quality to her and the union. But Peter Bregman had a different essence and Bill wrote to that, changing Nikki a little in the progress, What do you guys think?
  7. And that kind of character can be a writer's dream. If the audience is on her side a Nikki like character can stumble from one (self induced ) disaster to the next without wearing out her welcome. Way less annoying than the perils of 'Mary Sue' or some uber bitch always getting the upper hand.
  8. And none of those people who accepted bribes will be held accountable? I know it's a soap but it might be interesting for once that this story be treated with some element of reality. If you come back from the dead, what sort of bureaucratic stuff would you have to go through to re-establish yourself? I'll take MS as 'good' Phyllis for a while as she'll have to dial down her worst 'acting' instincts.
  9. So what did Greg get to do throughout 78? Was that the Linda Larkin story? And thanks for your response(s) .Can always rely on you and Broderick to dig deep about various Y&R eras.
  10. I wonder at what point Bill decided Nikki had some potential as a longer running character? Was she at first one of his Summer teens who would highlight a social problem eg STD's and then learn her lesson and disappear? The difference with Nikki ,unlike Jody before her, was that she was related to another character, so had more presence on the canvas. Did Bill bring back Greg with the intent of him hooking up with Nikki and thus anchoring her onto the canvas?
  11. I just can't accept that billion dollar tech firms operate out of a smallish Wisconsin town by people with no qualifications and staff.
  12. Thanks for that. The GCAC was an odd choice of venue. It was more formal than Gina's. It was a hotel and there was gym and a rooftop bar. So there were customers all dressy while others were in athletic gear. At some point the display cabinet went from trophies and momentos to the cheap looking tchotchkes seen in other sets. It also seemed to shrink at some point.
  13. Y&R created a set for Jonas' club located in Wherever USA. Up until then the meeting spot in GC was The Allegro (formerly Pierre's) When Pierre died in 74, did Leslie buy the restaurant from Sally or Pierre's sister? Les was an up and coming concert pianist, how could she afford to buy it? Was Leslie's plan to be hands on, or was it merely an investment? Anyhoo, Brock started working there at some point. Back to Jonas' club. Leslie decided to revamp The Allegro by magically redecorating it identically to his wherever venue. So the set for Jonas' lived on in GC. Did he sell the other club? Jonas' got renamed Gina's and lived on until it was burned down. Gina then shifted to GCAC. Why didn't she rebuild her old club? So many questions but I'm sure we can piece together some answers.
  14. I know about her being written off in the mid 70's, but not the 60's. Could you please elaborate? Being dropped in the 70's was I think it was at the time that Dan , Susan etc were written off. Annie/Dee were still young teens. So David was at the hospital and it was assumed Ellen was at home with the girls. Then when the show expanded and the girls were aged, Ellen returned. Wonder how Pat felt about being dropped? Obviously, she rolled with it and happily returned.
  15. Josh tells business/job stories pretty much in cafes and restaurants and homes. see Lauren, Nate, Elena, Rey, Nick,Noah, Tessa. Devon,Mariah, Amanda, Imani. Which , in my mind devalues them even further , especially when they're pretty shaky in the first place. For Josh to say business stories are paramount when all we have is Victoria's office,Adam's office and Chance.com office...maybe Jabot will return? Personally, I would be focusing more on Jabot as cosmetics is appealing to the target market and more relatable than 'tech' stuff we never see. And wasn't there just a non-story about Nate and Elena decorating? Was he still at Cane/Lily's former house? Will the condo get a makeover? That same decor when Neil,Adam and Chelsea lived there. All quite bizarre really.
  16. Did Jonas even get a last name? Jerry Lacey had been popular on Love of Life I guess, but Jonas was a complete washout. There was no chemistry with Leslie/Pris and he was never fleshed out. He hung around for a few years and I think disappeared w/o trace.
  17. Nate was a surgeon. Then he was promoted to Chief of Surgery. He was also doing Ask MD on line. He then passed that onto Elena. Most of this happened at Society and Crimson Lights. Now Lily has asked him to leave the hospital to become exec. Makes zero sense. But it's what Neil would have wanted.
  18. Aaaagh! More 'corporate' stories. Jabot will open a tech division. And hire back Billy. Nate will encourage Elena to join Chancellor. And so on... Much ado about nothing.
  19. I agree. Hope it is worth it. I'm thinking back to Adam's return with MG where they had the chance to start with a clean slate but 5 mins later Adam is meddling with Victor's meds, Don't want to see Diane strutting around town issuing threats. At least Sally will get a break from being town pariah.
  20. Yes, faked up drama for the sake of it. Paul got 2 mentions and I wondered if Doug would agree to return if there was a change of management? At the moment, he could have been a comfort to Lauren and involved in Chance's story. It was great to see Ashley back. But where is Nina? Something about her dialogue made me feel it was more suited to Traci and I wondered if Beth were not available and Eileen agreed to come in. Ashley was confronting Phyllis and being very protective of Jack in a way Traci might have done. Eileen made it work for her character, but still... Or is my imagination overactive today?
  21. I know there has been a poster who addressed that situation before - those weird instances where time stood still in one story while others progressed. That was a little quirk of Bill's writing in those years. I wonder if it was one of those things that came up every so often in mapping out episodes and he'd say to Kay-'Darn it, let's just do it and the audience won't even notice and if they do so what'
  22. Poor Susan Walters having to play that scene.
  23. Father and daughter? It was never resolved
  24. Just like the masks, the devil can become a go to plot point for years to come. Can't be bothered coming up with a decent plot? Just have the devil take over!
