  1. It was a Jennifer Gatti situation. Yep. At that point you could pair Heather with anyone & get a good scene. That's how good she is. Indeed. THAT would really give Victor & Nikki reason to be angry. Unlike now where Victor has to constantly interfere with "Villy" up to provide them with conflict & Nikki is a non entity.
  2. It was mixed. Partly because of the offensive recast & partly because of Vaughan's lack of skill as an actor. Actually prior to Michael she & Diamont were chem tested & they were HOT. But then Heather has chemistry with almost anybody.
  3. Yep. Her first few episode (back in GC) consisted of her running around GC bitching at people (like Ashley & Michael). Indeed. Even more so though because Victor & Michael hadn't become friends yet. Her success depends on good writing. She's a good actress stuck with a character that needs a lot of work to make her viable (beyond the Mitch Lawrence/James Stenbeck/Stefano Dimera psycho cliche) again.
  4. Yep. Stupid writers. She wasn't done. She actually had a VERY promising relationship with Michael that was beginning that got cut short by Heather's (understandable) leaving. Ratings fell because they were falling for everyone. Plus a lot of characters (like Diane, Liv, Paul, Neil & Jack) were slowly being destroyed by agendas. Heather leaving the next year was the worst thing to happen to Y&R though. Sheila outgrew Y&R years ago. Just because her story began on Y&R doesn't mean it needed to continue or end on Y&R. She belongs on B&B where the majority of the canvas (Eric, Stephanie, Rick, Amber, Brooke, Ridge, Nick & Taylor) have major history with her.
  5. And that makes all the difference. Diane makes EVERYONE better. Victor, Nikki, Ashley, Michael, Jack, Paul, Drucilla, Leanna, Cricket, Victoria. Even characters like Neil, John & Jill were fun with her. Yep. Diane is a very important Y&R character but for years she's been stupidly thrown under the bus to prop other characters. It's a waste of an awesome character (played by three talented actresses) with a ridiculous amount of ties to the current canvas. An umbrella story is any major story that uses a lot of character & takes months (sometimes years) to be resolved. For instance Victor/Nikki's love is an umbrella story, Ryan dying was an umbrella story, Jill Vs. Katherine was an umbrella story, Newman Vs. Jabot was an umbrella story, Dru/Neil/Olivia/Nathan/Keesha/Malcolm was an umbrella story, Billy/Mackenzie was an umbrella story, etc. Sheila needed to stay on B&B. Y&R didn't need her & she didn't need Y&R.
  6. Agendas & Bad Writing will do it every time. Danny/Cricket were annoyingly sweet but they were genuine. Scottie Pippen & The Ostrich? Ew. Bitchy Nikki is Fun Nikki. One of the reasons she hated Hope was because she couldn't beat Hope (like she could with Julia, Ashley & Leanna). The ironic thing Katherine ended up liking Hope (especially once she & Victor broke up). One of the reasons Sheila had limited airtime is because her story wasn't an umbrella story. That's one of the reasons Giggly Pheila failed so bad. Y&R literally ruined the character to make her interact unnecessarily with their pets.
  7. To be fair Victor/Ashely/Jack/Nikki was a huge tentpole story (which still goes on to a degree even today) long before Bill even created Sheila. And Danny/Cricket were a legit supercouple. So it makes sense they got so much airtime. But Sheila/Scott/Lauren certainly didn't hurt for airtime. Especially from the middle to the end of Kimberlin's initial run. That's part of their charm.
  8. Khalil's problem is (and always has been) that she just isn't a sympathetic actress. She plays EVERYTHING the same way (bitchy & entitled). Compare her to an actress like Liz Hendrickson who made Chloe, a largely unsympathetic (bordering on insane) recurring nag, into a character that was quite viable (before the scenery chewing & unnecessary family "twist") all on her own. Or compare her to actresses like Heather Tom, Tricia Cast & Ashley Bashioum who when they were Khalil's age were knocking it out of the park on a regular basis.
  9. Nope. Which is why he disappeared once the Sheila debacle ended.
  10. Bill & Eric got along well but Bill did not (beyond a couple rare times) tolerate Eric's tantrums. Nope. Sheila's return pretty much went as planned
  11. Too bad LML stripped Nikki (and every other character) of their complexities.
  12. After 15 years of solid work & almost no drama Y&R literally let Liv just disappear from the canvas. It was shameful. It's an industry problem & it's been going on for years. It's only gotten noticeably worse in the past few years given so few minorities are left in Daytime. Davetta wasn't perfect either. It took her a couple of months to really get comfortable but by the time she & Daniel got married she was awesome. Her comforting Devon through his hearing loss & confronting Carmen was some of her best work.
  13. She posted several things about Davetta then acted like she didn't. Actually Bobby returned for a two day stint (after he initially left) to reunite with Brittany & Joshua. He died the next week & Brittany left GC a couple of weeks later. Enos & Woodland were cut to pay for Kimberlin. The Veronica story was very boring. Candace Daly was a competent actress but she wasn't Kimberlin Brown (or even Stacy Haiduk). Again Nikki's near death experience & Anthony Pena's reaction to Veronica's death were ok but the rest was just boring.
  14. Nope. She never wanted to leave but Y&R screwed her & even now she still wants to work just not on contract (she'd wants a Tracey Bregman deal)
  15. Tonya is awesome. She's very professional & rarely makes waves. The way Y&R took her for granted (and continues doing so) is criminal
  16. Boring. But it was worth it for Nikki's near death experience & Anthony Pena's reaction to Veronica's death.
  17. That's not why Y&R is keeping her. It's an agenda. Tonya had issues but she's all about the work (always has been). Y&R & Enos should only do it if they're serious about a Bobby/Nikki pairing. Otherwise he can stay "dead".
  18. Victoria never really cared for her. She always had (valid) issues with Christel but once Christel began being increasingly demanding & acting passive aggressively bitchy about everything Victoria was done with her. You wouldn't be the only one. He "died" but it was off screen. Which means he can return if Enos & Y&R ever feels like it.
  19. It was mixed (no pun intended). Certain people had issue with Davetta's Lily because they felt it was unrealistic that her Lily grew up in Europe (which strangely enough never stopped them from accepting Scottie Pippen's Valley Girl Lily). Others loved her (her relationship with her family, friends & Daniel).
  20. Y&R was good up until the fall of 2003 which is really when things began going downhill. 2004 was when almost everything wrong with Y&R currently really began. Y&R made a HUGE mistake ditching Raul/Brittany for Brittany/Bobby. Lauren Woodland had much more chemistry with David Lago & Enos/MTS were ridiculously hot together. And Enos & Woodland had little chemistry & nothing to do (that wasn't purely plot driven) once they were married. Davetta & Adrianne were perfect (as friends & individual characters). They were both believable extensions of their parents. There is NO WAY Khalil's Lily could've ever been raised by Drucilla Barber & Traci's daughter would never be as shallow & vapid as Tammin's Colleen.
  21. Sony got rid of Adrianne (because of temporary weight gain). As far as Davetta's firing that was just a complete debacle from everyone involved.
  22. Under Smith? Nobody except JVA, JT & Bryton. Jerry Douglas was good with JVA's Gloria but it was undercut once Glo was recast with Chapman & everyone became Gloria proppers. Under LML's run it was Davetta's Lily & Adrianne's Colleen. Two characters that were given new life with awesome recasts. Under MAB/Sheffer/Hamner Victor, Nikki, Ashley & Adam (and to a lesser extent Heather) were treated relatively well (early on) while Jeanne/Michael Fairman made Katherine's "death" watchable & Luckinbill helped JT grow into a real hero. Miller's Billy, Ford's Mackenzie, Driscoll's Chance & Hendrickson's Chloe were all fairly tolerable until Mackenzie/Chance were thrown under the bus & Miller/Hendrickson began chewing scenery. And horrible writing aside Jess, Jeanne & Tricia did some of the best work in years with the Undead Phillip twist & Thom actually grew into a solid actor (despite a really rough return) by the end of his inital "Cane Propping" run.
  23. Y&R would've never paired Victoria & JT (which was totally OOC for Victoria) had Heather stayed. The only reason they were paired in the first place was because Amelia & Thad were dating.
