Early Hope had a higher voice, too. Makes me wonder if she took voice modulation lessons or something. Or maybe smoking played a role? Either way, it does seem different.- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
- Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Wow, no wonder Hunter was almost cancelled in its first season! Kind of shocking to see it in 66th place! (It was on opposite Dallas on Fridays, though it had premiered in September on a Tuesday.) I recall reading about how someone showed Brandon Tartikoff the upcoming 2-parter, "The Snow Queen" (with Dennis Franz as a dirty cop in the guest cast), and that was when he made the decision to wait on axing the show and wait for another night to open up to give the show another chance. Exit a show called Hot Pursuit (starring Eric Pierpoint, probably better known from Alien Nation and as Rita's last steady boyfriend, Eric Russell, before she and Chris got together on Silk Stalkings), which bombed, then the 9 p.m. show, Partners In Crime with Lynda Carter and Loni Anderson, was moved to an hour later when Hot Pursuit fizzled; that did no better, and finally, Hunter was moved to Saturday nights at 10, and the rest is history. That was the beginning of the turnaround for NBC on Saturday nights. Once The Golden Girls premiered the following season, NBC saw its fortunes massively improve...- The Spin Off Thread
She was also on the short-lived political comedy, The Powers That Be, with John Forsythe and a pre-Frasier David Hyde Pierce, who played her suicidal hubby. (Yes, it was a comedy.) Mahaffey also recurred on Wings as crazy Sandy Cooper, who would act cuckoo for cocoa puffs whenever she was alone with Joe Hackett, but act normal around everyone else, so no one believed Joe when he would say Sandy was crazy. If I recall, toward the latter half, Helen finally did see Sandy at her nuttiest, too. And as for Teri Garr, I don't know about the other '90s projects she was in, as I never watched those, but she was inspired as Phoebe and Ursula's biological mother on Friends, also named Phoebe. She and Lisa Kudrow looked and acted so much alike...- ARTICLE: Peacock Orders Second Chapter of ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem,’ Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell to Reprise Roles
I could see this if not for Susan Seaforth Hayes' tweet about the kids being in trouble, etc. Makes me wonder if Doug and Julie will be involved. The wording doesn't sound like a dream. But with Ron, who the hell knows?- ARTICLE: Peacock Orders Second Chapter of ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem,’ Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell to Reprise Roles
So start with Gwen or some other rando, not Bo Brady. Right. Didn't some AMC character even see Jesse as an angel? And we see how that went, too. (And I was happy about that reversal, too.) Yes, soaps used to have some reality. But those days - pardon the pun - are gone. If one wants to re-introduce reality, as I said, use the billion extraneous characters the show has, not the beloved classic characters.- ARTICLE: Peacock Orders Second Chapter of ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem,’ Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell to Reprise Roles
Wow, this literally surprised me! SO happy about this. I just pray Bo is not a figment of someone's imagination or a ghost. The downside of this is Bo likely having to kiss some serial killer ass. But I'm still happy.- The Politics Thread
Putting this video here as, let's face it, his videos are mainly very political. Seems CBS Sunday Morning interviewed Randy Rainbow earlier this month! And i was surprised to learn - as I'm sure others were - that his name really is Randy Rainbow, since birth! Great interview. Enjoy!- The Politics Thread
We're being punked. Right? RIGHT?!- Deidre Hall guest role on "Wiseguy"...
Always knew Deidre Hall did Our House on NBC in the '80s, but apparently, she also guest starred on the much gritter CBS show, Wiseguy, in the little-seen (due to copyright)"Dead Dog Records" arc. In this episode, bunches of actual musicians also appeared, including Deborah Harry, Glenn Frey, and Mick Fleetwood, and the legend of Rocky Horror himself, Tim Curry, also appeared:- The Media/Journalism Thread
My whole thing in that statement is the discussion of background checks, etc. Did Musk fail it?! And why?- The Media/Journalism Thread
I have no idea how these things work or if Elon Musk would have the kind of pull, but maybe Musk was open to letting right-wingers that were banned, i.e. Trump, back onto the platform, and the rest were all, "Hell no, not happening!" or whatever... (Or, most likely, the above had zip to do with any of it. LOL!)- The Politics Thread
Projection, the GQP way.- In-person Daytime Emmys set for June 24 on CBS/Paramount+
I realize the Daytime Emmys are not just about soaps, but that portion seems so sad now, what with only 4 soaps left. I guess the streaming soaps could be nominated, too, haven't paid attention. But the prestige seems to have bolted. I'd say around '99, when Susan Lucci finally nabbed her Emmy, then ratings dropped, since people no longer felt they had to see if she would win or lose again or whatever, maybe?- The Politics Thread

Awww, I guess Kristian Alfonso caught up with Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes not long ago. And other former/current soap stars (Lauren Koslow, Lauralee Bell, Mary Beth Evans, Lisa Rinna) all commented, too. https://www.instagram.com/p/Car_RKOFkw1/ Great picture!- Days Promo (4/4/22)
I wish the jab would be enough to end the SaRenee schitt, but if Anna gets arrested, "Renée" probably presses charges or some garbage. I am so over this mess.- What Are You Listening To?
In memory of Taylor Hawkins:- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Yeah, the Taylor Hawkins news hurts. I have always loved the Foos, and will also be turning 50 later this year. So that is an extra sting. My sympathy goes out to Hawkins' wife and kids, of course. But I cannot imagine what Dave Grohl must be feeling right now. I know they were close. Not to mention he has gone through this before with Kurt Cobain in his Nirvana days. May Taylor Hawkins rest in peace. Such a loss.- B&B March 2022 Discussion Thread
Is the grass green?- The Spin Off Thread
I have no idea if this is true, but a Wiki page (I think that is where I read it?) said John Ritter chose Mary Cadorette himself, as he supposedly felt a connection with her. I also recall reading somewhere that Joyce DeWitt was allegedly hurt by the spinoff (I can't remember why; maybe she thought Janet and Jack should have ended up together?).- The Spin Off Thread
Also, well before the second failed spinoff of Three's A Crowd in 1984, Three's Company also introduced the first failed spinoff, The Ropers around 1979 or so (which airs on the Three's Company channel on Pluto TV, as does Three's A Crowd!). Of course, it is well known that Norman Fell and Audra Lindley got screwed by this spinoff. I read Norman Fell did not even want to do it, but ABC had promised him that if the spinoff failed, that he and Audra Lindley could return to Three's Company. But then TPTB hired Don Knotts as Ralph Furley, who was a hit, and the producers basically kicked Fell and Lindley to the curb following the cancellation of The Ropers.- The Politics Thread
And ever so happily last night, ABC News was discussing the possibility of World War III - said outright! - should any future negotiations between Ukraine and Russia fail. I get being cautious, but damn it, someone needs to handle Putin and his lackeys. How long will this madman hold Ukraine and, by extension, the world hostage? - ARTICLE: Peacock Orders Second Chapter of ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem,’ Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell to Reprise Roles
