  1. Tony had a flirtation with Ava and from what I remember he had a "mysterious past", he was a doctor or something. (Shades of Y&R's Brad Elliot?) I liked Alice Haining and Colleen Dion as Cecelia. Rebecca Staab was kind of blant (or she just reminded me of a very bad GL era). The character could have been around for years as the show's blue-collar Lauren Fenmore against Trisha or Stacey.
  2. I think she left town with Tony Benedict, the guy who was renting a room at Kate's.
  3. I always thought tha she would have been great as Beth Logan on B&B - and the character would still be around.
  4. The Clay/Ava idea sounds good, but I never cared for RM or JH in the role (for different reasons). Once the charismatic Roya was gone and the Alex Masters saga started I was done with them. All of the sudden the aristocratic Clay was involved in a mess straight out of Days and GH. The Aldens were not the family for this kind of story. Could you imagine John or Jack Abbott in a Rambo saga? Lisa Peluso' s Ava was an airhead. Roya's character hid her pain behind her greed.
  5. Early Ava was more like Nola Reardon. She seemed more like a Marland creation. Rick was more or less like early Curtis at first. Curtis/Stacey/Jack/Ava was the story that should have been told. There was no real need for a Rick, but new writers and producers every other week will only harm a show.
  6. I just watched a 2017 movie called "Ingrid Goes West" on Netflix and Joseph Breen of GL, ATWT and Loving fame, played a small part. It was a nice surprise. His previous IMDB credit was in 1993, playing Scott on ATWT.
  7. I always thought that Dennehy's Blake was Beth Raines. Any suggestions for a Blake recast instead of Keifer?
  8. Terry Lester was offered the part.
  9. Wow, these articles are amazing! Thank you so much!
  10. I can't stand Season 2 Pray Tell either. So over the top all the time, trying to dominate every scene. He was much better as a secondary character last year. I loved Season 1, but 2 is much darker, despressing and... boring. Several Ryan Murphy things like guest stars who don't make that much sense (Frederica the cabaret mobster) and everyone turning into a cartoon of themselves start bothering me. It also feels as though TPTB are too busy "making tv history" that have forgotten writing captivating stories.
  11. I just read that Maitland Ward (Jessica Forrester, B&B) is a porn actress these days. I googled "Maitland Ward porn" and yes.. it turns out it is true.
  12. Thank you so much for your amazing posts. I can't get enough of them. We are very lucky that you post on this board.
  13. How about Rita Stapleton? Showing up in town with her son?
  14. I have to say that I am loving Althea's Gloria Swanson look.
  15. Could you please share this article with us? I love articles/interviews about writers or executive producers and this thread would be the perfect place for them.
  16. TPTB were crazy to kill off John Abbott. With these random episodes from the 70s and 80s it is fascinating to watch the story/and the evolution of Jill Foster. We have seen her work in a salon and read magazines about the rich and famous, meeting Kay for the first time, wanting to work at Jabot, talking with her mother about her choices. Now in this 1985 once again she is not happy with her life. I am mad at Y&R for erasing Jill's history and then dropping the character. These days she should be living her worst nightmare; living in the Chancellor mansion and having turned into Kay with a younger woman trying to take over her life. Marla Adams has always been such a stunning woman!
  17. This sounds 100 times more interesting than today's soap.
  18. I think that it has also to do with the fact that Dynasty hadn't premiered yet and changed the meaning of "lushly produced soap". John Conboy's 1982 Capitol is very similar to classic Y&R as we know it.
  19. Brenda Epperson also appeared on the Nanny.
  20. This John/Jill scene reminded me of the Nanny a little bit with all these "Miss Foster". Hmmm... A young beautician enters the life of a rich man raising two girls and a boy on his own. In 1980 both Jill Foster and Erica Kane fell for cosmetics tycoons. Once again Bill and Agnes had the same idea.
  21. It looks as though the writers have never watched Dynasty, the Nicolette scenes from the trailer look like a bad parody from the early nineties.
  22. The background music was amazing.
  23. For some reason I thought of Luke and Laura too. Nikki's scenes with the cult reminded me of Delia Ryan as well.
  24. Wow, thank you so much! I never thought that I'd get to watch 1980 Y&R My thoughts: I liked Bond Gideon a lot. This was Jill's Linda Gray era before she became Joan Collins once Brenda Dickson returned. It was fascinating to listen to Liz Foster say that "One day Mister Abbott will be very happy he hired you." And after all these years we all still in the Jabot offices dealing with Abbott drama. The cult scene was perfect. So cheesy, so late 70s. Nikki's WTF look. I loved the Williams scenes and I would love to see more of Tammy Taylor. Greg was horrible, such a drama queen. The Lucas/Sebastian/Jonas scenes reminded me of GL for some reason.
  25. Did the show have big plans for Robert Newman's character?
