  1. Sheesh he had a thing for older wealthy woman!
  2. Thanks for your hard work as always @YRfan23!!!!! I have much to catch up on myself! By that point if I recall right Eric had started a singing/music career and left town. He never found out that he was indeed the father of Julia's daughter Jamie. Julia's new husband Charles adopted her, I think only Victor knew the real truth. By Julia's 2002 Charles had passed away, Jamie was in college and there was no mention of Garrison at all.
  3. I always forget Dano is actually a few years older than what I think she is, I think it was the whole Felicia turns 40 in '89 that throws me off. I also think it also came to how each show stylized their cast members as well.
  4. I do give credit for them trying lol. It worked for both AW and ATWT to some extent during the same time frame. I think it would have worked if there was stronger characterizations and maybe even stronger ties to show's history i.e. why not have them turn out to be Trudy Bauer's grandchildren or have Chelsea been the long forgotten Lana Reardon. Instead Johnny, Lacey, and Chelsea came off as so goofy. The show did the Reardon's better with Bridget and Matt in the '90s.
  5. Lol we always joked Chelsea was an alien from a parallel dimension masquerading as a Reardon.
  6. What did everyone think of "Looney" Rae Rooney there in 1989/1990?
  7. Ah thanks, I was trying to think of what all was going on around that same time after the first half of '89 had been absolutely stellar. I know the Dana Jones/Beth stuff, Neil's murder, and Looney Rae Rooney weren't all that well received either.
  8. Has this been shared yet? Goodness Linda Dano was wayyy to young to be paired with Henderson Forsythe!
  9. Thanks for clarifying Carl! I remember for the longest they were in complete opposite orbits and the connection was hazy by the time they both left town at the start of 1996.
  10. The 1980-81 line-up was disastrous CBS Daytime. Contrary to popular belief, the June 1981-March 82 line-up actually fared very well for CBS Daytime. I had good laugh seeing EON beating Days even in the wake on an increasing amount of ABC affiliates dropping the program. The 1980 massacre at Days really did a number. This is interesting, I can understand the 1994 drop in ratings as the show greatly sputtered out with BTS changes and the even further drop in ratings 1996 under McTavish but what caused the 89-90 drop?
  11. If I recall right I think Rick was actually Jef's uncle but I'd have to go back over some notes of mine. Not sure about Tucker and Jessica, may have been part of Jessica's backstory in the same fashion that Shannon had been "best friends" with Karen Haines.
  12. I remember that 2004 went uncharacteristically completely downhill for Molly, and then we got the godawful Christina Chambers of Sunset Beach and Spyder Games infamy as a Molly recast and that was it. I recall the actress playing Nikki Munson at the time should have been playing Molly instead as she sounded and looked like Lesli Kay and could actually act.
  13. So in the past couple years I've pretty much for better or worse re-watched a lot of ATWT from 1993-1998, any suggestions of where to start at next? Speaking of Molly a few pages back @Khan, I did venture in 1999 just enough to see Molly make her epic diss of Yvonne Perry's Rosanna. "Hi Rosanna I'm your cousin Molly, oh those clothes look so dowdy on someone so rich!" The biggest problem with Molly during the first couple years was she was pushed everywhere without rhyme and reason: a retcon history of her and Holden having a child, pushed into the Stenbeck family, and then was also Carly's cousin! No, Dusty Donovan never pushed her into the Snyder Pond either. Her pairing with Jake was a breathe of fresh air and allowed Molly to finally develop on her own and let Kay's acting abilities shine through There was a reason it was so great when Kay's Molly returned in 2009 with a typical Molly down on her luck story with a nefarious man story. 😦 at Finn Carter's arrest btw.
  14. Isn't that shame too? B&B was so on fire 1997-1998, from Eric & Stephanie's wedding disaster, Grant's theft(well, it was HIS own designs!) from Forrester and showing up at Spectra in retaliation against Brooke and the Forresters doing him wrong, the fashion show in Italy complete with Stephanie's revenge against Sally at Lake Como, Sheila pushed to suicide and jumped off the roof in her wedding dress, and of course Brooke & Taylor having each risen the stakes between Taylor's pregnancy and of course Brooke's fake pregnancy and fake miscarriage.
  15. Actually if I recall right Stephen Gregory chose to leave Y&R to quit acting altogether, and only later appeared on SVU as a recurring character as a favor to a long lost friend who had called him up. Ryan was a replacement for Chase, I suspect if Gregory had stayed around we'd just end up a Chase/Victoria pairing in 1991 instead.
  16. Erm, the only regret I ever heard was Bell said was him killing off Phillip III; by the time 1995 had rolled around JC was calling the show "The Young and the Rest of Us" and I'm sure it bothered Bell but he was having success with Y&R's third generation; otherwise he kept the right characters. I know late '96 and early '97 the show had really stagnated but Bell did turn the show around right before he officially retired and in perfect shape for Alden to take over. Nikki scored herself a "younger" man; we never got the Ryan/Jill one night stand the show really wanted to do and almost headed that way. I had heard something Ryan and Jill were suppose to sleep together, Victor find out and then blackmail Jill, leading to Jill being prime suspect in Victor's shooting, but I guess the show decided to play it safe and go some other absurd route in having Jill being prime suspect in Victor's shooting in addition to Brad. Ashley Abbott was a character Bell loved and knew how vital she was to the show. Otherwise she wouldn't have been recast for Shari Shattuck, which did prove to be a determent to the whole Audrey North story that went south. Otherwise the show was just fine, and Nick & Sharon were a lot more dynamic back. Network pressure, massive backstage politics, and in-fighting is what destroyed Y&R's later end of the third generation and decimated its fourth generation.
  17. After re-watching 1994, 1995, parts of 1996(ho boy did this show go off the rails, even by today's standards!) and 1997, any recommendations of what ATWT year I should re-watch next? I was thinking skipping ahead to 2000, but also wanted to revisit the glory days.
  18. Wow what a twisted finale. Changes are coming for Season 3, but I don’t know how long the show will actually go on for: https://tvline.com/2019/05/25/dynasty-recap-season-2-episode-22-finale-liam-dead-alive/
  19. Like Dynasty, this show has disintegrated into a complete mess. The cast has talent, but it feels like the show is recycling Pretty Little Liars stories and doesn't represent the spirit of the comics anymore. It's sister show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix is interesting but tries so hard that something about it rings false.
  20. Lol I'm playing catch up and thought I was replying to the Worst Producer thread. Ashley has historically since 1982 been the show's #2 heroine/leading lady. Granted during Brenda's later years Ashley was #4 or #5 and during the Shattuck years probably dead last after Megan Dennison but the character of Ashley Abbott is so unique, iconic, and vital to Y&R that to lose her is a good way to know that the person in charge is indeed an idiot in charge.
  21. Anytime a Y&R EP lets Ashley go they always get fired right afterward. Latham, MAB, and Mal all learned this the hard way. Anyways, to break down in my opinion the worst EP for each show I've watched over the years: ATWT: Goutman and Valente AW: Charlotte Savitz B&B: Thudley Bell Days: Ken Corday GL: Jon Conboy Y&R: MAB, Pratt, and Mal all could be in the running for this one, but quite honestly this one still goes to Latham.
  22. Oh lord this is about the hokiest thing I’ve ever seen done, but some how Gillies actually pulled it off.
  23. Yes Daniel Bedingfield did appear as himself singing the song on GL but I thought it was for Tony/Marah, but reading I do agree it must have been for the Manny wedding at the Bauer BBQ that year. It was an interesting ad campaign CBS had ran in the summer of 2003 with Bedingfield's song for all four of its soaps, I do remember liking the ATWT one a lot. However as just about all the CBS summertime campaings fell apart from 2002-2005ish, we got that lovely B&B promo of Amber holding Little Eric over a cliff with the announcer yelling "IS THIS HOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?" Which lead way to CBS Daytime's disastrous "Leave the Lights On" campaign that fall. Not only did the annoying light rock song play for every Crimson Lights scene on Y&R, but it also served as the background for music for the strange Friday cliffhanger which had Jeffrey and Beth having sex on the floor of a Japanese restaurant juxtaposed with Shayne crashing his car on GL.
  24. I never understood why AW had such a penchant for killing off viable characters in the '80s. Sally Frame was one of them, but there was also the gruesome inexplicable murder of Julia Matthews Shearer as well.
  25. Christian LeBlanc aside, I know Biredz mentioned him, Terry Lester, and Michael Corbett was Y&R's trio of gay actors in the late '80s. I know Lester died of AIDS, but other what Biredz mentioned hadn't ever heard anything official on Corbett, although Walton did post this picture of her and him on TPIR set two years ago:
