  1. Oh, come on. Sometimes, a cigar -- or, in this case, a banana -- is just that.
  2. Well, that's your opinion.
  3. Mother Waters seems to be getting some [!@#$%^&*] done.
  4. If she doesn't follow your advice, Jane, she'll end up being a "one and done" Congresswoman.
  5. Nah. And you're right, Julia, it IS a Republican way of thinking. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even suggest it. But it looks as if the GOP wants to cut everything and leave it up to the rest of the country to keep it going. I simply can't figure out what else to do. It's either we keep organizations such as SO alive through donations and the like, or we watch as the GOP turns off its life support forever. Man, this government can really depress the hell out of you.
  6. Rose Nylund: "When the mask falls, it really makes a thud!"
  7. That's when methods such as fundraising and underwriting must kick in. You can't rely on the government anymore to subsidize worthwhile causes such as the Special Olympics. That much is clear.
  8. ICAM, DD. My immediate reaction: "Wait a minute -- she STAYED with the s.o.b.?" My second reaction (after reading the review): "He never actually molested any children? Yeah, right!" And therein, people, lies the problem (at least with me) with this story. Forget about her ill-advised decision not to dramatize any scenes with her husband. I don't give a damn about Corman's personal struggle, because I simply cannot fathom any wife and mother -- especially a wife and mother who was herself the victim of sexual harassment, as the review discloses -- allowing her children to remain with a man who indulged in his perverted fantasies online. I mean, what's to stop him from "graduating" to performing sexual acts on their kids (if he hasn't already)? I'm sorry, but she could've kept this bullshit to herself, instead of asking people to empathize with her in some ridiculous one-person stage ([!@#$%^&*])show.
  9. And all because Obama hurt his feelings.
  10. It says a lot when you can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Elizabeth Hubbard and Beverlee McKinsey and not vanish into the scenery.
  11. Same here. I forgive her, but I'll be damned if I'm going to feel sorry for her. Yep. The whole damn world knows and remembers the many, many times Roseanne pushed the boundaries of civility and good taste (among other things). There's a difference, though, between disrespecting the national anthem and calling a Black woman an ape (and no, she doesn't get a pass just by claiming she didn't know Valerie Jarrett was Black -- which I don't buy anyway, but I digress). That, along with the Hitler tweet, was indefensible and inexcusable. Point blank, period. Yes, in our society, every individual is entitled to express exactly what is on his or her mind, even if it disgusts everybody else to hear it. But, freedom of speech doesn't also mean freedom from consequences. If you compare an African-American to an ape on social media, then you damn well better expect there to be pushback. People who keep defending Roseanne (and others like her) need to remember that.
  12. In the words of Sammy Davis, Jr.: "don't do the crime, if you can't do the time."
  13. That's a shame (although I certainly understand leaving for the movie gig). I enjoyed watching Elliott, who seemed refreshingly natural and real as teenaged Billy.
  14. Next thing you know, Roseanne will be blaming SON, lol. But seriously. It's just too ridiculous how she refuses to accept responsibility and move on. It isn't as if getting dumped by the network has left her penniless. She could quit everything at this point, go back to her farm in Hawaii (or whatever) and spend the rest of her days in peace and comfort. Not everybody has that luxury, you know? So, what the hell is she still bitching about?
  15. Did they fire David Michael Elliott, or did he choose to leave?
  16. Could someone tell me more about the Lana story? I haven't heard or read much about that one.
  17. The truth is, the terrorists won, simply by striking fear and paranoia in the hearts of Americans -- fear and paranoia that has been a deciding factor in many of our actions post-9/11, up to and including our current administration.
  18. I know I've read somewhere that ABC was still using (I think) the last ten HW'ing teams' story projections for GH; that Marland read through them himself and realized immediately that they were godawful and had to be thrown out; and that he would've needed to start fresh if he ever hoped to improve the show.
  19. Call me a pessimist, but I really believe Brexit will end with the UK being kicked out without any deals in place. And if anyone thinks that won't create chaos down the road, then they're full of it. Yep. It's sad to think that it's come to this (Biden, of all people, as the candidate for bringing back the status quo), but...it's come to this, lol. I mean, Trump has become so awful that people have begun waxing nostalgic about the Nixon administration! Like, seriously?
  20. According to one article I've read, Marland was lured away from TD, because the daughter of ABC's then-VP of daytime, Jackie Smith, preferred watching TD over GH. When Smith asked her daughter why, she said it was because TD featured younger characters and had faster-moving storylines (compared to GH's).
  21. I had chickenpox when I was in the sixth grade. In fact, the school had to postpone awarding me my trophy for placing second in the school spelling bee because of it. Believe me, that was one of the worst weeks of my young life. Vaccinate your damn kids, people.
  22. It is shameful how ABC took away RH's time slot and handed it to a show (LOVING) that, in all honesty, never really stood a chance of succeeding at any time in their lineup. Bottom line: LOVING suffered constantly from lack of a strong identity, while RH had an identity that not even Joseph Hardy and Pat Falken Smith could diminish (despite their best efforts).
  23. The BTS shenanigans at DH were a soap opera unto itself, lol.
