Well, that's what I meant previously by lack of network affiliate clearances. Even today, I think, FOX doesn't have an actual daytime lineup the way ABC, CBS and NBC do. For the most part, their daypart is syndicated talk and courtroom shows, and cheap, local programming. For that matter, I don't think FOX isn't a late-night performer either (although, not for lack of trying), which really makes me wonder how a show like "13 Bourbon Street" would have performed, had FOX persuaded enough affiliates into carrying it.

Preach, (Black) Agnes! I've never bought into the "attention spans are getting shorter" nonsense. For the most part, I think viewers' attention spans are as strong as they've ever been. It's their patience with substandard writing, acting and directing that has worn thin. Otherwise, you could have just one, long scene per act in an episode, and audiences will be riveted if you give the actors more to do than just stand there, look pretty and spout recap and/or exposition.

I think network affiliate clearances, or lack thereof, had a lot to do with it.

All I can say is, when the Trump administration has to politicize even how the American public should or should not be informed about a frigging global pandemic, it really makes you wonder when or even if we'll emerge from this long nightmare.

Hardly anyone who was born here would sign up for that kind of work, under any circumstances, because they consider it "beneath them" and know they could make just as much (if not more) panhandling or living off the government dole. That's the result of generations being raised with the mindset that America is the greatest country on earth, with its' citizens being far superior to anyone else's.

This might sound racist, but it's true: legal or not, immigrants to this country will often work the jobs that most people who were born here won't; and contrary to what the current administration keeps telling everyone, they'll do the work, and they'll do it w/o asking for handouts (again, unlike America's own, home-grown, self-entitled citizens). Instead of doing everything in its' power to remove immigrants from this country, the GOP should've been courting them in order to expand their voting base. They could've made it impossible for the Democrats even to gain a toehold again if, instead of "Build! That! Wall!," they had encouraged immigrants to cross our borders, become citizens and join the Republican party with all sorts of rah-rah, "the American Dream is Alive and Well!" ads and speeches. IJS.

Meanwhile, panic over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic caused the biggest single-day drop in Dow history, as stocks fell close to 1200 points. But, you see, I doubt Bernie Sanders would choose a non-white VP, regardless of optics. Unless, that is, that non-white VP is the ghost of Donald DeFreeze.

If Bernie Sanders were smart, he'd snap up Elizabeth Warren right away to be his VP, as her presence on the ticket might be the only saving grace of having him as the Democratic nominee. I'm just saying.

I'd be curious as to what (if any) story projections they had written for OLTL and SOMERSET. They're listed among the Dobsons' papers; however, I don't recall their ever having written for either show.

At times, last night's debate among the Democratic candidates threatened to rival the infamous white supremacist free-for-all on "Geraldo" in its' tackiness. Although the criticisms lobbied against Bernie Sanders and Mike Bloomberg were certainly warranted, I'm afraid the entire night was a black eye on the 2020 Democratic primary overall. If it causes people who were on the proverbial fence to sit out the election or even vote (or vote again) for Donald Trump, I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Sigh. When. Will This. BE OVER.

Same. Joe Biden's campaign might rebound, but I'm afraid Elizabeth Warren is pretty much on her way out. And for God's sake, would Mike Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer just LEAVE already!? I watched more compelling "B"-stories with supporting cast members on JFP's OLTL! Chuck Todd.

Donald Trump and the rest of the GOP don't disdain science. They just exploit many others' ignorance of it to make more money. LOL! But seriously. I do believe Chasten and Pete Buttigieg's union will be done once Pete's silly campaign is finished. Voters need to realize like yesterday that this is not some damn game show where the objective is to acquire fabulous (and free!) games and prizes. This country was not built on the idea of people getting something (or everything) for nothing.

As I see it, Bernie Sanders is one who is delighted to be in this particular spotlight after being dismissed and ignored for so long. He's been jonesing for a socialist revolution forever; and now, with his followers and the polls at his side, he sees himself as being closer than ever toward making that revolution happen. Of course, even if, by some miracle, he were to WIN the election, he'll learn the hard way that revolutions don't come without a price. With this song playing in the background:

I guess I'd feel as proud, too, if I had taken a similar path toward commercial success and financial security. I can't fault Tyler Perry for reaching out and connecting with a demographic that Hollywood otherwise ignores. I think it's wonderful that he tells stories that his audiences want to see and hear, even as I question many of the religious, moral and ethical messages contained therein. However, it seems to me that three issues in particular keep Perry from achieving next-level greatness: 1) an inability to evolve in his chosen craft (which is amazing since common wisdom tell us that the more one writes, the better he/she becomes); 2) an inability to accept and process criticism of his work (whenever anyone questions the quality of or questions raised within his plays, movies or TV series, his usual, knee-jerk response is to tell the critic(s) to go to hell); and 3) an inability to use his success to help other, struggling playwrights and screenwriters of color fulfill their own dreams (a fault made all the more glaring by the fact that he recently built his own studio, it seems, to produce his own works exclusively). For someone who bases so much of his work on Judeo-Christian philosophy, Perry appears to have forgotten that, above all else, Jesus taught his disciples the value of humility and self-sacrifice in the name of lifting up others. Just as he doesn't seem to get that sitting down and writing some sort of "bible" for how he wants each season to go for this-or-that show would go a LONG way toward making all his shows more watchable. Part of the brilliance of shows like DALLAS and KNOTS LANDING was how, before each season began, the producers and story editors would sit down and decide the arc for each character for that season, so that each individual episode played like another chapter in a novel. Of course, you can't be rigid about your long-term projections, because what plays on the page doesn't always play on the stage. However, with a season bible, you (and your audience) would have some idea of what the show itself is building toward at various points in the season, something that is hardly ever clear on any of Perry's shows.
