  1. I don't either. We need to stick with Biden or we'll live to regret it soon enough, imo. This economy still befuddles me and I do think it's hurting Biden unfairly. We have what seems like a really good job market. I don't see what Biden could have differently to stop inflation. I didn't grow up in the middle class, so it's hard for me to relate to some of the things average people seem to feel entitled to. It's like the blue collar workers in 2016 vowing to vote Trump because they are only making $70,000 a year. Girl, wut? If you can't make it on $70,000 a year in the Rust Belt you need to think about your choices. Now people are going to sell out their neighbors because interest rates are too high to buy a new SUV every few years? Stop buying things you don't need and blaming Biden because servicing your debt is expensive! Yeah, I know I sound like a Boomer (I'm 50). Why does anyone think that man will help them? That's what I'll never understand.
  2. I wouldn't count on that. Maybe I sound like an alarmist, but I believe he is capable of rounding people up and putting them in death camps. He keeps Mein Kampf on his bed table. For the love of God, who does that?!! It's probably the only book he's read in the last 20 years. I truly believe Trump has anti social personality disorder. Whenever I hear conservatives worrying about our country changing, it just reminds me of how short sighted people really are. American culture will go on, until it doesn't, just like every other nation in the last 5,000 years. In 500 years, if America even exists it will be unrecognizable to all of us. We have no idea what's going to happen and ultimately it won't be our problem. Still people like Newt Gingrich try to hang on to some idealized version if America that never existed in the first place.
  3. Has it ever been on? I'm serious. He not only has been a loud and proud racist, misogynist and antisemite from the start, he's emboldened a lot of other people to show their true faces. Even if he wasn't going to try to overthrow democracy, four more years of his poison will be so damaging to our nation. It will take decades to recover if we ever do.
  4. That's for sure and not just in Europe. It's pretty shocking watching synagogues being splatter with blood and windows being broken. This time it's justified though. 🙃 Can Le Pen really win? I know we are way past the point of anything being shocking and have been since November 2016. But damn. I'm praying that Social Security is still the third rail.
  5. Thank you, Khan! I heart you forever too. Maybe we'll be lucky and women and the elderly(as Marceline mentioned) will come out against him. It's so obvious he wants to take their social security and Medicare. We'll be back to the 1930's with starving elders in the street if 45 is elected again.
  6. ^ I find that heart warming. I like it that Scottie refers to them as his grandsons as well. They missed a golden opportunity to put Cam with "good" Esme and then blow it up when she got her memory back.
  7. Do you think there isn't a problem with his cognition at all? I'm just curious on how you see it. I don't think it's ageism If the problem is real. I mean, of course the memes are awful and people making jokes are disgusting and ignorant. I do think the POTUS needs to be in top shape though. I can't pretend I'm not worried that Biden is slowing down. At the same time, it's not like there's an alternative. It boggles my mind that anyone wants to go back to the chaos of the Trump years. Here's another thing I find astounding. How on Earth are there undecided voters? It's not like we are choosing between Bush and Reagan. Either you're down for a racist dictatorship or you aren't. Pretty simple choice.
  8. Thanks Carl. I don't think either of these guys have dementia. It seems like normal cognitive decline to me, but what do I know? I'm not a doctor. Last night was bad though. When tried and true democrats like Maria Shriver is admitting there is an issue, I think there is. There is nothing in this world that would make me vote for Trump though. If I knew Biden had dementia, I would still vote for him. I would rather have someone with a good heart and a failing mind in office than a man who has shown us that he is pure, shameless evil. Two weeks ago I was blissfully unaware that Trump even had a chance. I really did just opt out for awhile. I do know that the far left is threatening to vote Trump again just to give the rest of us the finger. I'll never understand it.
  9. I agree. At the very least he has to earn back that right. Not sure how he's going to manage that with Cam gone. Does Laura consider all of Liz's children her grandchildren. It seems like she talks about Cam that way, but I'm not sure about Jake. Anyway, I'm glad Lucky is finally coming back. It's long past time.
  10. I don't know about ya'll but I am concerned. Deeply concerned. I don't even know what should happen. Should Biden step aside for Harris or is there too much misogyny for that to even be possible? Can he just hold on until November and then if something happens with his health she can take over. Anyway, I've missed posting with you all, but I've come down with an illness that leads to a lot of fatigue. I've been trying to stay away from politics for the sake of my physical and mental health. There's no way I can do that now though. I'll just go crazier if I don't know what's happening.
  11. Money and social stability to start with. The United States actually does pretty well because we have a long history of immigration. We take more than a million legally every year. Every society has a breaking point when it comes to the number of foreign born people it can handle. There is quite a bit of sociological evidence supporting that. Germany had a difficult time absorbing the million people they took during Angela Markel's tenure. Meanwhile, that wasn't a yearly occurrence and it was a close one. Remember all the sexual assaults and cover ups that happened during that time? That helped strengthen the far right. At the same time Germany needed people and in a generation or two it will probably be seen as a good decision. On the money front we either can't or won't help the vast numbers of poverty stricken immigrants coming in right now. We have a horrible housing crunch on our hands with not a lot of political will to address it. Despite what the Republicans say the U.S. is not generous with immigrants. We leave people to sink or swim. I find it ugly and cruel. Keeping asylum seekers from working is a horrible policy. The only people who benefit from that are MAGAs who like watching others suffer. Anyway, my point is we should be figuring out how many we can realistically take without it being a partisan issue, but we won't. Democrats will insist that the only issue is racism and Republicans cannot admit that we need more immigrants. So at best we'll end up with some political compromise that doesn't solve the problem. It's infuriating to me.
  12. I love that Biden called Trump a "sick f*ck". That made my day. I'm not so much worried about immigration as a presidential election issue. I'm more concerned about it on a policy level. We're on the edge of having the kind of demographic issues (aging population and falling below replacement numbers) that Japan and China are having. Meanwhile, a possible solution is knocking on our door (and freezing on our streets), but we are so polarized we can't have a rational national conversation about it. I would love one politician to just say something like "we need more people to work, have children and support our social security and medicare system or there will be serious consequences. At the same time we need realistic limits on immigration because societies can only absorb so many people before instability becomes an issue. We need experts to help us find the right balance and then we need political compromise to make it happen." I would pay to see someone in power say that, even if they did it on their way out the door.
  13. I didn't realize quite how bad the immigration situation on the border is until I read about the situation in Denver on CNN. I tend to block it out when the Republicans start talking about an "immigration crisis", but this time it really is. A crisis of their own making in some part. Greg Abbott is sending people to Denver in the freezing cold weather. What a heartless SOB. I understand that he wants to punish Blue leaders, cities and states, but isn't there a warmer place he could send people? The federal government needs to help these cities out before people start dying in the street.
  14. I really feel bad for Shannen. I'm sure she was a diva in her day, but that doesn't stop me from feeling for her. She has really been through it with the disease and her marriage.
  15. Me too! I quit cold after 30 years when they killed off Hillary. It was such a waste of a good character. Just last year I started binge watching on Amazon Prime, but I'm not longer a regular. Sadly they messed up Amanda, but I did love the scenes where she caught Abby and Devon. That was one of the best cheating confrontations I've ever seen on a soap. Amanda read that man for filth, which he had coming. I've always liked Devon. but he sure betray people at the worst possible moments in their lives.
  16. I thought this was a joke at first. Of course not, it's a matter of being a decent human. Being an assh*le is not against the law. 🤣 No one drags people quite like you Carl.
  17. It really annoys me that they are calling Biden Genocide Joe. It's such a disgusting and baseless smear. I couldn't dislike these people more than I do, but if I could interrupting a speech on abortion would do it. CNN has a report showing that over 60,000 rape victims have been forced to carry their pregnancies to term since Roe V. Wade was overturned. Just despicable.
  18. Because you have been watching soaps a good chunk of your life and you still hope they can be good again? That's why I'm still watching. Those ratings are shockingly bad though. I don't know how much longer any of these shows can limp along on network TV.
  19. You've always been an optimist on this topic. Now here we are 8 long years later and my prayers remain unanswered. He is declining mentally, but will it be fast enough? These are the days I wish I were part of a Coven. Maybe if we make a blood sacrifice Satan will finally call him home.
  20. The selfishness is breathtaking. They are so high on their self righteousness that they don't care about how many people they hurt. Not just their fellow Americans, but world wide. Personally, I wouldn't bet on what Trump will do on the Israel/Palestine issue. If he started talking about nuking Gaza once he gets in office, I wouldn't be shocked. If he decided to cut all funding to Israel and call for it's dismantling, I wouldn't be surprised at that either. The least surprising would be if he called for both outcomes in a 24 hour period. What I am sure of is he does not care about the horrific suffering happening or how to end it. These are the same fools that threw other people under the bus over student loans in 2016. Biden has done what he could on that issue too, but nothing is enough for some of them. I used to be much more sympathetic to Socialist Democrats, but the passive support for Trump slapped me out of that last time around.
  21. And she will soon enough. I was hoping one of these Republicans would be a buffer between Trump and the nomination, but they are falling faster and easier than the 2016 candidates. He didn't even deign to debate these poor bastards. So much depends on the health of two 80 year old men and the vagaries of the American public. It's terrifying.
  22. ^ I need to educate myself on what Iran and Russia are up to. I'm far from knowledgeable on the various motivations at play here. I've assumed that for Iran a lot of this is religious, while Russia must want oil, but I haven't read up on it yet. Just when I say Nikki Haley is sane she says this isn't a racist country. 😒 She can't really believe that. I hate it when politicians treat us like idiots.
  23. 🤣 It's so bad, I can't believe it's real. The look on both their faces is priceless. I think they are in almost as much pain as the audience.
  24. Good Lord. I guess we can look forward to this if Trump ever ends up in prison. Speaking of Pakistan, watching them trade airstrikes with Iran is terrifying. One nuclear power with the other right on the edge. We really are going to be lucky if there isn't a region wide war in the Middle East.
  25. ^ I was thinking something similar to Carl. NH would be a good choice in the sense that she can string a sentence together while sounding sane. At the same time she's a woman and a minority. I'm not sure which group he hates more. I think he'll pick a white man to show us he can. I think the things working against us are the economy and the southern border. The economy doesn't feel that bad to me, but everywhere I turn people are saying it's awful. The housing situation is bad with interest rates and such. The immigrant "crisis" is an easy way for the Republicans to fear-monger. I guess we just have to hope that Biden beat Trump once and he will do it again despite these issues. It's just surreal to me that this criminal is even in the race. Why God, why?!!
