  1. Promises, promises! I'm sure they will pick some crazy bastard though. Might as well.
  2. What's killing me here is that they already know!! There is no realization necessary. These Muslim leaders flat out said they know this could make things worse for their people in the short term. This is so reminiscent of 2016. What makes anyone think it will be only for the short term, I do not know. How did making things worse so they would get better go for the far left the last time? It's insane thinking, as far as I'm concerned. This! Wake up call dummies! A good chunk of the population loved what they got with Trump. They are salivating at the chance to get more of the same. Isn't it clear yet that some of these people don't care how much Trump hurts them as long as he hurts other people more? What makes them think we can turn things around if we go back down this dark path again? The arrogance is astonishing.
  3. I agree with you. The psychopaths in Congress see a golden opportunity to cut benefits and they are going to do everything they can to grab it. We need to be running ads to scare the hell out of people when it comes to losing benefits for the elderly. It's nothing but the truth. If the Democrats can't get public support for solutions to SS and medicare shortfalls, things are going to get ugly. Hell, I'd be running ads trying to wake up GenX and Millennials too. How many of these people are ready to live with their parents again or see them on the street? Government entitlements are all that is standing between many elderly people and abject poverty.
  4. These people really are bat [!@#$%^&*] crazy. I'm glad Kate Cox got the care she needs, but Texas showed us how extreme they are. What a bunch of religious fruitcakes. Now we have the woman in Ohio charged for having a miscarriage. I guess the cruelty is still the point. Is immigration a topic that can be addressed rationally in Europe or is it polarized like it is here in the US? Here it seems to be a zero sum argument, which is one of these reasons we seem unable to make the immigration system work better.
  5. This is really sad. I hope she heals in time.
  6. ^ George Takei is right, of course. What's interesting is that he and I are disappointed in the left for polar opposite reasons. He doesn't think the Democrats are supporting the Palestinians enough and I'm disgusted by the antisemitism I'm seeing on the left. Luckily, 2016 prepared me for this. Once we saw the extent that extreme racial hate was alive and well in this country, no one can be surprised when crazy amounts of Jew hate surface. It's interesting to see the Germans standing up to this issue, while the U.S. is just letting it happen. The Germans know how quickly this kind of hate can lead to utter destruction. Still, only a fool would go running to the Republicans or a third party over things that are happening in a different region of the world. I'm hoping it's only the people who live their lives on Tik Tok that are planning to throw everyone else under the bus over the ME conflict. You have to be practical and choose the best overall leaders, instead of going Susan Sarandon on us.
  7. Thank goodness for people like Pink, Le var Burton and P!nk. These book burners have gotten away with too much already insane. It's shocking that he has managed to stay in office as long as he has.
  8. ^ So much depends on an 81 year old man living another year. The saying "there are no atheists in foxholes" always annoyed me. Even when my son was crashing during birth I didn't pray, but you know what? I have started praying for Joe Biden. This poor man should be hanging out on Rohobeth Beach with his grandchildren. Meanwhile, he is stuck in an incredibly stressful job trying to save the free world from Trump. I cannot even imagine what four more years of Trump would do to this nation or the world. I want to believe that people are not this stupid, but I don't. I'm not sure they make an antidepressant strong enough to get me through another four years of that madman.
  9. I can't believe the Republicans are going to have a 4th debate? By all means keep making fools of yourselves. I can't stand to watch the debates, but I do enjoy the clips of their worst moments. Haley calling Ramaswamy scum was one for the books. Maybe since Trump saying that kind of thing is normal, but for me it just seems beneath anyone who wants to be president.
  10. He could also die. It's nice to see the Democrats have so many victories tonight. Ohio is a strange state politically. J.D. Vance gets elected, then we get a huge pro-choice victory. I don't understand it, but I'll take it. Virginia has really turned itself around since I went to college there in the 90's. That's another thing I'm happy to see, although I can hardly believe it tbh. Goes to show sometimes things do get better.
  11. Hi @VeeI hope you are doing well. Yeah, it's too soon to worry and we all know polls are not the be all end all. I just can't help thinking what a kick in the shins it would be if Nikki Haley ended up being the first woman President. She's not the worst of the Republicans, but she is anti choice. If the first woman president doesn't believe in a woman's right to bodily autonomy, I consider that a travesty. Anyway, I think many people are more focused on the upcoming holidays than politics at the juncture. We'll have a better idea what's going on in the new year.
  12. Am I wrong to think that Trump is going to prison and this won't matter, even if it is true? I just don't understand why Biden isn't more popular. Sure, he's made mistakes in the past, but he has been a good president. https://x.com/danpfeiffer/status/1721193408054870343?s=20
  13. Thank God. The lunatics on the right just keep going farther into Christofacisim in an effort to out crazy each other, while the Susan Sarandon's of this world keep vowing not to vote for Biden. The Squad and their ilk have no sense of proportion when it comes to the level of pain someone like Trump or even Nikki Haley can bring to the US and a good chunk of the world. We need people to come out and stop this madness. I did read that Mike Jordan's "son" wants nothing to do with him, but I would love to see an interview as well.
  14. Tyler will always be the definitive Nik in my book. Tyler played his scenes developing relationships with Laura and Lucky so well. He and Luke had an interesting dynamic over the years as well. I'm so sad that we've lost another soap vet to mental health and addiction issues. He was in distress for so long. I wish someone or something could have gotten through to him before it was too late.
  15. Unreal. They never fail to pick the worst of the worst. Mike Jordan also took in 14 year old boy when he was 25 and unmarried. All without court approval, of course. Totally normal, nothing to see there. Things feel more out of control by the day.
  16. ^ Oh yeah. The leaders are billionaires sitting in safety and luxury. Most of it stolen aid money, it's disgusting. I saw Khaled Mashel on Arabic TV and it was just chilling. He was talking about other countries that lost millions of people to get there land back. They don't care how many Palestinians die. The Israelis have vowed to hunt them down one by one like Black September no matter how long it takes. I hope it happens because the leaders are the ones that deserve to die. I actually have some sympathy for some of these boys who have been brainwashed since childhood, but its way too late for the ones that are already terrorists. Why have two million people been left to rot and radicalize in Gaza for decades? Does anyone really believe Israel will ever give that land up? It will never happen, but you have these groups in the west acting like "decolonization" 🙄 is possible. Do they even know that nearly 25% of the population of Israel is Arabic (of various religions, including Judiasim)? They have their own agendas and I don't believe they care about the lives actual Palestinians have to live. I don't see a lot of hope in this situation either. Radical Islam (Iran) will not allow a peace process. I'd say Iran has probably succeeded in radicalizing a good portion of Israeli society after these brutal murders, mass rapes and kidnappings. I don't agree that BiBi (he is awful and a criminal though) is a warmonger. He's been trying to avoid a ground war forever. We'll see if he has what it takes to finish it this time. By which I mean make a real dent in Hamas by going in there and rooting them out of their tunnels (while avoiding as many civilian casualties as possible). I won't be that surprised if he buckles.
  17. Why on earth is MM giving George Santos a platform? He's a straight up criminal! https://x.com/RepSantosNY03/status/1715106609716772864?s=20 That was a major fail on the side of the press. At the same time, this is going to be a bloody war and civilians are going to die. I can't imagine things going back to the status quo after Hamas tortured and killed so many Israelis. The two state solution is not going to happen. Iran is not going to allow it.
  18. Right? Any glee I feel at the GOP falling apart is tempered by my fear of who is going to pick up the pieces. Anytime I think things can't get worse in American politics, they do. The only source of hope I feel is that maybe independents are being turned off by the insane chaos that is the GOP. I will not rest easy until Biden is reelected. Whatever charges Trump is facing he's like the villain in a horror film. Nothing seems to bring is reign of terror to an end. Thank God that judge put a gag order on him. At least he has to STFU for awhile.
  19. The level of dysfunction in the GOP is truly unreal. Jim Jordan who was involved in Jan 6th as Speaker of the House? That they are even considering having this traitor as their leader is just nuts. Every day things just get more and more out of control.
  20. Well, Hamas certainly dropped the mask. Although to be fair they were always clear about wanting to slaughter every Jew from the river to the sea. This is the kind of deliberate atrocity that makes me horrified to be human. I mean, these humans decided to look baby humans in the eyes and decapitate them and/or burn them to death. Somehow it seems worse to acknowledge that they are raping the small children (and everyone else) they kidnapped into Gaza. Of course, while western antisemites are trying to deny and obfuscate this reality, Hamas does us the dubious favor of videoing these acts and uploading them to various social media. The less tech savvy antisemitism among us are still out there yelling "picture or it didn't happen." Oh, and Hamas is using people's phones to call their loved ones who get to listen to them scream while they are tortured. I've always thought right leaning Jew haters were the more dangerous, but the left is certainly challenging them for the title this week. The number of people on the left who were "happy to see Hamas bloody the nose of their oppressors" disgusts me. I took some satisfaction in watching some of them back track when they realized it was different this time and people were no longer buying that bullshit. Why are people so damn stupid? Then of course, we have a war going on in a place where the majority of the population are children. Where are the adults in this world? Not in our Congress that is for sure. Someone has got to open a humanitarian corridor immediately with an assurance that the people can come back after the war. If it isn't Egypt it has to be a path through Israel into Jordan. I feel Israel owes its enemies very little right now, but the rest of the world should be trying to help these poor innocent ones who still have a chance to live. Someone has got to open their door to the women and children before it is too late. I won't be holding my breath though.
  21. The DeSantis stuff is wild. He is such a bad candidate. Did you see where he said "we are going to start slitting throats from day one" speaking about federal employees. This guy is like Dexter without the charm. A day doesn't go by without me wishing good health to Joe Biden. Maybe Kamala could win. Hell, maybe she could get people excited even, but the alternative is so frightening. Joe just needs to hang in there another 18 months or so. As an almost 50 year old, I know this has to be taking a toll on him both mentally and physically. He and his family don't owe us his golden years. He's a hero in my book. This should be interesting. I wonder what kind of prison he would go to? I wonder if he would have an accident before he got there? Even if they put him in some sort of protective custody it seems dangerous to have a former president in a place where guards can get info from him and potentially sell it.
  22. A lot of people seem to think it was a mini stroke. It reminded me of early stage dementia (I'm not trying to be nasty). I had a patient tell a two minute story once and then stare of in to space for a min or so. He then told me the exact same story almost word for word with no idea of what he'd done. He didn't even have a diagnoses yet. I really dislike this guy, but I hope for his sake it was a mini stroke.
  23. Wow! I can't believe our good fortune. I never thought she'd come back for an extended stay.
  24. Damn Jane Elliott is still a beautiful woman. She looks amazing. The show is so much better when she's on I wish she could stay forever. Of course, she has more than earned her retirement.
  25. Ron Perlman has some strong opinions. Damn. Whichever executive made that comment about waiting to force workers out of their homes did unions a big favor in terms of public support.
