I'm pretty sure most viewers were just happy to have people they didn't hate onscreen. The Wildwind Chronicles youtube channel has been uploading a bunch of stuff from Maria's return and I'm surprised by how much I don't hate it. The story almost works in a bubble.

It's so funny to read someone calling other people old and sad after they've spent paragraphs defending the former star of a dead genre and can vividly describe news and rumors from 30 years ago.

Thank you for that detailed summary @will81! Before I read your commentary at the end I was going to replying how much I didn't like any of that. Sounds petty and like they didn't have much story to tell for either John or Jill so they threw them into whatever that was.

How and why did John and Jill remarry? How long did their second marriage last and why did they divorce this time?

Alex Donnelly was fired due to age-ism I've always thought. She and Susan Walters aren't that far apart in age but AD looked significantly older nonetheless.

GL's last few openings weren't just embarrassing for daytime, they were embarrassing for television period.

I gotta say, the fact that we're getting episodes from as far back as the early 80s shows that SOMEONE behind the scenes give a shite about the longtime fans of the show. Do I wish they put some of that care into the actual program? Absolutely but I have to give props when they're deserved. It's such a stark contrast GH and much of what B&B is doing. If this were GH we would have a best of Kyle and Lola week.

This is nice and all but SAY SOMETHING NEW. Use your words. Martin Luther King has been dead for 50 years, we have got to stop whipping out this speech every time there's racial upheaval in this country. Not that they're doing it in this case but I constantly see MLK weaponized to shut black people up and I'm tired of it.

Good lord young Vincent Irizzary looks like a Greek statue come to life. During Billy and Vanessa's party they're playing orchestral versions of "Yesterday" and "Just The Way You Are", they sound so pretty. I had no idea that there was a Lewis...sister?! Did she ever show up in the last decade? I only started watching in '99 and do not remember her.

Noah and Julia were so beautiful together. Great chemistry here between both couples, you don't get the level of casual genuine affection N&J were showing to each other these days.

Y&R did a similar story in the 80s, a black man infiltrated I want to say the mob? It looked that old SNL skit with Eddie Murphy. I'm curious about how they made her look white, I wonder if there are any clips out there.

Can anyone tell me more about Taylor (Roxbury Cannon) and her undercover mission as a white woman in some racist organization? I can't believe daytime did this story more than once...did they just want an excuse to hire light skin actors? It seems like she started as vixen and then they just made her a crazy lady after Ingrid Rogers left (?).

Ha! That was a treat, thanks for sharing. I don't recall Bo and Cassie interacting much at all when I was a kid, their relationship was certainly never brought up. It seems very weird but Cassie seems like one of those characters with a very fluid age. Kevin is a kid here but in a few years they'll be love interests and played as contemporaries.

I wonder what, other than Brad's short attention span, prompted them to have Brooke so immediately go after Ridge. I'm not kidding, it's literally the same episode. She even slyly tells Thorne (within MINUTES of signing the annulment papers) she's going to and says it might hypothetically be good for the company. That is the most whiplashiest writing I've ever seen.

Brooke signed her annulment papers from Thorne in the morning and by the afternoon she was already trying to seduce Ridge. God, what a ho.

I could definitely see Sweeney as MTS's daughter. Could never see Jennifer Gareis as Victoria, she doesn't have the gravitas the character needs.

The show at least knew quite quickly she was a miscast, she lasted exactly one cycle.

I'm usually PB's biggest defender but I think he's actually terrible in that scene and the dialogue is so on the nose...it doesn't feel like anything an actual human would say. Maybe the voters were distracted by his luscious hair. MTS, who I think is a mediocre actor at best, is a lot more impressive there. Where was Cricket meant to be during the school year? Did they bother to explain?
