  1. He didn't sound too crazy about her. I wonder why
  2. Nothing will ever be as bad as Ben's redemption lol. I think Kevin was the only character that was sacrificed in order to prop Carl, but he was always written as a little unscrupulous so I don't think it was much of a surprise when he was written out as a part of Carl's redemption. I will admit though that AW did take it to the extreme by having a woman fall in love with the man who tried to kill her, more than once. But everybody's performances in the storyline made it worth watching.
  3. You're right. The character of Brittany was written by three different writing regimes and each one practically completely changed the character.
  4. Actually, she did have a brief story in the months leading up to her death when Cecile tried to steal Cass away from Frankie by claiming that Cass' was Maggie's father. But the story wasn't that well written. The original plan was for Donna to be killed off, but fan outrage is what saved her. And yes, Brooklyn, especially the neighborhood that the studio was located in, is definitely another world of its own.
  5. I love when AW actors talk about how filming in Brooklyn was part of the reason why the cast was able to bond so well. I know the neighborhood where the studio was. It's safe but there is literally nothing do to and nowhere to go. There was a store around the corner from the studio and a pizzeria and that was about it. Actually, my mom swears to this day that some of the props that we saw onscreen were bought at that store.
  6. Speaking of Marnie, how is she doing? Any updates on her condition?
  7. IMO, that's the way it should be done. Marland was a genius. If I was a professional soap writer, I would do the same thing. Jean didn't do that, or Goutman (or P&G) didn't allow that and it ruined the show. Same could be said for AW and GL. I still find what P&G did unbelievable. Clearly they didn't want to be in the soap business anymore, but why they chose to wreck their shows to get them cancelled rather than just sell them, I will never understand
  8. You’re right. That seemed to be the biggest flaw in ATWT’s final years. Storylines lasted only like a month and there was practically no buildup, no aftermath, no segue into another story, etc. Soaps aren’t supposed to be like that, for the most part. Look at when Bob and Kim got sick. Bob had a mass on his brain and needed surgery and Kim got so upset about it, she had a heart attack. They made the one joke about “his and her hospital rooms” and then the next time you saw them, they were both perfectly fine as though nothing had happened.
  9. Not sure why he was brought back to AW, but after RKK was fired from DAYS, I guess he moved back to NYC and landed the role. The rumor was that Alice Barrett was fired so that the show could pay his salary. The role of Sam was recast twice after RKK left. After he and Amanda remarried, it was discovered that Sam actually could sing. He became a singing star and when Amanda refused to accompany him on the road, they divorced. Sam was never seen again after that.
  10. She must have been the ultimate sweet talker. That’s gotta be the only way that she was hired so many times.
  11. IMO, out of the all the writers who’s work I’ve seen in real time, Jean was the worst. ATWT was the only soap I ever stopped watching. Admittedly, the only reason I started watching was because I had a little crush on Van Hansis lol but I feel I wouldn’t have turned it off had the writing been better. Her GH was a mess too
  12. @Toups @All My Shadows Hell in the Closet was in 2001. Charity was taken to Hell in February and didn't get out until May
  13. I’ll never understand how he thought he would have been able to do that. Even the greats struggled with writing two soaps at the same time. It had to be Passions. Charity was only supposed to be trapped in Hell for like one day, but in real time, it was over three months. And I know that final night in LA lasted like three months too. When the day began, it was summertime but by the time it ended, characters were preparing for Thanksgiving
  14. Ugh Jean. I’ll tune in just to see how she justifies all her lousy writing
  15. Count me in on that too. I thought 2000-2002 were great years for Passions. It only started to really go downhill once Reilly started writing DAYS again
  16. I don’t think so. I know Rebecca fired her at one point, but even when Theresa was Alistair’s wife, I think Pilar still worked there
  17. She also had a brief fling with Cass after Nicole was sent to the mental institution. She was the one who always called Frankie “Frank”
  18. You're in my thoughts @amybrickwallace Hoping for the best
  19. Ugh I hated Gwen Can you imagine how many takes it took for Lindsay Hartley to get that line right?
  20. Corinne Jacker - Worst Head Writer AW ever had. I'd love to know what was going on BTS at this time. Was Paul Rauch fired after all those years or did he leave on his own?
  21. Absolutely amazing! Thank you @vetsoapfan
  22. Yeah, he does. Probably the only reason why though was because of the ratings spike.
