A Mary Sue is a character who can never lose. In some cases, they are someone who appears to have no flaws and/or are universally beloved. This makes it even more frustrating when a character like Leo gets such treatment.

For heaven's sake, the episode literally begins with Nancy offering Chris and Grandpa some coffee. How much more quintessential can it be?

As for Edward's appraisal, which I have no trouble imagining, either, the best case scenario would be his and/or Tracy pretending those words were spoken out of realism as opposed to cruelty.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find when Falcon Crest ended production for 1988-89. Susan's last episode was the 1989 season premiere. She might have been tied to a contract with CBS and/or Lorimar until the season finale and/or her last episode aired.

I've been working my way through the end of Season 2 and start of Season 3. The ending of "Secrets," with Richard & Laura alone on their back porch, together in only the physical sense, is just chilling. Also, I found myself wondering if Lilimae was going to repurpose the bouquet that wasn't in "The Surprise." She seemed unnaturally fixated on it, like she was going to turn it into potpourri, or an accessory to her dress.

I almost mentioned her, but I wasn't sure what her current feelings are about GH/daytime. Lorena would be awesome. So many missed opportunities with her. And I really, really like the idea of the character whose life improved thanks to Monica.

I debated posting this, and ultimately decided on this thread as opposed to the January one or the LC memorial. My apologies if it's already been discussed, or if it's too tacky. Besides Denise Alexander, who would you want back for Monica's memorial episode? If Jennifer Guthrie has any interest, I wouldn't mind a visit from Dawn's angel.

The difference with that, though, is that Betty just did cameos, as opposed to impacting the storyline. The AW one is especially funny, since she obviously didn't go to Brooklyn. They just inserted footage of Betty on the phone with Mac. One bright side of the Donatella Stewart storyline, seeing Lynn Herring and Louise Sorel interact again.

I initially thought Barnard and Elizabeth acted together in Neil Simon's The Good Doctor, but that was Frances Sternhagen. ETA: I wrote too soon. Barnard and Elizabeth acted together in Sheep on the Runway, Uncle Vanya, and decades later in Waiting in the Wings.

Ha! Turning to other Leslie projects from this era, maybe one of the retro-rare-obscure YouTube channels will turn up either of her failed sitcom pilots. Another April, for CBS from 1974, where she was a divorced liberal mother moving back in with conservative parents Barnard Hughes and Elizabeth Wilson. Featuring a pre-fame Howard Hesseman. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, for ABC in 1975, in the Katharine Houghton role. Bill Overton played Sidney Poitier's role, followed by Richard Dysart and Eleanor Powell in the Tracy & Hepburn roles, Madge Sinclair & Lee Weaver in Beah Richards and Roy Glenn's roles, and Rosetta LeNoire in Isabel Sanford's role.
