I totally agree with that, which is why I mentioned it at the top of the page re: not loving the optics of pairing [redacted] with Nicole or whoever right away given recent circumstances. I've commented on it a few times over in the last several weeks whenever we've discussed the possible casting of a white star. That being said, I'm not going to say no to a popular (and scorching hot) white soap star joining the show. It's a tricky thing.

They know Amber is unlikely to do a cameo as Emily's ghost or make a brief return alive during some anniversary event so you can say the character is 'back' and then put her on a shelf offscreen til needed (though I'd still ask, AT has visited the studio in recent years) so they go to Natalia, and she's reprised the role a couple times as a ghost. But yes, I think usage is why no photo. Still, I very much appreciated them going only with Amber for the Monica montage, including multiple clips of Amber's Emily having dialogue which surprised me. I would still bring Emily back from the dead at some point with whoever I could get (as long as it's not Natalia), but hey.

Maurice hasn't tried to compete with most people in a long time. He simply doesn't have the energy or bandwidth for it anymore. I do think Vanessa or Sarah Brown are among the few who could wake him up, simply by the nature of their force of energy. That being said, I do think he was as engaged and respectful with Erika as he gets these days. You could tell he cared.

I've not even seen it but I just know Jacob is ready to have that same hapless look on his face he gets with Marcel or his dad (Evil Overton) when he finds out Naomi's not into this.

I don't think they knew how prominent the Vanessa story would end up becoming tbh. She is still relatively supporting to the Dupree canvas. But I do agree she needs a set.

Putting aside the Ashley story vortex I think it's been a remarkably strong week, dialogue-wise and vis a vis family interactions. The breakdowns seem to be moving differently too - the way stuff flowed with the confrontations at the club with Nicole and Ted, Anita reacting to Dani and Andre, etc. I do think Dani and Bill will be back together in 6-9 months, if not by the new year. They're still just scorching.

My biggest fear. But I have doubts they'll go there as Ol' Sammy has been explicitly established as 15-16.

Allegedly LB also had issues with him. I know she was very unhappy Kevin Stapleton was let go, but I seem to recall hearing it was more than that.

And yet, the repeats (which have to do with the initial order of episodes) have done pretty well.

It was so random. And I do think MG deserves better writing, but I'm not sure she can rise to it. At this point I'd be tempted to recast Hayley or find a stronger obstacle. I'm not sure Hayley is gonna be it.

I just don't care about Hayley that much. On paper she could've been more than they ever did with her, but MG is weak or uneven at best and the character is even more poorly written. Could they change that, sure. But right now I am focused on the heat and sheer force of talent between Dani and Bill as well as the chemistry between Andre and Dani.

I'm the only one that likes Pamela's wacky ass! I think they need more of her, but I will acknowledge she's turned off many lol. And she used to be redundant in some ways vs. Vanessa, but Vanessa has darkened considerably vs. being a straight-up Lucy Coe comic analogue early on. I don't know that we know enough about Doug and Vanessa's parenting to make that call. I do think Jan is a key role where, again, a seasoned soap vet like Cady or someone else could've shone right now (just as with Peaches or Sharon) - especially if Jan turns out to be Joey's ex. Donnell is very good, even with that Nickelodeon 2000s shag haircut. Instantly more compelling than Ol' Sammy or Tyrell. I feel bad dogging Samantha bc she's genuinely a good actress, but her age has become downright distracting especially as they've started putting her in some Raggedy Ann pigtails to try to make it work.
