  1. I think she was also offered a considerable pay raise if she defected to AMC. Lo and behold, it was her screen partner and a relative unknown, who completely outshone her (JD Martinez).
  2. Really? I didn't know that they used the name Buchanan as an homage to OLTL. Very cool.
  3. Thanks for your replies, everyone. Pine Valley sure seemed like a hoppin' place back in the day.
  4. She might have been better off as an associate producer on a different soap, maybe on OLTL or AMC when the latter was still made in NYC. Of course, I think her kids were grown by that point so she could have relocated to LA if she wanted to. Has she done any TV work since GL ended or has she faded into obscurity? I haven't heard anything about what she might be up to these days. Even though her marriage to Tom Eplin was short-lived, I know they stayed good friends and were able to work together again later both on-screen in the final months of AW and she was working offscreen as a director on ATWT when he reprised Jake McKinnon on that show. I wonder if they still keep in touch now.
  5. The Chicken Shack? Is that how Tad came to be dressed in a chicken suit when he proposed to Dixie?
  6. I think I'll always remember Eileen Heckart best for The Five Mrs. Buchanans, the short-lived 1994-95 CBS sitcom where she was the matriarch who despised the wives of all four of her sons and the feeling was mutual. She just had that acid wit. Her Mrs. Buchanan was like a white Mother Jefferson, who was always insulting Weezy.
  7. Yeah, but since Frons eventually took over Soapnet, it's probably for the best that a RH continuation didn't happen. He surely would have desecrated it.
  8. Thank you both for your thoughtful responses. YRBB, I look forward to hearing more from you as you go through S2.
  9. What were your own personal favorite hangouts in Pine Valley?
  10. Does anyone think Ellen Wheeler could have worked better at the helm of a different soap? Obviously GL was not a happy environment in its past decade or so.
  11. I don't think it ever went past much other than talk.
  12. How long did Marty West last on GL?
  13. She was larger than life!!! I also remember her guest spot on L&O in 1992 as a defense attorney who butts heads with Michael Moriarty's EADA Ben Stone. That was the same episode where Jerry Orbach made his debut as Det. Lennie Briscoe. Those were the days, my friends!!!
  14. Thank you, robbwolff. I imagine a reboot would have gone over like a lead balloon.
  15. Yup, and they all put on totally innocent faces. LOL
  16. In the show's final year, who did you think were the show's strongest performers? What did you think were the strongest stories? They didn't have a lot of time to wrap things up, did they? Wasn't the cancellation notice from CBS handed down to them just weeks before they filmed the last episode?
  17. How long did The Goal Post restaurant last?
  18. Thank you for the TLW info, YRfan23!!
  19. Does anyone know why Billy Moses didn't stay for FC's entire run? Was it his choice to leave or was he let go?
  20. Sharon Gabet has posted many of her own BTS photos of her time on EON on her FB page. They are all delightful, especially one where she and several of the show's males are all lounging around on one bed during a break. (Larkin Malloy is seated at her left holding up an issue of Playgirl that belonged to Sharon. LOL!!)
  21. I think it was 1990 or so. Opal somehow got locked inside the Martin attic and found a skeleton wearing a cap with the name "Bobby" stitched onto the front, and a pair of skis was right next to the skeleton. I think it was just done as an in-joke to longtime AMC viewers, and to have fun with the urban legend of Bobby Martin.
  22. Thanks for answering. They found a skeleton, but on soaps, that doesn't mean you're dead!!! *maniacal laughter*
  23. The interview with Cristina Raines was very interesting and spanned many different appearances. I never knew that she and Morgan Fairchild's mutual onscreen dislike spilled over offscreen as well, or that she dated Mark Harmon for several years. I guess one really does learn something new every day!!
