  1. I mean, who doesn't miss the shoulder pads big enough to fit on an NFL player and all the sequins, glitter, and (GASP) real furs?
  2. Thanks!! That is indeed a wonderful find.
  3. Thank goodness it didn't take long at all for David Canary to find the perfect role(s) for him after his AW stint. I think he got AMC the same year he got cut from AW...and the rest is history.
  4. I'm sure they had to know it was a strong possibility.
  5. I love this show and Carolee Campbell's cheerfulness and humor is a welcome break from the Althea/Nick/Liz drama. Loved her first meeting with Steve!! I can't wait until he begins to get more screen time.
  6. Kelly Wood's character was the birth mother of Eric, right? Then she died and it was up to Scott and Kathy to raise him?
  7. Here is a 1976 review of a musical version of Gone With the Wind, starring Sherry Mathis as Scarlett and a pre-AMC David Canary as Rhett: http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2206&dat=19760721&id=U2MzAAAAIBAJ&sjid=aOoFAAAAIBAJ&pg=652,263800
  8. I remember her - so sorry to hear. May she RIP.
  9. I found the story of Althea's pregnancy and the morals clause fascinating. I wanted to know more about it and didn't have to go further than the living room to find out from someone who would know firsthand. My mother is a retired RN. She graduated from nursing school (a Lutheran nursing school) in 1964, worked for a couple of years and by 1967 (when these episodes were airing) went back to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland for post-graduate studies. I asked her about the morality clause. She said that yes - the nurses and the nurses-in-training had to be above reproach, couldn't be pregnant when unmarried and were not allowed to date doctors - interns or residents. She said that the medical community at large was very strict about the morals clause. Mom also said that she's not sure when the morals clause fell by the boards because she spent the majority of her nursing career in home health care. She didn't work in a hospital or doctor's office once she was done with her training - though she worked one year as a school nurse at an elementary school, and often went to clinics to give flu shots and such. Anyway, just thought I'd give you the firsthand word of someone in the medical field who was in nursing at the time of this show and who knew about the morals clause.
  10. I don't know how true that is, either, but Nic Coster once said on FB that he and Considine were both the pranksters of AW, and that they would sometimes get it from Rauch. Coster likened it to being sent to the principal's office!!
  11. I never knew they had starred in a project before he came to AMC. Nice find.
  12. Haven't seen it yet - but I will soon. These episodes are real treats!!
  13. That's a shame. I like those pictures - she certainly was following the style trends of the day, with the long straight hair and the Gloria Steinem aviator glasses. I can see why they hired Barbara Stanger to replace Donna Mills as Laura. The resemblance is uncanny.
  14. Fascinating interview, and thank you for posting it. He was very good friends with Paul Newman. In the AW Trivia Book by Gerry Waggett, there is an anecdote about the two hanging out at a racetrack while Considine was playing Reginald Love in the 80s. A fan of the show walked up to them (apparently not noticing or recognizing Newman) and yelled, "Hey Reginald, you creep!!", which Newman found extremely funny. LOL I never knew he suffered from epilepsy. God bless him. Ironic about the last sentence - about AW fans not needing a fourth major shock after losing George Reinholt, Virginia Dwyer and Susan Sullivan. The biggest one was looming right then!!
  15. Jacquie Courtney and Lara Parker did have a rather striking physical similarity, now that I think of it. Plus, it might have been interesting to see Parker as the good girl after her years as the evil Angelique. Leslie Charleson, I just don't see it. Not that she's not a good actress, but I just can't imagine her as Alice.
  16. You're right, I had forgotten about Rituals. Thanks.
  17. I should have guessed all this was over a music licensing issue. Though while the theme music is certainly beautiful and lush, it doesn't really stand out as something that would be causing trouble for episodes made 47 years ago!! If it was contemporary pop music of the day, I could see that. In any case, let's hope this puts the issue to bed at last and we can enjoy the episodes!!
  18. Cathy Hicks would have been an interesting choice but probably too young. Jacquie originated the role, was on the show from its inception and just had that certain something. They probably should have just given Steve and Alice that happy ending and had them ride off into the sunset in 1975, in hindsight. Thanks in advance for posting the articles.
  19. If you look closely at the episode where Althea talks in her therapy session about her father, you'll see a boom mike in the shot. Another sign of the times, I guess. It was cut and print because you didn't have it in the budget to do it over again or edit it out.
  20. I hope he is OK!!
  21. No one did spoofs better than Carol!!!
  22. She really did work her way up. Did she ever work in soaps again after that?
  23. Thanks for sharing that link. She looks great!
