GH: April 2024 Discussion Thread
There was a throwaway line when Natalia mentioned keeping the personal stuff private (actually a good boundary, even if her motivations aren't pure) that IMO is going to come back. She said "it doesn't have to be in writing or anything..." so I think eventually Blaze is going to decide to come out in the publicity materials and Natalia will object but the answer will be "sorry, it's not in the contract."

Dominick Zamprogna did a great job Friday. Great acting with just small movements. I really liked the gesture where he nudged Danny to come over to him after Rocco, implying he sees him as a son too, and then they did the little fist bump. That was really sweet. Those are the little moments that make soaps worthwhile for me.

And Leo's biodad, but that doesn't seem to be acknowledged despite recent closeness between Olivia and Sam. What about Dante and Lulu's kids? Just Rocco? And Violet is Lulu and Valentin? I know the first kid Maxie was supposed to birth for them turned out to be George (Maxie and Spinelli) but wasn't there another embryo that Britt stole? Or was that Violet, lol.

ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
This is (was) the site you're referring to: http://www.feuxdelamour.com/v4/index.php?title=La_musique_de_fond It's empty now, but I played around with the wayback machine and found some older versions with a list of cues, but the music cues don't play. I'm posting it because maybe somebody else can figure it out and share here. Also, there are quite a few Y&R music cues in the Y&R Vault (link in the description: https://twitter.com/yrvault?lang=en You might be able to cross-reference those against that website. As far as that specific cue, I don't think it's on any of the official CDs so most likely only TV rips would be available and that might be the best you can get. Another option is to ask this guy: https://twitter.com/YnRMusicMike/

B&B: March 2024 Discussion Thread
I didn't watch yet but the other day when Steffy was berating hope about Brooke yet again, it made me think how would Steffy like if it someone did that to Kelly about Steffy? It's so gross.

B&B: March 2024 Discussion Thread
I'd like to see her go to therapy to understand how her conception and her mother's past have made her romanticize the idea of taking a walk on the wild side, and realize that giving into her lust for an abuser was dangerous, and that what she and Thomas have is codependency, not love. I'd like to see her obtain full custody of both children and sue Forrester for creating a hostile work environment and take a big piece of the company, similar to Brooke's Belief lawsuit.

This storyline is honestly more disgusting than the Luna one.

That was me! This would be a great way to track all these notes people are writing in here about glitchy videos, no sound, etc. Someone had also mentioned another site was now showing the show from the beginning again, which could be an opportunity to capture episodes in a better quality or with subtitles turned off since that wasn't an option when it started. Big thanks

During the pandemic there were tons of mistakes from CBS when it came to Y&R (I didn't pay as much attention to B&B). Wrong episode numbers, wrong season numbers (not even internally consistent, so you'd have an episode from six months prior be labelled as the next "season"), wrong dates (off by as much as 10 months!). I'm guessing these have been incorrect for a long time and they are just uploading what they have without double checking it.

I can't see them axing B&B for this. Whatever you want to say about B&B, it's a known entity. They know what to expect in terms of the ratings and the budget and streaming. It's consistent. A new soap hasn't been launched since 1999, and a successful new soap hasn't launched since... B&B itself in 1987. And that was largely off the power of Bill Bell and Y&R, and it still took several years to establish itself. I wish The Gates all the success, but going by history, it's not going to start with strong ratings. It's going to be start off lower than B&B's current ratings, I'm pretty sure, and it might even get cancelled, and then they will have cancelled B&B for nothing. That doesn't make sense for a network that is investing in soaps. What I could see happening is splitting up Y&R and B&B to give The Gates a stronger lead in, which will hurt B&B initially, on the premise that if The Gates doesn't work out, they can shift B&B back to its old slot. I am also wondering to what extent they will try to use crossovers to give the new show a boost. If the show is about a rich family, they could say they have business dealings with Victor Newman or the Forresters, just to get people to sample the show, or do a crossover with the African-American characters involved with Chancellor-Winters. It wouldn't be unprecedented. It was rare for the CBS P&G and Bell shows to cross-over, but Michael Baldwin did it. I would rather that The Gates start out as its own thing with its own stories, but I could see them doing a crossover 6 months to a year in if the ratings are lagging.

Y&R: March 2024 Discussion Thread
I just watched the intro of today's show with the CGI fire. At this point it's like shame on me for even watching this dreck. This is sad. Even sadder is that I'm almost impressed they did this instead of just saying it happened offscreen. I swear they should just transition to radio at this point.

Thanks @Toups Here I was thinking "in development" meant a Bible was written. But MVJ only just announced her departure from B&B, so she clearly hasn't been at the point Reilly mentions where he goes on salary. It sounds like he wrote the Bible and outlines as independent contractor... but MVJ's B&B contract may preclude her working on projects like a competing soap? So they may be only starting to write the Bible just now, but there must have been some kind of pitch, if not a full Bible?

I don't want to get this thread too off topic, but, yeah. I thought that the incredibly apparent DGAF budget at Y&R in particular was a sign of not wanting to invest in soaps because they see no potential for the audience to grow and just want to hold on to the share they have without losing too much audience. Now CBS has a new soap in development, so they do believe an audience can be grown. And this show will have to put some money into sets and production. It's typical for newer soaps to do some location filming and do some visually interesting things to set the tone, so, I don't know, it will be weird to have a splashy new show airing after Y&R which consists of characters walking back and forth between two sets drinking from empty cups and B&B with its 35 year old sets... because I think and hope that the new show is going to have energy. It's all very speculative, of course.
