  1. OMG. What a sad case of life imitating art. That's shocking. I really liked him.
  2. The offscreen party at Coney Island was so Y&R!
  3. They flirted and kissed about 10 years ago. Can't really see her wanting a get more involved with anyone connected to Phyllis though.
  4. Oh wow, it's great to see KKL and SF together but of course it makes me wish SF were still on the show. She looks the same as she did then!
  5. Thank you @janea4old for compiling all this. It's fun to scroll though.
  6. Nice! That's 2/28/03. I've warned the poster to take Y&R out of the title, lol.
  7. It's so funny that the photo accompanying the Deadline article is Christine doing a trial in a rather nice courtroom set that we'd never see today. And a big reason why they can't afford sets like that is because they are top heavy with salaries for pointless executives like Steve Kent, which will now have to be 100% absorbed by Y&R and probably with a nice raise!
  8. Eric Braden's Michael Fairman interview (video/text) https://michaelfairmantv.com/the-young-and-the-restless-eric-braeden-interview-lead-actor-daytime-emmy-nomination-20-years-victor-newman/2024/04/29/ His reel is "some scenes with Adam." I wish they would ask their publicists for episode numbers instead of asking the actors. Braeden says when he won in the 90s, he was not at the show because he was doing a Shakespeare play. His last nomination was in 2004 and he hasn't submitted his name in over 10 years. He's excited about this nomination and even sent the announcement to his brothers in Germany. He says the reason he submitted this year was due to changes in the voting process that he's long advocated for, that "opened up" the process of the voting panel. Does anyone know more about this? Did it used to be that daytime actors judged the reels, and now it's all SAG-AFTRA members?
  9. Kind of funny to see some callbacks to classic Y&R last week with Harrison calling Jordan a witch and Victor's bomb shelter dungeon still intact, haha. I've been laughing at all of the things Jordan "no last name" is being called. Lots of actors have picked up on EB's way of saying "that Jordan woman." Even Phyllis and Daniel said it. This week Victor switched to "that Jordan broad." Nikki called her a beast, and Harrison called her a witch. Jack simply called her "the Jordan" a la "the Donald" (assuming PB missed a word there, even though he's the self-proclaimed master of rote memorization).
  10. If that display counted as mental illness then what about Phyllis? She goes down to that lounge and does that all the time, even takes her clothes and hair extensions off, too...
  11. RIP! After being on and off for so many years, so glad she got to do that last big storyline, then retire on her terms. ❤️ Here are some of the videos from her retirement:
  12. I'm sorry if this is obvious, but what is NTY? And congrats!
  13. Responding to @janea4old's post from the April 2024 post here to add additional context. Yup, they had it declared a historical site so Christine could stop the sale and save the tenants. I found a detailed recap on Usenet. Unfortunately, this October 13, 1993 episode is not online AFAIK, and this doesn't give all the details of Kay's testimony. An SOD recap from October 1993 does say that "Cricket discovers that Civil War Hero Garfield Dandrige Chancellor is the man responsible for drawing up the first city charter. He also commissioned a world-renowned architect to build Rainbow Gardens. She attempts to have the building declared an historic monument." I enjoyed the color commentary from the recapper... all the sneers, the snits... like it's a television show, where they show things, and it's... entertaining! I can totally picture Jeanne delivering that line "I am Katherine CHANCELLOR Sterling." (wonder why none of this was mentioned at the recent "Bicentennial" LOL) https://groups.google.com/g/rec.arts.tv.soaps/c/-14H6Y4EGr0/m/Tn1rMTvZiRIJ COURTROOM Court is now in session. The judge has Cricket state her case. She states that she is trying to stop the destruction of a building that is most likely a historical landmark and that she is seeking an injunction to prevent its destruction. The judge asks if it has been declared a landmark by the state historical landmark people. Cricket tells the judge that the facts which would establish it as a landmark have just been discovered. Chang, Hodgekin's scumbag lawyer, thinks that Cricket is making an outrageous attempt to stop a legal sale, and that this Katherine Sterling person, whoever she is, has no interest in this matter and is a fictitious plaintiff. Katherine stands up, introduces herself to the judge, saying, "I am Katherine Sterling... Katherine CHANCELLOR Sterling... and I assure you that I have a deep and abiding interest in this building, as should every bright and right thinking citizen in Genoa City." Hodgekins shoots a very nasty look in her direction. COURTROOM Cricket calls Katherine as her first witness. She takes the stand and is sworn in. Cricket enters a book belonging to Katherine as Plaintiff's Exhibit #1. The judge asks for a general description of the book, but Chang interrupts and asks what bearing an old book can have on anything. The judge asks to see it, flips through it, and tells Chang that he is right about one thing... it is a very old book. He tells Cricket to proceed. Howard Hodgekins sneers at her; Danny watches from the rear of the courtroom.... COURTROOM Cricket asks Katherine what the book is. She says it is the Chancellor family Bible. It belonged to Phillip Chancellor. It was given to him by his father, who received it from his father. She stated that Phillip was the grandson of Garfield Chancellor, who was a decorated Union general. Garfield took up residence in Genoa City before it was even called Genoa City. He had a dry good store before he built Rainbow Gardens. Rainbow Gardens was mentioned by name in the family Bible, and it is the same Rainbow Gardens which is the subject of the petition. She tells that some of the things of historical significance that happened there include the first mayor living there, the city charter being signed there, and several prominent families living there. She stated that the building was sold during the Great Depression, and that she is disgusted with the current disgraceful state of the building. Chang does not want to cross-examine her or offer evidence. The judge excuses Katherine. He asks Cricket how long it will take the Historical Commission to make a decision, and what the action might be. She refers the question to what's-his-name from the commission. He thinks that an emergency decision can be made within thirty days, and although he hesitates to speak for the rest of the board, he thinks that the building will be declared a landmark. Howard Hodgekins bursts out in anger, stating that the Landmark dude is blowing his deal. Hodgekins asks how he is supposed to make a sale if he comes and turns the place into a museum? The judge tells him that it is between him and the buyers. The judge places the injunction on the building, and says that the rest is up to the landmark commission. Applause breaks out through the apartment. Hodgekins storms out of the courtroom in a snit. That was when Michael Damian (and Danny Romalotti) was offered the part in Joseph in the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Broadway, which of course led to the whole Phyllis thing. The recent Danny/Cricket stuff was so lazy. Back in the day, we would have seen her trial and also gotten to know the characters involved, seen them at their home. And today, we don't even know what the trial is about! Could they not have even had a line where she explains that it's an important civil rights case involving XYZ, to really drive home how she's called to this... no, because they are afraid to offend anyone, so it's just "a client needs me." At least a couple of years ago they had Avery involved in the Innocence Project and at least made some references to it and you would occasionally see her visiting someone at the jail (and did a whole story with Tyler & Leslie's father). It just adds some color and life to the show. (Loved the character Avery, so classy and not like her sister!). And anyway, whether they decide to say Christine and Danny are off on tour, or she's at a trial... it's all going to happen offscreen regardless... I had forgotten that they used the same name! I dug into the 2018 recaps a bit. At one point Nick offers Tessa an application as a low-income tenant, which I had also forgotten about. The story also introduced Arturo Rosales as the contractor working on the redevelopment. Closest I could find was this. It doesn't confirm it's the original Rainbow Gardens, but it's certainly possible. https://www.soapcentral.com/young-and-restless/recaps/2018/180115.php Nick revealed that he'd offered to give Noah the insurance money from the Underground fire to rebuild the club, but Noah hadn't wanted it, so the funds were ready to use. He added that he only had about half of what it would take, but that was where Nikki stepped in. Nikki proclaimed that they were partners, and they hugged as Victor approached. Nikki announced that she and Nick would be working together to make an offer to buy the building Kathy had been evicted from, and they intended to fix it up and give low-income renters a nice place to stay. "Kathy" is first seen on January 11, 2018, and says this https://tvmegasite.net/transcripts/yr/older/2018/yr-trans-01-11-18.shtml Kathy: Listen, lady, just because I'm cheap and I try to buy day-olds doesn't mean i don't know how to take care of my kids. Sharon: Uh, no. I didn't -- I didn't mean to offend you. They seem happy and healthy. Just, if you want something more nutritious, I would love to send you home with something more than pastries. You do have a house or apartment to go to? Kathy: Uh, we're in between places. Sharon: Oh, wow. I'm so sorry to hear that. Kathy: Yeah. No more sorry than me. It's capitalism at its finest. Next thing I know, my greedy landlord has decided to rent it out to some hipsters. Thought raising the rent would attract them. But little did she know that, you know, a bunch of kids with beanies and skinny jeans aren't gonna want to live in that building. [ Chuckles ] So, um... I've been looking, but... prices have gone up, you know? Sharon: Well, I work at a crisis hotline, and I have contacts in the social services department. I can give you their number. They can help. And until then, there's a women's shelter. You'll feel safe there with the kids. Kathy: Look, I don't need your charity, okay? I'll -- I'll find us a place. Eventually. Sharon: What about tonight? Where will you go?
  14. You might not be up to it yet but the other day Billy gave this look like "why is HE here" when Adam was at the appointment with his own son's therapist!!!
  15. Hah, I wouldn't be surprised. Amen. You can feel Adam and Devon's visceral hate when Billy walks into a room. I feel the same way. Dude walks around pretending to give everybody therapy because he's so screwed up and thinks he can pass along life lessons. I wish he would STFU. I can't stand him.
  16. Nice! I've never seen that one. Hard to buy Danny and Jack as rivals. Of course everyone hates Jack for one reason or another, lol.
  17. Nick doesn't fit in with the Newmans in a lot of ways. That was built-in, and at times has been used to contrast who he is vs. his father's expectations, but with the lazy writing of the last decade, it makes him kind of superfluous, similar to Abby. As was noted by @Paul Raven, Nick was an affordable housing developer for years, and we never saw a single home that he built, and if we ever saw any of the people he helped, it was probably a throwaway scene at the coffeehouse. Under Bill Bell, this stuff came to life with storylines like Margaret and Miles at Rainbow Gardens.
  18. Annika Noelle: https://daytimeconfidential.com/2024/04/22/b-bs-annika-noelle-on-emmy-nod-scenes-i-wanted-to-show-the-evolution-of-hope-logan I wanted to show the evolution of Hope Logan. Going from her denial about her feelings for Thomas and saying that she’d never be anything like her mother, then cutting to Liam confronting Hope about her infidelity and Brooke [Katherine Kelly Lang] catching her and Thomas in bed together. Ultimately, she kind of comes into her own and finds her own strength, essentially calling Liam’s bluff and saying, ‘You want a divorce? Here’s your divorce!'
  19. Haven't watched yet. That's cute! I guess they could say Sheila had a chain gang/fan club in prison and they all got plastic surgery. One pretended to be Sheila (Pheila) and one pretended to be Sheila's sister (Lauren) and pretended her kids were Sheila's. That would also undo the Daisy and Ryder retcon, since they are apparently not having Lucy show any signs of being related to Sheila nor having Sheila interested whatsoever in that set of relatives. Then Sheila would be down to Erica/Mary, Diana, and Finn which is more than enough kids.
  20. So male stripper? Haha.
  21. JM would have worked in the Paul Williams hero archetype. He was good fighting off Cameron and Jordan. A career change at this point wouldn't be credible so they're kind of stuck.
  22. She's a star but not a General Hospital star, lol.
